Syria crisis: Nato approves Patriots for Turkey

Nato news conference regarding Turkey-Syria border

Syria conflict

Nato has approved the deployment of Patriot anti-missile batteries along Turkey's border with Syria.

The long-expected move emerged from a meeting of Nato foreign ministers in Brussels, and amid growing fears that Syria could use chemical weapons.

Nato's Secretary General Anders Fogh Rasmussen and the US have said this would be "completely unacceptable".

Syria has insisted it will not use chemical weapons against its own people, "in any circumstances".

The meeting of the 28-member Western military alliance's foreign ministers in Brussels follows a request from Turkey to boost its defences along the border.

As he emerged from the meeting, Mr Rasmussen tweeted: "Nato has agreed to augment Turkey's air defence capabilities. We are determined to defend Turkey's people and territory."

Nato officials have previously made clear such a move would be purely defensive.

Syria is believed to hold chemical weapons - including mustard gas and sarin, a highly toxic nerve agent - at dozens of sites around the country.

The CIA has said those weapons "can be delivered by aircraft, ballistic missile and artillery rockets".

There is one major problem with this strategy. And since we have Progressives running the country, one must assume current US leadership is too stupid to realize the problem. Back when we were developing the SDI strategy that won the Cold War, there was one major obstacle that had to be over come to prevent nuclear annihilation. The Russians viewed missile defense as being an offensive weapon. The only way to break that log jam and to muzzle the Russians and their Progressive toadies in the US, was to have Reagan offer the missile defense to the Russians. Basically codevelopment. That strategy disarmed the Russian opposition and won the Cold War. Of course back then the Progressives thought Reagan was mad.

Now here we are in the present day, with the same retarded progressives now running the country. The Russians will view the deployment as being offensive in nature. This will make them contemplate having Assad either use the Chemical WMD's to end the terrorist insurgency, or to launch a first strike from Syria into Turkey before the missile defense systems are activated.

A Syrian attack on Turkey will quickly escalate into a war with NATO. I have doubts that Assad is that stupid. And certainly Obama won't hesitate to join in the defense of a muslim country like Turkey.

NATO had to enlist Al Qeada and Muslim Brotherhood terrorists just to defeat Ghaddafi. Assad is in a different league. He can target every single Turkish and Jordanian city with the worlds most deadliest chemical and biological warheads.

The video is now working. At least it worked for me at 3:35PM EST.. It’s short. About a minute worth of video that tells you nothing the article does not bring out.

Didn’t Turkey opt out of supporting us during DESERT STORM? They didn’t want to fight with Moslems. Now, we’re supposed to defend them? From Moslems? Something doesn’t make sense here.

If Russia doesn't want American missiles in Turkey, then they should stop arming and propping up the psychopathic mass-murdering islamofascist terrorist Assad.

KGB Putin's anti-American Neo-Soviet foreign policy ensures that the USA and Russia will be in conflict and that our ABM program will continue to expand. Putin's stupid and evil hostility to the USA is against Russia's own best interests. Missiles in Turkey are the price Putin pays for his evil support of islamofascist terrorists.

If you only learned about the world through the US MSM, then you would think the following. Assad is readying his Chemical WMD's because he wants to use them on the rebels within his country. This is because he is losing the battle. This is why Obama took time off from golfing to issue a stern warning to Assad. That is a false narrative IMHO.

What is happening is NATO has decided to protect the Turkish citizens from reprisals from Assad. So they are putting the Patriot batteries along the entire border between Turkey and Syria. To begin with, DC does not know its tail from its nose. That should have been done before they decided to topple Assad. Stupid. Stupid. Stupid. So the Russians find out that the batteries on going in, they tell Assad. So Assad decides to ready his chemical weapons. Both the Russians, Iranians and Syrians have deduced that the patriot missile emplacement will be a precursor to an invasion of Syria by NATO forces.

So Obama gets a call on the golf course, telling him about the chemical weapons activity due to the patriot missile decision. So he gets all riled up and warns Assad that using the chemical WMD would cross the red line. Both Obama and Hillary fail to mention that their decision to actually protect the Turkish citizens from their invasion of Syria, caused the Chemicals to be mixed in the first place. We are being led by buffoons. They always lie to us. And they are gonna get a whole lot of people killed.

The world wide progressives have a Global Plan,....and they think a little chaos will help them ...it would seem.

No Rational Global Strategist would do some of what they are doing.

I simply copied the img source from the John Batchelor Show web site under the article titled: Strangelove in Tehran.
It was meant as a joke.

Assad shelled Turkey and killed Turkish citizens. These attacks on a NATO member justifies NATO action to defend itself. That is the reason for the Patriot missiles.

No Rational Global Strategist would do some of what they are doing.

They are literally flying by the seats of their pants simply due to the fact that they have no clue as to what they are doing in the first place. The coverup of Benghazi is a prime example. It is exactly as Clint Eastwood plainly stated. We deserve better then this. The world deserves better then this.
