The truth about the tea party
politico ^ | 10-20-12 | Joe Scarborough

"Why is the Tea Party destroying the Republican Party?”

That’s a leading question that I have been asked repeatedly from media pundits and Democratic politicians over the past three years. Over that time, Democratic politicians and media pundits have almost universally accused the Tea Party of bringing ruin to the Grand Old Party. According to this skewed narrative, Republican leaders were once bipartisan, rational and almost worthy of getting invitations to Georgetown cocktail parties. Now they are Manchurian candidates held captive by the right-wing beasts whose only goal is to infect the minds of real-life Nick Brodys who dominate the U.S. House.

Sometimes, mainstream publications and Democratic leaders even go so far as to say kind things about Ronald Reagan as a way to attack the Tea Party. They speak glowingly of Reagan and contrast him with the barbarians who now run the Republican Party. This, of course, conveniently overlooks the nasty attacks Reagan once endured at the hands of those who now cynically praise the 40th president.

But let’s not get bogged down by history. Instead, we can blow apart this fanciful meme by reviewing the Tea Party’s short history. Let’s simply review how terrible the Tea Party has been for the GOP.

— They energized a conservative movement battered by eight years of bloated Republicanism,

— they shocked the political world by taking Ted Kennedy’s seat

— they put Obama Democrats in a constant defensive crouch

— they led the resistance against Obamacare,

— they helped bring about the largest legislative landslide in U.S. history in 2010,

— they grabbed six seats in the U.S. Senate that year,

— they helped elect six governors,

— they helped win 700 seats in state legislatures, and

The Tea Party hasn’t done half the damage to the Republican Party as this jerk has. He was a RINO in Congress and now he’s a Democrat in a GOP suit.

The Republican Establishment and their herd of RINOs are what’s destroying the GOP. The Tea Party are the only one’s preserving conservative values and as this article proves, we are working to ensure that those values are carried on by removing those who don’t live up to those values and usher in new leadership of those who will.

Um, Joe Scarborough? He honestly wrote this?

These are mainstream ideas that used to permeate both the republican and democratic parties. Not just the Tea Party.

And Joe used to espouse the very same.

As most normal Americans still do.

The lightbulb has just gone off in his RINO brain. When Obama loses and NBC cuts their losses, Joe is going to have to go somewhere if he wants to eat.

This is his attempt to regain (or just gain) credibility.

Maybe even Scarborough is beginning to understand the Tea Party was right all along about the great economic disaster which would result from the so-called "progressive" policies of spending, deficit and debt. Of course, America's Founders knew it all along and warned of the dire consequencees:

"To preserve [the] independence [of the people,] we must not let our rulers load us with perpetual debt. We must make our election between economy and liberty, or profusion and servitude. If we run into such debts as that we must be taxed in our meat and in our drink, in our necessaries and our comforts, in our labors and our amusements, for our callings and our creeds, as the people of England are, our people, like them, must come to labor sixteen hours in the twenty-four, give the earnings of fifteen of these to the government for their debts and daily expenses, and the sixteenth being insufficient to afford us bread, we must live, as they now do, on oatmeal and potatoes, have no time to think, no means of calling the mismanagers to account, but be glad to obtain subsistence by hiring ourselves to rivet their chains on the necks of our fellow-sufferers." --Thomas Jefferson to Samuel Kercheval, 1816. ME 15:39

"I deem [this one of] the essential principles of our government and consequently [one] which ought to shape its administration:... The honest payment of our debts and sacred preservation of the public faith." --Thomas Jefferson: 1st Inaugural, 1801. ME 3:322

"I sincerely believe... that the principle of spending money to be paid by posterity under the name of funding is but swindling futurity on a large scale." --Thomas Jefferson to John Taylor, 1816. ME 15:23

"[With the decline of society] begins, indeed, the bellum omnium in omnia [war of all against all], which some philosophers observing to be so general in this world, have mistaken it for the natural, instead of the abusive state of man. And the fore horse of this frightful team is public debt. Taxation follows that, and in its train wretchedness and oppression." --Thomas Jefferson to Samuel Kercheval, 1816. ME 15:40

Tea Party’s been pretty terrible to YOU, too, Schmo.

People are waking up to the fact that YOUR crowd is the worst enemy of the American people-—you slobs are whores for this sodomite in office, and when he hits the skids—guess what?—you and your ilk are gonna feel the unemployment numbers just like we have. No one is gonna forget the role YOU played in this. No one.

When the tea party backs good candidates, they are the best America has to offer.

Unfortunately, the tea party backs people only with a certain ideology, some are good and some are bad.

Christine O’Donnell- you would not want her to run a kids lemonade stand or rent your spare bedroom.

Sharon Angle- not a bad person, but against Harry Reid, you want to send up a professional like Sue Lowden, not an amateur.

The no name idiot in NY-23- It amazes me that he has a wife because as a deaf mute, he could not ask her to marry him. But I guess he could have written the proposal on a piece of paper.

Todd Akin- snatching defeat from the jaws of victory and a loss in MO when almost anyone could have beat the crook McCaskill.

Tea party is wonderful, but the first litmus test must be competence above ideology.

It’s so sweet that the Dems are worried about the future of the Republican party - those mean ol’ Tea Partiers! (sarc.)

HEY JOE! JOE SCARBOROUGH, YEAH, YOU!

When you write “ - - - But let’s not get bogged down by history. - - - “ , you have just made the point that you do not understand where the Taxed Enough Already came from.

The GOP has embraced long ago the values of the “Me Too” Republicans In Name Only, (RINO), Party.

These RINOs are dedicated to Caving-In to Democrats, an infinite expansion of the Federal Welfare Entitlement Plantation, and infinite taxation to those with ability, and infinite help to those in need.

One might say that the RINOs and Democrats are two sides of the same Marxist coin. Fittingly enough that coin is the US Penny, which can pay for nothing by itself, and each penny costs 1.5 pennies to mint.

To return to “History” Joe, remember the Press, (yep, Media was not a big term back then), railing on and on about “Voter Apathy?”

Remember all the lamenting about “The Silent Majority?’

What happened to those two groups of voters, Joe? Where did they go?

Will there be a “Silent Majority” watching tomorrow night as the Media Moderator “Crowleys” ANOTHER Presidential Debate?

Will there be “Voter Apathy” in 2014 if Romney does not totally repeal Obama”care?”

On a wrap of one of your morning show broadcasts entitled “ Just Sip, and Pull the Snuggy Socialist Blankee over our heads today, New Yorkers” ask why NONE of your “guests” are from The Silent Majority of the past decades?

Ask rather, why voter apathy resides only in the soon to be irrelevant RINO Party?

BTW, tell Mica that we appreciate her dramatic eye-roll as it helps us identify the hot-button topics that we Conservatives need to emphasize to get America back on the Right Track.

I'm stunned by how the MSM has demonized the "Tea Party". AFAIK, they don't even speak of "social issues" like abortion or race or gay marriage.

All they want is a return to Constitutional government.

Primarily taxes and spending.

If you ask a "regular guy" on the street what he thinks of things, betcha he's in tune with the reviled "Tea Party" 90% of the time.
