It will still be a rainy windy week but no apocalypse in the forecast.
Check out this animated satellite image. Run it manually in both directions to get a feel for what is happening. It looks like the two storms are gonna put Chicago in the squeeze.

I feel sure the models will be seen to be accurate. If you look at the latest flash animationsfor the Eastern U.S. at the NHC satellite link ( I think "water vapor" is the best representation, ) you will see the cause of this predicted turn as it's about to happen. There's a North Atlantic low with it's own cyclonic rotation that has been stationed there the whole time, and "Sandy" is just now coming up against it. By appearances, it will be squished back to the west, if that's not too technical :-)
this is an attempt to get Benghazi out of the news. Why else would this Frankenstorm garner so much attention?
>>Latest map shows storm is moving slowly back northeast, off the coast.
Accuweather seems to have been pretty wrong. Storm has turned towards NJ, surge is already measured in the feet here in CT. Seeing a live view of the pier in New London CT, the ferry parking lot is flooded already.
NOAA storm track seems to be pretty spot-on, I am hopeful they missed the damage estimates by a lot, but coastal flooding is going to be pretty bad.
