Jindal slams Romney for 'gifts' comment about minorities, young voters

Republican Gov. Bobby Jindal of Louisiana fiercely shot back at Mitt Romney’s claim Wednesday that President Barack Obama outmatched the 2012 Republican presidential nominee by offering "gifts" to African-Americans, Hispanics and young voters.

“I absolutely reject that notion,” Jindal, who was a surrogate for Romney’s campaign, said at the Republican Governors Association conference in Las Vegas. “I think that's absolutely wrong.”

“I don't think that represents where we are as a party and where we're going as a party,” he continued. “That has got to be one of the most fundamental takeaways from this election.”

Romney made the comments on a call with top donors Wednesday afternoon, various news outlets have reported. The former Massachusetts governor also made similar arguments on a separate call earlier in the morning, CNN confirmed.

"What the president, president's campaign did was focus on certain members of his base coalition, give them extraordinary financial gifts from the government, and then work very aggressively to turn them out to vote," Romney said in the afternoon call, according to audio aired on ABC News.

Romney, who lost to Obama by 126 electoral votes, said the president courted voters by offering policies - some of them this election year - that appealed to key constituencies.

A really good analogy on how Obama got elected.

From a teacher in the Nashville area:
We are worried about “the cow” when it is all about the “Ice Cream.”
The most eye-opening civics lesson I ever had was while teaching third grade this year.
The presidential election was heating up and some of the children showed an interest.
I decided we would have an election for a class president. We would choose our nominees.
They would make a campaign speech and the class would vote.
To simplify the process, candidates were nominated by other class members.
We discussed what kinds of characteristics these students should have.
We got many nominations and from those, Jamie and Olivia were picked to run for the top spot.
The class had done a great job in their selections. Both candidates were good kids.
I thought Jamie might have an advantage because he got lots of parental support.
I had never seen Olivia’s mother.
The day arrived when they were to make their speeches Jamie went first.
He had specific ideas about how to make our class a better place.
He ended by promising to do his very best.
Every one applauded. He sat down and Olivia came to the podium.
Her speech was concise. She said, “If you will vote for me, I will give you ice cream.”
She sat down. The class went wild. “Yes! Yes! We want ice cream.”
She surely would say more. She did not have to.
A discussion followed. How did she plan to pay for the ice cream? She wasn’t sure.
Would her parents buy it or would the class pay for it. She didn’t know.
The class really didn’t care. All they were thinking about was ice cream.
Jamie was forgotten. Olivia won by a land slide.
Every time Barack Obama opens his mouth he offers ice cream, fifty two percent
of the people react like nine year olds. They want ice cream. The other forty eight
percent know they’re going to have to feed the cow and clean up the mess.

Well, there goes whatever respect I once had for Jindal.

OF COURSE Ubama and the rats use other people’s money to buy the votes of their party’s base of moochers and parasites - - it’s what the Democrat party is all about. What got into Jindal that he’s decided to run like a scared bunny rabbit from the Democrat “mainstream” newsrooms? Wow.. what a coward.

Of course, I don’t follow Jindal’s career that closely - - has he always been a coward?

Neither Jindal nor Rubio are natural born citizens. Both are ineligible.

(( ping ))

Talk about hitting a nerve!
Even some Republican cowards are running scared from the rat newsrooms.
Jindal just wrote himself out of any national conversation, at least in the GOP.

if Jindal is not a conservative, then what about Romney?

Romney switched back and forth, flip flopped , changed his positions so many times during his political career, it is hard to see what exactly Romney stands for. He said whatever the audience wanted to hear. He showered Obama and Clinton with praises, then he is whining that those guys played dirty politics when Romney played the same dirty politics during the republican primary?

Romeny has to do what election losers generally do , he should slid away quietly from the stage and leave the playground to others.

I suspect that a few minorities find that they can acquire power and wealth by being novelty acts - running as Republicans. They don’t really have any principles or stand for anything. But they have found that the Republicans are so desperate for a token minority that they can get themselves elected or appointed to high office fairly easily. Jindal. Colin Powell. Rubio. A few others come to mind. The mask comes off eventually and they show us they are more loyal to race than to conservative principles.

Republicans are nearly as eager to prove they are not racist by voting for a person of color as the Democrats are. And this is what we get.

It’s a shame Thomas Sowell never ran for office. I have no doubt of his conservative principles.

Romney’s unpopularity was the cause of our defeat. It is estimated that 7 million white did not vote in this election. Romney ran a take no prisoners primary, burying his opponents under a ton of money. Turned out that money could not make Romney popular. Try as he would, Romney failed, because he lacks the common touch. And he ignores the plain fact that without the blind loyalty of blacks, Obama could not have won. He is their tribal leader.

I look forward to the time when folks quit slamming Romney. The GOP cannot win the White House with a liberal nominee. It’s really just that simple. Romney is what he is and what he is disqualified his candidacy. It’s time to let him quietly enjoy the rest of his life.

You are the kind of fellow who got Blanco elected governor of Louisiana. Then watched her stand there stunned, knowing not what to do when Katrina came roaring in.

if Jindal is not a conservative, then what about Romney

Romney is what you said.

Jindal is not this wonderful Conservative that many think. He as done things here in LA that had Conservatives pull their hair out.

Two simple comparisons to Reagan. If you walked up to Jindal and asked him if Government was a necessary evil, he would cringe at the word evil

Reagan would not hesitate to say yes.

Two, Reagan was confident and bold when he outright fired the striking PATCO workers.

Jindal would be utterly incapable of taking such bold action. Jindal will NEVER be a leader that could turn this Republic back towards Liberty.

Jindal does not have the love of Liberty or reverence to our Constitution that Reagan internalized.

Jindal is wonderful at parroting many conservative lines, but that's it -- mostly talk. Remember, he got out of college and went straight into the vast government bureaucracy, as a wunderkind.

His first love is an activist government for so called good -- (hum, sounds like the Bushes).

What most refuse to acknowledge is that it was unlikely that ANYBODY could have beaten the voter fraud planned and perpetrated by the Obama machine. They seem to prefer pointing fingers, blaming Romney and blathering on about Patraeus' sex life.

Col Allen West; "I don't want to see America become like Zimbabwe where people don’t trust their electoral process. If we cannot trust the integrity of the voting system then we are no longer a free republic".

Col West has opened the door.

We must fight election fraud.

It falls on ‘We the People’.

I don’t belive Romney is a loser, I believe we now have a dicator who has proven he is willing to do anything to win, including, lie, cheat and steal. Obama is getting stranger by the day, he knows he didn’t win this election, we now have our first dicator. Romney is correct, I heard about Obama giving away free cell phones to people who could prove that they had voted and were on welfare or diability. Saw the video, it’s true, sadly. Not only did Obama do that, but I also believe they just didn’t bother to count many of the mail in votes, just like they “lost” thousands of military votes. I am disgusted with Fox News for ignoring this while they report on what Obama is doing, as if that’s the big story, while they ignore that Obama stole this election. Does anyone remember Acorn? What was that all about? Voter fraud.

Obama did buy the vote.

Go ask any Obama voter why they voted for Obama.

Answers: Obamaphones, healthcare, education, abortions, etc.

Here is a take away fer ya, young jindal. You didn’t have the balls to stop all the vote fraud so you lost the election AFTER the election you couldn’t afford to lose (to an impostor you didn’t have the balls to call an impostor). A famous man once said, “Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me.”. Well you’ll in the GOP fooled us twice now. Congrats! It is OUR fault now. The TEA Party should have started it’s own party in 2009. Even if we had lost it would have been an HONEST loss. No virtue in caving in to fraud.
