MARENGO, Ohio Salvation isnt automatic but it might be semiautomatic.
In an effort to increase membership, a number of U.S. churches including the Church of Christ congregation in this rural village 30 miles north of Columbus are offering an unconventional public service: Concealed weapons training.
Church has done a good job with coffee klatsches or whatever, but we havent really reached out to guys, said Jeff Copley, a preacher at the church. And guys in Morrow Country, they shoot and they hunt.
Hundreds of students have enrolled in the 10-hour course, which meets the state requirements for earning a concealed weapons permit. The training includes two hours on a church members private shooting range.
I grew up going to church, but hadnt attended in a number of years, said David Freeman, 52, a local engineering manager who attended a firearm safety class at the church. Always considered myself a Christian. I came for the gun classes and have been coming back for two years.
The Marengo church launched its program several years ago and was likely among the first in the country to offer concealed weapons training. But from Texas to North Carolina, a smattering of congregations have recently followed suit, as ministers seek to capitalize on local enthusiasm for gun culture and demand for carry permit classes to expand their flocks.
Central Baptist Church in Lexington, N.C., held its first concealed weapons classes in March, in what the Rev. Ryan Bennett described as just another avenue to reach people.
We want to draw people in to our campus, Bennett told a local newspaper at the time. And were going to try anything that we can to do that.
While conceding that he carries a 9mm pistol with him at all times, he said he doesnt

More blessed to give than to receive.
It won’t be long before another leftist punk like the Aurora Joker gets it in his mind to assault a church.
Big deal, mosques have been doing the same for centuries.
Or maybe a Galil.
Matthew 26:53 NIV
Do you think I cannot call on my Father, and he will at once put at my disposal more than twelve legions of angels?
This is a good idea.
Whatever happened to preaching the Gospel, in season and out?
More foolishness from the false shepherds.
He would use a “Judge”. :)
yup, it would be beneath the dignity of a haloed true shepherd to bait the gospel hook with anything like this
that’s like asking if the Carpenter of Galilee would use a Craftsman hammer
The bible and self defense:
Never mind what would Jesus shoot - the real question is WHO would Jesus shoot?
If we could get Catholics to embrace this kind of thing, then we could start winning over Hispanics.
Catholics need to become connected to red blooded conservatism somehow.
Guns were not invented yet, he would shoot no one, didn’t have a gun...
He [Jesus] said to them, “But now if you have a purse, take it, and also a bag; and if you don’t have a sword, sell your cloak and buy one.” — Luke 22:36
My Lord and Savior was in favor of self-defense.
Your church ping!
I’m glad I scrolled the thread to see if someone posted that.
Can you imagine God with a gun... nothing BUT bull’s eyes!
Pistol packin’ pastors - way to go :o)
Barrett? No way - not for us orthodox traditionalist - He would be packing a pair of Lewis guns!
>> More foolishness from the false shepherds.
Do your homework - shepherds are protectors of their flocks. Google up “Carl Chinn”.
My people perish from a lack of knowledge. ~ Hosea 4: 6
Yep...Its one thing to know your Bible, but it’s another thing to KNOW the God of the Bible.
Sure. I missed that part of the Gospel that says Jesus offered weapons training classes to attract people.
Praise God and pass the ammo.
Here it is, since you missed it:
He [JESUS] said to them, “But now if you have a purse, take it, and also a bag; and if you don’t have a sword, sell your cloak and buy one.
I wish I had a laser etcher, I would love to inscribe Luke 22:36 into the slide rail of my Glock.
Jesus wasn’t telling his disciples to arm themselves as he later said at Matt. 26:51, 52. When two swords were brought out it provided a sharp lesson as Jesus rebuked Peter and healed the slave Peter had wounded.
Christians did not carry weapons or train in their use according to what Paul said.
For the rest of us, who do not have the guarantee of twelve legions of angels on call, the maxim "God helps those who help themselves" would apply.
I’ll settle for 12 rounds of 9mm 145gr JHP.
If I need more, methinks He wants to talk to me in person about it.
The only circumstance where you might need more would be if you were trying to fight your way out of a riot zone, in which case you would likely run out of luck before you ran out of ammo.
WHAT WOULD JESUS SHOOT?Hmmm??? Tough question. But I'll give it a go...
Since Jesus was modest and compassionate. And wanted to end any needless suffering, IMHO Jesus would shoot a government model 1911, 45ACP.
Not any tricked out Kimber in SS with an extended slide, laser sight, extended mag, and fancy grips. Nope, none of that gaudy stuff. Just a plain blued GI style 1911.

In the USA, we’ve just given up our status as a republic. The mainline churches are largely co opted by the Gummn’t, and are, after decades of leftist influence, dying on the vine. Get them in the door first; the Gospel will follow.
Check out this what this writer has to say about the subject of swords.
I say provide for the defense of your household. But thats just me.
