America Commits Suicide

Why did the majority of voters not understand the fearful implications of the erosion of the nation’s military power, not knowing that peace can only be maintained by a navy that keeps the sea lanes open, the marines who are skilled at making a quick entry into a battle zone, the army that can subdue an enemy, and an air force that has no comparison? The active military and veterans understood what their Commander-in-Chief was doing to them, but the lies about the Benghazi attack that killed a U.S. ambassador and three others were ignored.

Those who voted for Obama were content to believe the cascade of lies Obama told. They ignored the President’s record of failure

...

In 1887 Alexander Tyler, a Scottish history professor at the University of Edinburgh, had this to say about the fall of the Athenian Republic some 2,000 years prior:

"A democracy is always temporary in nature; it simply cannot exist as a permanent form of government. A democracy will continue to exist up until the time that voters discover that they can vote themselves generous gifts from the public treasury. From that moment on, the majority always votes for the candidates who promise the most benefits from the public treasury, with the result that every democracy will finally collapse over loose fiscal policy, (which is) always followed by a dictatorship."

John Adams, Founding Father and the nation’s second President warned: "Remember, democracy never lasts long. It soon wastes, exhausts and murders itself. There never was a democracy yet that did not commit suicide."

“Time for the Tea Party to step up it’s game.”

The Tea Party, and it’s brand, has been successfully marginalized, pigeon-holed by the media.

When a sheeple hears “Tea PArty” the FIRST media-programmed response is “You aren’t one of those CRAZY people, are you?”

Just like Sarah Palin..
Just like supporting Mitt Romney...
Just like asking for a background check on Obama...
Just like daring to critic Obama’s policies...
Just like daring to note the existence of the Soros-financed Shadow party...

“Start thinking in terms of ‘conservative flight’...”

Indeed. The differences are probably irreconcilable, resulting in eventual divorce.

“Second of all, stop blaming Mitt.”

Ironically given my very anti-Mitt record, I have to agree with you. He ran a competent campaign. You can’t win an election on jobs when the culture and electorate wants welfare.

Its comforting to me, in a twisted way, that John Adams foresaw this result for us.

Now its just a matter of guessing which form the final act will take.

It wasn’t turn out. obama got 9 million less votes than in 2008. They finally figured out it’s easier to “delete” votes than it is to stuff the ballot box. The computer has not “box” but it does have a delete button. There’s no way Thompson lost in Wisconsin. There’s no way obama got more votes that Romney. It was a Hugo Chavez type of election. Now the power is all theirs.

The Tytler quotation as given by Peterson in 1951:
A democracy cannot exist as a permanent form of government. It can only exist until the majority discovers it can vote itself largess out of the public treasury. After that, the majority always votes for the candidate promising the most benefits with the result the democracy collapses because of the loose fiscal policy ensuing, always to be followed by a dictatorship, then a monarchy.
is entirely consistent with Alexander Fraser Tytler's published views on democracy in general and Athenian democracy in particular (he was a Professor of Universal History and Greek and Roman Antiquities as the Wikipedia article you cite points out), and represents not a misquotation, but simply a quotation for which our best historical attestation is at some remove. The misquotation -- not reproduced in the post -- is the appending of a description of moral stages of rise and decline in democratic polities written sometime in the 1940's -- to Peterson's Tytler quote with the stage of monarchy removed.

It is also the case that whether the quotation originated with Tytler or with Peterson, the analysis it presents has been borne out time and again throughout (and is being replayed in Athens yet again -- though whether the dictatorship will be one imposed from Brussels or one lead by the Golden Dawn movement remains to be seen). Of course, since Tytler's time, the monarchy stage seems to able to be short circuited provided there are surviving external democratic polities with enough political clout to push democracy back onto societies exiting the dictatorship phase.

Actually, I believe that it’s the Republican party that’s been marginalized. They gave us a faux Conservative candidate, again, and ran a gutless campaign, again.

I couldn’t agree any more. It is just a shame that some people can see what is going on right before our very eyes were as a good portion of the population is totally ignorant, especially the ones who in some form or another expect a hand out from the government. In other words way too many think that success is achieved at the expense of others who are less successful or are on the dole altogether and expect the government to level the playing field and re-distribute what they think should be theirs.

Between you and me I do believe that the glory days of the US are over and we are on a path of decline from which there is no escape or return. Politicians can be changed reasonably easy if the will is there, but a certain mind set of a good portion of the public which was acquired over a period of many years is almost impossible to change, if anything it just keeps re-enforcing itself and keeps on growing like cancer.

The US was one of the last frontiers or bastions of freedom to escape to for any one who wanted to get away from poor politics or unsuitable economic situations and unfortunately there is no other place left to go to.

In life as well as nature there are two conditions or cycles this applies to most businesses as well and this is ‘You either grow or you die’ and the evolutionary cycle of mankind which started many thousands of years ago is far from being finished in other words I do believe that mankind is destined to grow further.

In regards to technological advancements, nothing in human history can equal what has taken place and continues unabated for approximately the past one hundred years. For lack or choice of any better words I do believe there is a “Guiding Force or Hand” at work pointing us in that direction. As what is happening right now before our very eyes regarding all technological advancements could have just as well happened a few hundred years earlier or a few hundred years later.

The only thing mankind has not kept up with is our spiritual advancement and by that I am not making any reference to any religion in particular. In order for mankind to continue on its evolutionary path and further growth a few hurdles will have to be taken down may these be of political or religious nature and unless we will be able to reach a common denominator, technology by itself will not get us any where.

In the event it cross your mind that eventually (m)uslims will see the light of (c)hristianity or the other way around you may as well forget it as this will never happen. The same holds true for the difference in what I may call political affiliation, but it probably may be easier to convince a liberal of the virtuous of conservatism than convert a (m)uslim to (c)hristianity or the other way around. The only way to achieve any progress in that direction and to find a common denominator will be to come upon a catalyst which will be undisputable and recognizable by all of mankind.

I do believe that this catalyst or event, which will not necessarily be destructive in nature, will reveal itself in the not too distant future and will be totally different from what most humans have come to expect or believe. Besides there are many signs may they be economically, politically or religious in nature that we are heading towards this catalyst, event or point in time at an ever increasing speed. I have a hunch what this event will be, something most people disagree on but sooner or later will find out including myself, that is should I live long enough since I am no longer what you may call a ‘Spring chicken’ All I can say is that it will be interesting to say the least.

I agree as well. Romney had the best run Republican campaign since the two Reagan ones and maybe GHW Bush in ‘88 (with Lee Atwater at the helm).

The takers simply outnumber the producers at this point. It’s going to take a massive crash/economic collapse to provide any sort of correction. Which is why I’d like to see Boehner and the House sit back and let sequestration, the return to the Clinton Tax Code (how it should really be portrayed rather than “extension of the Bush tax cuts”) and the non expansion of the debt ceiling really happen. The beauty of it all is that all of that stuff requires action to stop. Behave passively and it happens.

Chuzzlewit summed it up very well.

I would only add that most commands now have “Diversity Officers,” aka thought police, aka political commissars whose duty is to ensure ideological compliance with progressive diktats. One does not dare complain about the political correctness they see all around.

The military was the last noble institution to be soiled by the Left. Their conquest of our once republic is complete.
