CNN: Intelligence official offers new timeline for Benghazi attack

A senior U.S. Intelligence official discounted a Fox news report from last Friday that said officials within the CIA chain of command denied repeated requests from its officers on the ground to assist during the attack on the U.S. mission in Benghazi.

The official insisted that the CIA operators on the ground were in charge of their movements and the safety of those who were preparing to respond was also an important consideration.

"There were no orders to anybody to stand down in providing support," the official said.

The official detailed the minute by minute account of what they say happened that night. There was a roughly 25 minute gap between when the officers at a nearby annex received the call for help from the mission to when the officers were able to get on their way to assist. During that time the officers at that annex location were getting their weapons loaded into vehicles, while others were on the phone trying to get local "friendly" militias with heavier weapons to help.

So, let me get this straight. It is common knowledge that Al Qaeda is everywhere in Benghazi. Yet, it takes the CIA 25 minutes to get into protection mode. Really?

No, as you probably figured, that seems not to be true — they (Woods) were ready to go earlier and apparently chomping at the bit, with the motor already running. Is my understanding, and fits with the scene, though can’t find the source now on my “other device”.

“A senior U.S. Intelligence official discounted a Fox news report from last Friday...”

But, not in any substantive way. The goal of this article was to state this lead. => Fox is wrong...everything’s cool -dude! (What a fragile world view these people have.)

in retrospect, your /sarc was very clear. I’m just so angry about the petulant boy king who clearly abrogated his responsibility. Was he even in the situation room as this situation unfolded?

And how could someone in a position of power at the WH not have throttled him and get arrested ... ?? Do we have here an answer to the question “who can we trust to stand against evil?” (no one!) ?
