God is in control.. God can stop them in their tracks.
If this storm does not stop them then a good old Sun flare can.

Old Sarge, i agree this can be used to delay revelations regarding Benghazi-gate. Only temporarily. The dam will breach.

CAT1? My ‘first’ was CAT4 Audrey in ‘57 living in south La. Now today in metro areas, its BIG news if the electricity is out for a while and they can’t watch their real-life drama TV shows.

Not to minimize the danger of any high winded storm, but the HYPE on a CAT1 is what is revealing to what is defined as ‘hardship’.

We are not the rugged individuals we used to be. Now we depend on FEMA and the government, shared risk and common denominators.

good luck out there.

NELSON111 is a meteorologist of 25 years experience...

I'd sure love to hear his take on this storm. I'm up for being educated.

I was on a special flight to Biloxi after Elana. That was a rough storm. This one is rain and high surf. That billions of loss comes from the NYC mayor shutting down.

I live on Long Island, on the north shore of Nassau County. Manhasset Bay is literally across the street from me, and we don’t yet plan to evacuate. As a political employee of Nassau County, I’ve been asked to help out with opening the shelters tomorrow. It’s in my best interest to try and get them running smoothly, since that may be where my family and I end up if it looks like the surge is going to flood my living room tomorrow night. By my estimate, 4.5 ft more than today may do it...

Could this be for Political reasons?

Absolutely. It has occurred to me that the reason meteorologists are so confused and have "never seen a pattern like this" is because satellite imagery has been tampered with.

I’m not quite sure what Obama is going to do to capitalize on this storm; the good news is that he is an incompetent fool.

One political conundrum he has is whether or not to close the government offices in DC. As of 1730 on Sunday 10/28 the Office of Personnel Management announced that government offices in the DC area would be closed to the public, but also announced that it is going to be a working day for federal employees. The fundamental problem with this is that the public transit agency in the DC area, WMATA, has announced that all bus and subway service is suspended until further notice, meaning that more than half of the workforce (300,000+ people) have no way to get to work. Downtown DC will be hopelessly snarled with traffic the way it was in February 2010 when the Dear Reader demanded that the government reopen after the gigantic snowstorms, despite the fact that almost none of the downtown streets had been plowed.

My wife and I made an executive decision and evacuated on Saturday to her mother’s house in northern Indiana. Traffic was light to moderate on the way out here and we made it in about 10 hours. There was heavy rain between Pittsburgh and Cleveland, but the afternoon became sunnier and more beautiful as we reached northwestern Ohio and Indiana.

The big problem in DC after the storm passes through will be that the electrical grid will be wrecked once again. On Saturday, I noticed four large caravans of utility service trucks heading east. I saw more such caravans yesterday. I estimate that 50-75% of the metropolitan area will not have electricity for at least a week. Unlike the derecho storm when it was warm to hot outside, it is starting to get cold in the DC area, particularly at night. My advice to anyone north of the James River and east of the Appalachians is to pack what you can safely carry, get in the car and start going west immediately.

A fellow from Mississippi called the local radio show, and stated,
“When all that’s left of your house is the slab, then we’ll talk about hurricanes.”

It seems that the most important NorthEast quadrant of the country, by means of all the reporters and weatherman freakouts, must be getting ready to suffer more than anything that Hurricane Katrina ever wrought.

Sorry, folks, but IMHO, the NYC - Washington beltway thinks it rates higher than the rest of the country, by its very existence.

Listen to the warnings.
Get yo’ butt out.
Get yo’ dog and cat out.
Go inland, and have the money to stay there, at the oncoming price inflation that will occur, no matter where you land!
Oh, and finally, make sure you are armed. Folks will recognize you are from out-of-town.

What? Can anything manmade survive 80 mph wind gusts? Who is asking this ridiculous question?

Shoot. Here in Kansas we get 80 mph wind gusts on clear spring days when cold fronts move through.

You’re not evacuating?

Write the SSNs of each family member on their arms with a Sharpie. (Actually the best location is on the ribcage under their arm, statistically that bit of skin is most likely to survive damage in the event, subsequent decay and scavengers)

When God sends a warning act on it.
Don’t ignore the door to door.
Don’t ignore the truck.
Don’t ignore the boat.
Don’t ignore the helicopter.

And most of all don’t ask Him face-to-face why he didn’t answer your prayers!

I’ve got one question...

If Katrina was Bush’s fault...

Is Sandy Obama’s fault?
