Hurricane Sandy From Space

NASA

Just in case you thought the Hurricane hype couldn't get any louder, check out this dispatch from Weather Channel meterologist Stu Ostro:

- History is being written as an extreme weather event continues to unfold, one which will occupy a place in the annals of weather history as one of the most extraordinary to have affected the United States.

- REGARDLESS OF WHAT THE OFFICIAL DESIGNATION IS NOW OR AT/AFTER LANDFALL -- HURRICANE (INCLUDING IF "ONLY" A CATEGORY ONE), TROPICAL STORM, POST-TROPICAL, EXTRATROPICAL, WHATEVER -- OR WHAT TYPE OF WARNINGS ARE ISSUED BY THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE AND NATIONAL HURRICANE CENTER -- PEOPLE IN THE PATH OF THIS STORM NEED TO HEED THE THREAT IT POSES WITH UTMOST URGENCY...

- With Sandy having already brought severe impacts to the Caribbean Islands and a portion of the Bahamas, and severe erosion to some beaches on the east coast of Florida, it is now poised to strike the northeast United States with a combination of track, size, structure and strength that is unprecedented in the known historical record there...

- A meteorologically mind-boggling combination of ingredients is coming together:

“worthless Al Roker”, cannot be said enough.

As soon as Odinga was elected, his leading white chick started imitating Moochele by wearing a boob belt.....that is when I said “click” with ye ol remote and never went back.

Sandy could help delivery Pennsylvania to Romney, as the pro-Obama masses on the eastern end of the state, Philadelphia, are bogged down in recovery, but the Pro-Romney forces on the West, Pittsburgh & surrounding areas, are unaffected and go vote.

BTW, I found a cool link under this Business Insider article to a bunch of New York City livecams, for those who want to follow this storm’s progress:

Yes. It’s not a big deal as Hurricanes go, but it will likely dump a lot of water/snow/ice wherever it goes

“The Great Blizzard of 1978 was a historic blizzard which struck the Ohio Valley and Great Lakes from January 25–27, 1978. The 28.28 inches (958 millibars) barometric pressure measurement recorded in Cleveland, Ohio was the lowest non-tropical atmospheric pressure ever recorded in the mainland United States until the Upper Midwest Storm of October 26, 2010 (28.20” measured at 5:13PM CDT at Bigfork Municipal Airport, Bigfork, MN). The lowest central pressure for the 1978 blizzard was 28.05” (953 mb) measured in southern Ontario a few hours after the aforementioned record in Cleveland Star Tribune”

I remember that storm. I was going to Case Western Reserve and was planning to go in that Monday morning. The wind has been blowing from the previous day at 40 mph or more, we had 10 inches on the ground Monday morning. Then the wind picked up to 100 mph and we got another 10 inches. CWRU closed for the first time in 25 years.

Pretty spectacular.

I think obama will issue an EO allowing him to cast votes for people who can't get out themselves.

I think Obama should do the smart thing and suspend his campaign. It worked well for the last guy to try that... wait...

The MSM is resorting to high drama to detract viewers from Obama sinking poll numbers.

"it is now poised to strike the northeast United States with a combination of track, size, structure and strength that is unprecedented in the known historical record there.."

Know this - An angel is directing this storm. If the voters of what is supposed to be a God worshiping America won't purge the filth and scum of the Democrat Party from Washington D.C., then there will no longer be an America. Clinton was the second to the last chance. Obama is the last chance.

Freeper Nelson’s posts have been most informative. I am in So FL and watched the biggest tidal full moon flooding in years come out our storm drains this morning. If the full impact of this storm hits at high tide, a great deal of people are going to get a very bad surprise. No matter the timing, big old trees are coming down.

Check out this animated satellite image. Run it manually in both directions to get a feel for what is happening. It looks like the two storms are gonna put Chicago in the squeeze.

You can’t say ever. The weather has only been measured for around a 100 years. Use your brain before posting nonsense.

I was on the top floor of ImMorrill Tower at Ohio State during that storm. Water was sloshing back and forth in the commodes. Hangers were banging against each other in the closets. And you couldn’t see the stadium from the dorm the snow was coming down so hard. It was a great time to be a freshman!

No meteorologist has ever seen this combination of fronts coming together so it is unique, plus it is extremely large with very low pressure and THAT is unique, too.

PLUS it hits shore during a full moon.

I’m in NY state and already have wind. And there’s a LOT of leaves on the trees for wind to catch. Add soaked soil and it ain’t going to be pretty.

Schools are being converted to shelters. Shoreline homes are being evacuated and people are going to shelters.
