Just a few minutes ago on CNN, Pentagon correspondent Barbara Starr reported that a high-placed source informed her that former CIA Chief David Petraeus will use his upcoming testimony to amend his previous testimony. According to this source, Petraeus will tell the closed door congressional hearing that he knew "almost immediately" that the September 11 anniversary attack on our Libyan consulate was a terrorist attack committed by the al-Qaeda-linked militia Ansar Al Sharia.

So a US General let a man be questioned by the police in the middle of the night, who allowed his name and address all over TV, his life threatened, then perp walked and arrested (on parole violation).....all for a LIE?

3) Ignoring pleas from Stevens for more security THE DAY OF THE ATTACK.
4) DENYING troops to rescue Americans in distress DURING THE ATTACK.
5) Exposing the fact there was a covert CIA operation (Annex) near the Embassy with approximately 39 government employees working there (Besides Stevens and Smith).
6) That Stevens or CIA was doing nefarious things; supplying weapons to terrorists, etc.

I think Petraeus and Broadwell should board a plane to Brazzaville.
You may be right. But I can’t help but think that having seen the devotion and dedication of the military men coming back from Afghanistan/Iraq having given so much, that men like Petreaus must have memories of having led these men to give up limbs and life and feel an obligation to them and to those who came before him, that he owes them and the nation the truth....and whatever befalls anyone, duty, honor, country is the soldiers highest calling. I hope it is so.
So, a lying, fired, disgruntled soon to be prosecuted for adultery, adulterer, disgraced former government employee will be testifying that he lied and is just now telling the truth.

It’s true that we haven’t heard from Paula Broadwell for awhile. When and under what circumstances was her driver’s license found?
Admiral Boorda was an honorable man. Petraeus ought to be concerned that someone will decide for him that he is just too ashamed of himself to live.
Maybe.
But there is another way to look at it. If I managed to get appointed CIA director by 0bama, I’d definitely take the job and do my best to use that position to protect the country. At the same time, I’d keep an eye on 0bama. (Keep your friends close and your enemies closer.) The only way I’d resign is if I thought that would benefit my country more than staying on the job.
Not saying Petraeus thinks the way I do, but I wouldn’t rule that out.
It would be nice, but I’m not holding my breath. It seems that every time we get Obama on the ropes, somebody comes in at the last minutes to stab us in the back. Roberts, Christie, etc.

Well put. It’s easy for us to bluster, but few if any of us have ever been in that position or anything even remotely like it.
He was a general, and therefore had to be pretty PC to get to the rank he attained, although he also obviously had skills and was a thoughtful person. I think it’s very possible that he wants to do the right thing now, even if he blew it the first time around for whatever reason (possibly not to protect himself, but somebody else).
