UN official calls for marijuana ballot rollback
AP / November 20, 2012

VIENNA (AP) — The head of the U.N. drug watchdog agency is urging U.S. federal officials to challenge ballot measures in Colorado and Washington that decriminalized possession of small amounts of marijuana for adults 21 and over.

Raymond Yans says the approvals send ‘‘a wrong message to the rest of the nation and it sends a wrong message abroad.’’

Yans heads the International Narcotics Control Board.

This is a democracy

Stop saying that.

People believing that democracy is a good thing is how we got in to this socialist welfare state mess that we find ourselves in.

This is a republic. WE DO NOT WANT TO BE A DEMOCRACY.

Democracy is mob rule. Unless you want rule by the likes of Occupy Wall Street crowd get over this democracy thing.

Sure, you should support them on this kind of an issue of liberty. If you don’t you are being childish and care even less for your country than many of those Obama voters.

A “new world order” with “one world government”.

Tar and feather him.

Who is this bastard and what's his address?

This is a democracy.

Actually this is a republic.

First of all, I don’t smoke and do an occasional beer. However living here in Colorado, I voted for Amend 64 on marijuana more as a states rights issue. For the UN, the best thing they can do it mind their own business and FOAD.

Why are not potheads screaming for all medical drugs to be legalized? We should be a free people, and not need expensive prescriptions in order to take an antibiotic, or some other drug we decide that we might need to take. It is easy enough to do your own research and figure out what drug you might need, and if you are willing to experiment on yourself, you should be free to do so. Most would still go to their expensive doctors to find out what to take, but for the rest of us, whatever happened to our freedom? Plus, look at the people who die of cancer, who would be willing to try new experimental drugs, but cannot because they haven’t been “approved” by the FDR. Look at all the cures that have been canned because they don’t make drug companies billions of dollars. The important thing is that all of the bought off drug companies prosper, not whether the people die horrible, debilitating deaths or not. There are many causes around freedom to champion that are far better than defending being potheads.

It’s a beautiful thing watching drug warriors, domestic and foreign, yammer and bleat.

The UN doesn’t want legal pot. It cuts into their trade.

Drug laws always were and always will be a means to grow the totalitarian government and oppress the people.

Ah, thank you for the correction! Unfortunately our republic is becoming a democracy or rabble-ocracy.

P.S. It is no coincidence that the WOD started under Woodrow Wilson, the president that did more to destroy the republic than any other.

Same here.

UN out now.

When the rest of the world catches up to the US in science, technology, and charity, I might consider listening to their opinions. Until then, they can go home and clean their own houses.

Hey! Stay out of our business! With Communism USA now on the fast track, we Americans are going to need all of the drugs we can get! I’m not playing that Vodka crap like the Russkis used to deal with communism there.

Damn straight. I’m not a fan of legalization (Colorado’s getting pretty crazy) - but the UN can GET F*CKED!

We’re okay though, guys. We have the totally competent Susan Rice to negotiate our surrender.
