So, for 2016--is it Rubio, Cruz, or Martinez?
Self-vanity

OK, is there now any doubt that the next republican presidential candidate MUST be a hispanic? IMO, there is zero chance of a republican garnering more than 5% of the black vote, and, apparently, we now have so many single women who are government-dependent that a republican cannot overcome the gender gap to any significant degree.

Since the nation seems to have been irretrievably divided up into disparate voting blocks and interest groups, it seem to me there is no other choice for the republicans than to spend the next 4 years in an all out campaign to win over the hispanic vote.

The question is, who, among prominent hispanic potential GOP candidates is the strongest alternative, and why? Rubio, Susana Martinez, and Ted Cruz immediately come to mind, but perhaps there are more. I would even go so far as to support a double hispanic ticket with a female included, such as Rubio/Martinez, Cruz/Martinez, etc. The republicans absolutely have to win in 2016, or I fear it is over for them.

It’s all identity politics now, so pick Martinez and whichever guy is better looking. If women are so superficial that they bought into Obama’s “vote your lady parts” BS, we should give them Barabbas.

Have to figure out who we are, what we really stand for, and how to communicate before picking a candidate.

I would also tell you I do not believe Ted Cruz is a national candidate. Will be a good senator, but not a national candidate.

Pick your candidates based on racial identity if you like. I’ll have none of it. Jeb Bush, Rubio, and the like would all do nothing to stop illegal immigration, and would in fact encourage more of Mexico to come here, thereby making our problems worse.

You overestimate the GOP.

The top contenders, no matter how much we gripe are:

Jeb Bush
Chris Christie (Yes, he is)
Bob McDonnell

Marco Rubio has a shot if he runs, but he will suffer the same vote-splitting that Conservatives did this time around in the primaries, most likely because of immigration.

Bobby Jindal is another outside shot.

Mike Pence - he’s the ideal GOP presidential candidate. A real conservative... everything Romney wasn’t. The GOP liberal establishment didn’t want him this year.

If the GOP liberal establishment keeps pimping on us Democrat-lite liberal candidates, it will lose. On domestic and foreign policy, Romney was to the left of Obama. Incredible but true. The voters weren’t fooled and will pick the Classic Coke over the New Coke any day.

If we don’t nominate a real conservative in 2016, we had better start planning for the next defeat.

Unfortunately the "hispanic" voting block as a whole is not interested in the Republican message. They want freebies from the gubmint and the US turned into a 3rd world hellhole like the one they left.

And, oh yeah, the Republican party is toast.

I said it in another post. Gov. Luis Fortuno of Puerto Rico. Check out his record, check out his resume, check out his videos. Should have been given far more consideration for the VEEP spot this time around.

In California Republicans have tried the “we should just do whatever Democrats do” thing. It doesn’t work.

Democrats are always going to be better at playing that game than Republicans.

I know 2010 was the GOP wave, but Marco Rubio got 49% of the vote in a 3 way race with one of the candidates being the sitting governor.

To me, that was absolutely incredible.

Unless Senator Rubio has some crazy skeletons in the closet that Axelrod will dig up, he’s my pick.

I would love to see how the media will try to challenge his outreach to Latino voters as he’s giving a speech in fluent Spanish somewhere.

If all that is left to us is to pander to an ethnic group by offering a candidate from their group, then it doesn’t matter. We are finished. Also, if any of those people accepted the nomination based on that strategy, I would lose all respect for them.

What’s this obsession with Rubio? He is a Establishment pet that make good speeches - he is the shadow for Jeb Bush

Jeb Bush - won’t win because people hate the Bush brand.

Christie Christie - America will never elect a slob as its President.

Bob McDonnell - decent guy but I’m not sure he could carry what VA is today.

I prefer Mike Pence but I don’t think the liberal GOP establishment wants him.

We’ll get another crappy liberal lite candidate in 2016 who will lose to the Democrats.

I have probably voted my last national election. We’re always given the absolute WORST candidates - haven’t had a really good choice since Reagan.

America’s days are clearly waning. Crumbling cities, rising crime and constant high unemployment is proof of that.

To hope we’d get a candidate with morals, experience and intelligence is asking too much. American’s don’t value that. They value “what’s in it for me” and who has the most Hollywood/music one-percenters standing around them.
