The Bain attack is back.
This time its being used against Hostess Brands, the Twinkies and Wonder Bread maker that announced Friday it was closing. AFL-CIO President Richard Trumka drew the comparison in a public statement Friday.
Whats happening with Hostess Brands is a microcosm of whats wrong with America, as Bain-style Wall Street vultures make themselves rich by making America poor, Trumka said in a public statement. Crony capitalism and consistently poor management drove Hostess into the ground, but its workers are paying the price.
Earlier Friday, Hostess Brands announced that it would be closing, which the company said was precipitated by a workers strike.
Trumkas comparing Hostess to Brain comes after an election in which former GOP presidential nominee Mitt Romney was criticized for co-founding Bain Capital.

Richard Trumka, the very picture of chubby screaming lying communist.
umm your guy won. Enjoy your free birth control!
I am glad Trumka told me the truth, I was going to blame it on the Union not having sense enough to quit striking.
One of the comments:
“They told me if I voted for Mitt Romney there would be massive layoffs. And they were right.” LOL
Hey, Trumka, if you and your union are so business-saavy, why don't you buy the Hostess assests and make it work.
Most people are on to this BS now. Reverse the topic or even change the topic to demonize the other side. Bush’s fault, Romney’s fault. Trumpka is his parent’s fault. His mother should have had an abortion. Fat ugly, communist bastard.
Perfect, Kosciusco; perfect. You win.
TC
No, he wants Obama to seize the assets and give them to the Baker’s Union.
How could a company be so evil as to not pay people what they want?
leftists never take credit for their successes
Nope. Soetoro owns it. Where was the GM-style bailout where the bond-holder’s wealth transferred to the Union? Twinkle-toes should have bailed out the Twinkie-makers. Or else retrain these bakers to make arugala salads and wagyu beef.
Well you will not have your twinkies now.
Great post. I spent my entire working career listening to UAW types talk about how things were ALWAYS the fault of management.
If Baraq can pony up hundreds of million for his green energy companies that create dozens of jobs, why not for 18,000 union members? Call ‘em GREEN TWINKIES !!
yeah, 5000 goonyan employess make the remaining 13000 non-union ones pay.
Will not be surprised if the company that owns “Little Debbies” will end up taking over.
And within a year, they would be unemployed again.
AFL-CIO President Richard Trumka still has a do nothing job and the workers are without a job.
Lets see if we can guess which ones are the dummies.
Great question!
BTW, I believe that once a company goes into bankruptcy all contracts become null and void, like the union contract.
That means that the union can buy the company, and in order make it profitable they would have to hire hire non union workers. That’s the solution.(SARC)
Agreed.
Every time I see his picture or watch video of him, I mentally overdub the sound of flatulence as his mouth moves.

...so to speak...

"I still get paid my 6 figure salary, right?"
per Zero Hedge:
"And here comes the Hostess twist: because Tim Collins of Ripplewood [Ripplewood holdings, injecting $130 million in order to obtain equity control of Hostess as it was emerging last time], was a prominent Democrat, a position which allowed him to get involved in the first bankruptcy process in the first place, due to his proximity with the Teamsters' long-term heartthrob Dick Gephardt (whose consulting group just happens to also be an equity owner of Hostess).
No brain?
Blame Bain!
Ping to Post #22
Obama probably wanted to bail out Hostess but then Michelle would make him sleep on the couch for the rest of his term.
Maybe B’raq can nationalize Hostess, and since the government is filled with Twinkies there will never be a shortage.
A “One Percenter” hustling the dopes with class warfare rhetoric. Michael Moore, but with a better tailor.
Actually - DEMOCRATS had the investment in Hostess. BWAhahaha

Really FR?! You took down my post with a pic of Trumka? wow......
Would love to see some details here. How much were the employees making? How many were collecting pensions? What were their “concessions?” What were the company’s profits & costs like?
Very poorly reported story here. Sadly, it’s just accepted that these things don’t really matter.
(And, no, I wasn’t expecting otherwise....)

Okay......sorry about that one...
I’m pretty sure Trumka and his friends have enough money to buy some Hostess assets that are being sold off. For example, the Twinkie brand name and recipe plus a few factories. Then they can run it with workers keeping all profit.
I wish we could get union workers to start demanding things like this. If Trumka is right and workers can be paid much more than they are, then he can prove it. If he’s just BS’ing, then union members may pay more attention if he’s the one explaining operating costs and profit margin and workers’ salaries and risk and growth and ROI and taxes to them.
Oh, it's even richer than that -- a subset of that 13,000 are from the Teamsters union, who were opposed to the baker's strike. So not only did the bakers p*** off 13,000 co-workers, but significant number of them are Teamsters.
Might as well start setting up dredging operations for the nearest body of water now, if you know what I mean...
Note they’re really not LAMENTING the death of Hostess... they’re dancing on its grave. Union thugs don’t care a hoot about individual jobs.
“Trumka said in a public statement. Crony capitalism and consistently poor management drove Hostess into the ground...”
Even union thugs like Trumka are stealing Sarah’s catch phrases, but the GOP treats her like she has leprosy.
"Unfortunately, the company's operating and financial problems were so severe that it required steep concessions from a variety of stakeholders but not all stakeholders were willing to be constructive," Mr. Hall said in a statement.

Even the Unions blame the Unions.
For the next four year, no union will ever be at fault, no tax will be harmful to the economy, and Obama will not make a mistake.
George Orwell, just 30 years late.
