I am not so sure of that. They elected Roosvelt four times.
It is not so much the temper of the people, it is what they know, and what they know that is not so.
A great number of people in the U.S.A. Know a lot that is not so.
It was Roosevelt or communism/fascism, in many minds. Many thought that “capitalism” had failed them. They were wrong, of course, but at least they didn’t go the way of Stalin or Hitler.
You are my favorite author, when are you going to come out with something new? Don’t use that old excuse about rumors of your death NOT being exaggerated this time, if dead people can vote they can certainly write books.
You are spot on about this,”A great number of people in the U.S.A. Know a lot that is not so.” It is even worse though, a great many Americans know a lot of things that could not even POSSIBLY be so. It is one thing to take fiction seriously but Americans are now taking fantasy seriously. I suspect I have done so on occasions myself but I am trying with all due diligence to never do so again.
