MOTHER OF SEAL: 'I BELIEVE THAT OBAMA MURDERED MY SON'
San Diego Union Tribune ^ | 11/2/12 | JEANETTE STEELE & NATHAN MAX

A father and a mother used the word “murder.” A brother said he won’t second-guess decisions made in the heat of battle.

The families of three Americans killed in the Sept. 11 U.S. consulate attack in Benghazi, Libya, are offering widely different reactions to recent reports that U.S. personnel issued several requests for help that were turned down.

Patricia Smith, the mother of slain State Department employee Sean Patrick Smith, is now blaming President Barack Obama for her son’s death.

“I believe that Obama murdered my son,” she said Thursday from the living room of her Clairemont home. “I firmly believe this.”

Patricia Smith, who voted for Obama in 2008 at the insistence of her son, said reporting by Fox News is the basis for much of her belief that Obama is ultimately responsible for her son’s death. She said Sean, who went to Mission Bay High School but lived abroad, was a fervent supporter of the president.

Smith’s view echoes that of Charles Woods, father of Tyrone Woods, the 41-year-old former Navy SEAL from Imperial Beach who died fighting in Benghazi.

Charles Woods appeared on Fox News shows over the weekend to denounce decisions made by U.S. officials during the Libya attack.

“I’m a retired attorney, and I know that these actions legally do not constitute murder. But in my mind the people in the White House, all of them who have authority to send in reinforcements to prevent what they knew was going to be the death of my son, are guilty of murdering my son,” Woods said Sunday on Fox’s Sean Hannity show.

The older brother of Glen Doherty, a former Navy SEAL from Encinitas working as a U.S. security contractor, said Doherty and Tyrone Woods were part of the force that responded to the consulate attack.

“They rescued a bunch of people and brought them to the (consulate) annex, and then people defended the annex after Glen and Ty fell. All those people didn’t get overrun and wiped out. They had enough people to fight off that battle,” said Greg Doherty, who lives in Kensington in Northern California.

In that light, Doherty said the debate over needing more help doesn’t make sense to him, unless it might have been U.S. airstrikes against a mortar position used by attackers.

“But then you are getting into real specific strategy, and I don’t think it is civilians’ job to pick apart an actual battle and talk strategy, unless you are a general,” said Doherty, reached by telephone Thursday.

“It just seems like people are looking to direct their anger at Obama somehow.”

The debate about how the administration handled security for the Libya consulate is heating up in the week before the presidential election.

Despite that, Charles Woods, reached by U-T San Diego Thursday afternoon, said, “I don’t want this to become political and become dishonoring to Ty.”

He declined to answer any further questions.

The extended Navy SEAL community around San Diego is talking about the details of the Libya attacks.

Former SEAL Brent Gleeson, who served from 2000 to 2005, said some of the chatter is that Woods and Doherty asked for permission to respond, once bullets were flying, but they were told to stand down — also what Fox News reported.

The CIA and Defense Department have denied those reports.

Gleeson said it’s hard to speculate why Woods and Doherty might have been ordered to stay put. One possibility is that they were so outnumbered that the danger of death was great and possibility of success small.

“If they are given the green light to go in and help, and they both die, that makes the decision-maker look bad,” he said.

Gleeson said it’s debatable whether outside help might have arrived in time. Flying in troops from elsewhere would have required support on the ground.

“Logistically speaking, it’s not as black and white as people are making it sound. It’s not just, call for help and they fly in the reinforcements,” Gleeson said.

“If they fly people in, well great, how are they going to get to the target? They need vehicles. Where from? Unless the vehicles are staged there already, logistically in that situation it’s kind of a nightmare. They weren’t prepared for this, obviously.”

Calling in air support would have brought challenges, as well.

“There’s certainly the possibility of air cover, but then you are talking also about moving air assets into Libyan airspace — which would have spawned a whole other situation,” Gleeson said.

Doherty’s family has created a charitable organization in his name. Details can be found at glendohertyfoundation.org.

However, in his new Red Cross campaign ad, Barry says we should always have each other’s backs. What the Fluke is up with that?

Her son along with the other 3 sons. I actually think Obama wanted the Ambassador killed maybe he knew something and had to be done away with the other 3 were just extra.

Obama is an evil man I wonder if he hurt or tortured animals when he was younger.

I feel deeply sorry for this mother. The talentless unfunny gap-toothed a**h**e who supposedly does late night comedy was oh so supportive of Cindy Sheehan, but likely won't give a rats ass about this poor woman. I have less than zero respect for people like that on the left.

OBAMA IS GUILTY OF DERELICTION OF DUTY!!! He utterly failed to assist these Americans when he KNEW they were in trouble and now has covered up his dereliction. If a military office did this too his troops, he would be relieved of his command and his career would be over. Maybe even courts-martialed. Obama, like Rudy said, NEEDS TO RESIGN. But, as we all know, THE COWARD OF ISLAM WILL NOT. His mission to destroy the big Satan has not been completed. He needs four more years.

It’s disgusting but FOX seemed to swing over to Barry after Barry did his Sandy photo ops before going off to Vegas.

“I think (president’s name) murdered my son.”

Cindy Sheehan or Patricia Smith

It seems another mother feels much the same way. Investigation of the unsolved murder of Rev Wright's choir director would be a great use of Gloria Allred's passion to help women, and the $5M from Trump to dig dirt on 'Bath House Barry'. There is real dirt that might be pretty simple to turn up.

Well, the Red Cross ads are paid spots. They're prolly buying as many spots as they can on Fox to try and sucker as many independents as they can, before Tuesday.

NO SALE, 0 and Red Cross!

This just makes Red Cross look bad. The Salvation Army ads are much more effective.

“Murder” is the word where Obama is concerned.

I believe he’s the greatest mass murderer in American history.

And a filthy islamist to boot.

If it were a GOP incumbent President accused of murder by these parents the weekend before the election, the media would be going after it like pit bulls on a pork chop. NBC would devote a 3-hour primetime special to them and then re-play it in a continuous loop through Election Day.

Benghazi will have a big effect on election. It will move few dems, a fair number of indies, a drive a massive GOP turnout.

Me, I was politically asleep until Benghazi started to unravel as a cover up. Every conservative I know is very motivated and fired up.

“They rescued a bunch of people and brought them to the (consulate) annex, and then people defended the annex after Glen and Ty fell. All those people didn’t get overrun and wiped out. They had enough people to fight off that battle,” said Greg Doherty, who lives in Kensington in Northern California. Isn't this guy a bit hypocritical since he himself is a civilian evaluating the combat action that took place in Benghazi? He makes it sound like there was an organized force that fought off the attackers. That's not what happened. The staff was not a military reaction force. They didn't fight off the attack; they escaped, leaving behind a destroyed complex, classified documents and four dead Americans, including an ambassador whose body was abused. The military forces that are trained for these contingencies were standing by and ready to respond, but for some reason (and against the theater commander's (Ham's) judgement, they were forced to stand down. Unfortunately, Doherty's brother and mother are Obama apologists, who will not or cannot face the truth that their political messiah left their loved one to die when actions could have been taken.

My prayers for you and your family, Ma’am, for the loss of your Son. He lived and died with valor, something of which Obama is completely devoid. As far as having murdered your Son, I believe as you do.

When you think about it, the Food Stamp President committed the most heinous of crimes ... political murder ... he allowed them to die for political reasons. He could not allow his party (communist party) or his ego to be damaged by the truth coming out.

As Mark Steyn said, few if any other countries have real time surveillance of attacks like this. We had military assets which could have responded one hour away. The fighting lasted something like 7 hours.

If the most powerful nation in the world that spends more than the top 30 nations combined on the military can’t defend a small “consulate” (really a CIA HQ) than who could?

Obama is a murderer, liar and coward and is unfit to be president.
