It is a fallacy that RTW brings more jobs to states. Good not to be forced to pay union dues, but the cause and effect has not been proven.
Edit to me: Hopefully there won’t be any people caring for family members that will be paying union dues. What a joke that was.
You did realize it used to be in Michigan, Ohio, Ontario, Indiana and Wisconsin ~ right?
It moved!
Excuse me? Big labor has virtually taken over California- turned it into a one party state. The unions have helped to destroy our economy here, ruin the election process and have proven that they would rather see the state go down in flames than concede even one penny of their big fat pensions.
Well actually, it has been empirically shown that, ceteris paribus, higher rates of unionization results in higher unemployment. This also follows from economic reasoning.
Tell that to those in NY and NJ who suffered during the Sandy fiasco. Out of town workers with equipment turned around and sent home! Non union workers cars/equipment stolen or damaged.
Tell that to the auto workers in TN and MS!
“It is a fallacy that RTW brings more jobs to states. Good not to be forced to pay union dues, but the cause and effect has not been proven.”
Wait till the appelate court overturns the auto bailout and puts GM into bankruptcy protection. Then watch as the real investors get paid back while the unions pension fund gets renegotiated.
There may be life in Michigan yet.
It will be nice for some folks who make minimum wage not to give the damn unions a dime of their money.
But it is not a fallacy that weaker unions have a harder time to shut businesses down.
Really? Come to Texas....
Actually it does. I’m in S.E. TN and we have plenty of non-union jobs while still making a good wage. People are moving here from all over to take these jobs. TN is a right to work state and unions don’t do well here. Since they can’t swindle workers out of their hard earned money they can’t stay long. Company’s know this. If a union does manage to get in, since workers are not forced to join, the unions can’t make money. If we weren’t a right to work state, company’s would just pack up and leave the way they have in other states.
