Former CIA Director David Petraeus has agreed to testify at a closed-door session of Congress to answer questions about September's terrorist attack on the U.S. consulate in Libya, but he will likely also be asked about new revelations that his alleged mistress Paula Broadwell is suspected of storing classified military material, at her home.
Petraeus had been reluctant to testify following his resignation as CIA chief, but pressure had been growing in Congress for him to appear.
"Gen. Petraeus is willing to come before the committee and the details are being worked out," Sen. Diane Feinstein, chairwoman of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, said today. No date for his testimony has been set.
A source familiar with the case also told ABC News that Broadwell admitted to the FBI she took documents from secure government buildings. The government demanded that they all be given back, and when federal agents descended on her North Carolina home on Monday night it was a pre-arranged meeting.

So why isn’t the Left refering to him as “General Betray-us”? You’d think they’d be all over this.

It looks like to me that she did not have any classified documents or computer files from Petraeus. Am I correct?

There is very likely a lot of things. This was a CIA base staffed almost entirely by the CIA.

I have always wondered who those 30 people rescued were. That is A LOT of staff for a tiny “consulate”.

Here's what I said about that back in '09:
Poison Photo-Drop .. decision to release photographs .. will imperil nation .. its defenders.
Before he is done I fully expect him to release the names, addresses and phone numbers of anyone anywhere in the world who has ever provided any information to agency workers.
The damage to US intel will last multiple generations.
I will refrain from making any comments or speculation about self-preservation instincts of wet work operatives.

Closed door testimony? Even if it’s justified for “national security” reasons, it stinks to high heaven. How can the citizens of this country ever know if Feinstein and the Dems didn’t use “national security” to hide scandalous information from the public and protect their boss Obama?
I can certainly think of dozens of questions that need to be answered that have no national security import. For example, did Obama refuse to give the cross-border authorization? Who told the guys at the CIA annex to stand down? Petraeus or the White House? Or Petraeus acting on the White House’s orders? Who told Petraeus that this attack was provoked by a video tape, and when did he learn otherwise? How about he answers those questions in public, and they save the sensitive questions for the closed door hearing?
Also, he previously testified openly before Congress on this same matter. What exactly has changed that now requires a closed door hearing?

The adminstration has thrown the kitchen sink at Petraeus as the result trying to control him with leaking his affair. The admin has gone after his friends Allen, Kelley. His wife and mistress have become collateral damage. There is not much more that they can do to tarnish his reputation. The only person who can salvage his reputation is he. They have gone after his organization, today’s story was on child porn in the CIA. What other event have you seen so many flag officers go down, the Admiral, Carter Ham, Allen, Petraeus. The smear campaign is in full swing by the admin. What are they scared of? Simple. The contents of the briefcase that he will carry into the committee room. The results of his investigation that he carried out himself. Not the FBI’s results, his results. Whom did he talk to? My bet is he spoke openly with a foreign country (Israel) on what their intelligence showed was going on. Remember when he conducted the investigation, he was still the Director of the CIA and Israel, I believe, was still our ally. This will get extremely ugly for the admin.

” - - - Youd think theyd be all over this.”
If AG Holder and the CIA were running Libyian arms and munitions to the “UMBRELLA GROUP IN SYRIA,” ( Quote from Benghazi-Coward Obama today at his press conf), then the Liberal Agenda Media (LAM) would want to protect the General and Holder.
BTW, the LAM was at the Benghazi Murder Site shortly after the murders, and collected Top Secret Papers to educate themselves on who the LAM should be protecting.
Thus the LAM were able to see to it that Benghazi-Coward Obama got re-elected.
The question now is can the LAM be forced to release their stolen top secret papers from the Benghazi Murder site to the relevant Congressional Committees?

Probably not all Americans.. Some locals perhaps serving as translators. Could've been a surveillance operation, prison, drone monitoring.. Who knows.. I can imagine Team O wants all those documents back to sift through for info. damning to 0bama.. OR HILLARY. WHERE'S HILLARY? Committees should DEMAND she appear.. Seems Team 0 are accountable to NO ONE:

A few minutes ago on the John Batchelor show, it was said that leaked information had it that the acting head of the CIA would testify that the CIA did not request any military support beyond the drone overhead at Benghazi.
If that is the testimony, it might be a story to get the Pentagon and WH off the hook.

Would not surprise me....now, will there be more leaks from people on the ground in Benghazi at the time who will counter Petraeus’ testimony?

I keep hoping to hear some from some of the others who were in Benghazi during the attacks, but nothing so far that I’ve heard.
The leak about testimony concerned the testimony of the Acting CIA head, not Petraeus. But, if true, this just sounds like a setup to say the WH never received a request for aid for Benghazi.

I saw a bunch of talking heads discussing this on Fox this afternoon, and to paraphrase, they all agreed to this premise, "This is the most highly anticipated appearance before congress in many many years, so they had no choice but to take his testimony behind closed doors."
In other words, the standard for government hearings are - the more interest the people have in the content, the more imperative it is that the people can't listen in.
And all the talking heads acted like this was not only acceptable, but necessary.
Our country is upside down like Guam with an army on it.

“the standard for government hearings are - the mote interest the people have in the content, the more imperative it is that the people can’t listen in”
That’s not exactly right. You must realize hearings are not an inquietude into the truth, nor even an adversarial contest like a trial, though they can drift into either accidentally. They arr dog and pony shows. The less control they have over it, or a combination of that and the more potentially damaging is what might be revealed, the more imperative it is the people not listen.
I realize of course that they can be adversarial as when the parties squabble or the witnesses stray from their role of grandstander or scaredycat—whichever is called for in the script. But that’s merely them trying to hostage eachother and steal the show. Then there’s actual sensitive information that they have a responsibility to hide. Government occassionally does its job. Can’t rule that out altogether.

Inquietude = unquiet. Stupid computer.
