In interviews with Business Insider last week, sources close to the Romney campaign confirmed Ekdahl's account, and described a technological undertaking that failed at every level. According to several of these sources, ORCA was developed by a small, isolated tech team working under Romney's political team. These sources told Business Insider that the product was never properly beta-tested, and wasn't revealed to the rest of the campaign — including the digital team — until the week of the election.
Most people on the campaign "weren't that surprised" by ORCA's failure, said one Republican communications strategist close to the Romney campaign.

Because there was, and still is, a huge groundswell against Obama. The whole country was in the tank for anyone that would get the dead shark smell out of the White House.

Don’t confuse Paul goof balls with Palin supporters, and Romney nor Obama were hurt by the Paul cult.
Paul people are from all over the spectrum not the GOP, that is how Paul can be so many different things at different times, even to running for president in different parties, and how he can keep raking in money although everyone knew that the lifetime politician would never escape his safe congressional district, he could never win a statewide Senate seat (even in Texas), or a Governor’s office like Palin, or be a vice-presidential candidate in a real party.
It is good that he is finally retiring, after a lifetime of this hustling and fund raising, and living the lifestyle.

Rubio has an immigration problem that needs to be dealt with.. Can we admit that pandering to illegals is not conservative? Sure he is on other issues. But that’s a biggie. He is GOP to the core.

The TEA Party group seems to be able to organize massive numbers of people without some elaborate centralized system, susceptible to breakdown, DOS attacks etc like the ill-fated ORCA. In many ways the TEA Party operates like an underground cell; with decentralized control. That makes it hack proof and it gives it virtually autonomous control.

Going back decades, it was conventional wisdom that the GOP on the Hill certainly enjoyed being the opposition rather than the party in charge.
I believe Mitt wanted to win this election, but he make the mistake of thinking Obama’s terrible record was enough to turn out voters in his favor. Mitt and his staff were obviously clueless about the ground game.

That comment is as good as a confession that you were not a Palin supporter. That’s ok, but don’t cast your own weakness on Palin’s supporters. I’m confident that at least 99% of Palin and Paul’s supporters pulled the lever for Romney for similar reasons: they both were aghast at the loss of personal freedom and power under Obama.
In 59 Philadelphia voting divisions, Zero got a higher percentage than Saddam Hussein: 100%.

I have read the entire thread. Romney lost in a perfect storm:
1. Flawed internal polls gave a false sense of security. There were rumors on this as early as the night before the election. Gingrich echoed this even up to Election Day. And he vanished in the aftermath.
2. Akin and the other nitwit who stuck their foots in their mouths on rape and abortion. Add to those gaffs the Romney sound bite stating that he would be happy to sign legislation banning abortion. And add in Limbaughs 2 day rant on Sandra Fluke(which was cheered on by the echo chamber) just turned off women. This was not the election for social issues. Just fiscal issues.
3. Romney’s lack of awareness about his wealth. The 10 grand bet with Perry and “My wife’s 2 Cadillacs” removed the ability to connect with the average non political hack voter.
4. Lack of a blueprint to right the nations fiscal ship of state. Sorry, he needed to channel the Ross Perot with the charts and data to tell the American people how he would positively affect their lives going forward. I know they did not want to give specifics because they would need to defend them, but I thought that is why he wanted Ryan on the ticket.
5. I live in a red part of Maryland and I did not receive one piece of mail or a call from the Romney campaign. Andy Harris knew my number, but not Mitt. And no GOTV call at all on Election Day. Granted the state was Obama’s, but you would want to run up the score in red districts.
6. His faith most liely suppressed the hard right evangenelical voter.
7. Palin and Paul voters sat this one out.
8. Obama knew his voters, and modeled the data nightly in 600 scenarios. That remineded me of the movie Wargames and the WOPR computer that did nothing but model WWIII. No indication that Romney had the data analyst team giving him unbiased truth.
Cry fraud all you want. I think Romney just got out played.
Three types of citizenship are recognized by our government: native born; naturalized; and citizen-by-statute (derived citizenship from parents).
All have equal rights. All can serve in Congress, either as a Representative in the House, or as a Senator in the Senate.

Natural born Citizen is NOT a type of statutory citizenship. Natural born is ONLY an eligibility requirement for the U.S. Presidency per Article II, Section 1, clause 5, of the U.S. Constitution, and requires the President to be born in the United States (jus solis) AND of two citizen parents (jus sanguinas).
The definition of natural born Citizen appears in the holding of SCOTUS’s unanimous decision of Minor v. Happersett (1874). Virginia Minor, a suffragette for women's rights, sued to be included as a candidate for U.S. President based on her eligibility under the 14th Amendment to the U.S.Constitution.
SCOTUS rejected her argument and examined her eligibility, concluding that she belonged to the class of citizens who, being born in the U.S. of citizen parents, was a natural born Citizen, and not covered by the 14th Amendment. This is important: the 14th Amendment has to to with native born citizenship NOT natural born citizenship.
This holding in Minor v. Happersett has been used in 25 consequent SCOTUS decisions since 1875.
No one has the RIGHT to be President. The eligibility requirement of Natural Born Citizenship (jus solis + jus sanguinas: born in the U.S. of U.S. citizen parents) must be viewed as a means to prevent split allegiance for any President of the United States.
Just as an afterthought, beware some posters misstating the 14th Amendment arguments. Some here, and out in cyberspace, have purposefully lied about the Wong Kim Ark case.
For Romney to have 37000 ORCAns spread throughout the US is a crime against all sensibility.
They should have all been in Ohio, Virginia, Florida, Wisconsin, Colorado, Pennsylvania — just the battleground states where their services were going to be needed.

I listen to Bob Duko Show, what a great Christian, he was an Atheist, then became a Christian and knows how to dress down every Athiest argument. He is a very calm speaking person that makes great political points(Conservative).
Anyways, he had someone on that was talking about the campaign and this person was saying that the Dems have 130 offices in Ohio from the last campaign that never left. We need to get offices in Ohio, PA, every swing state. Get them opened and moving to prepare for 2016. I know I am dreaming....
Leave it the Class of ‘98 to nail it! The operation should be in place and available to our nominee. I covered three operations for my www.OurtownFLA.com : The “Organizing for America” that transitioned to “Obama for America” and the Koch Brothers “Americans For Prosperity” and then Romney HQ. Although the Romney HQ wasn’t so bad as to have greenbar paper to call off of but the callers had to call form a seat in their office. “Obama for America” and “Americans For Prosperity” both had software where you could go to a website and access the next person to call who would see your phone number on caller ID instead of Romney for President. They would tell me they had people calling from coffee shops. “Americans For Prosperity” couldn’t mention Romney’s name so they couldn’t be overly effective but I’m sure the Koch Bros would have sold the republican party the software if they were smart enough to ask.
