Same here,A 17 year old(will be 18 by the time registering to vote ends here in Alabama)that I talked to today is voting for Romney, because he knows what Obama has done.Had him call the registrars office today and he was told to come in and register and he would be added to the list on his birthday.Though , I still see trouble for the Country in the future.

WE HAVE A GREAT CANDIDATE. The right man for the right time. He is appearing more and more Reaganesque everyday. I have high hopes for the Presidency.

Presidential elections draw more voters than mid-term elections. However, the 2008 election drew 130 million voters.

By 2010 that was down to 85 million voters.

Just so we know what the base numbers are ~ now, regarding non-voters. There are supposedly 90 million adult Americans who are eligible to vote who never vote! That gives you a total 220 million possible voters if everybody showed up.

58 million people who were required to file income tax forms ended up not owing anything. Round that off to 60 million ~ if that's the 47% you are concerned with, that could fit in that 90 million, but it's not far off the number who vote only for President ~ which includes plenty of Republicans.

Then there are chilluns ~ who don't earn income and don't pay taxes on it, but as we discovered not long ago a new grand daughter wasn't going to be let out of the hospital UNLESS a Virginia tax was paid for the declaration of her birth.

Unh, hunh, new borns get taxed ~ everybody gonna' get taxed ~ no one escapes without being taxed!

They'll tax you when you're gnawing on a bone; they'll tax you in the shelter of your home; everybody gonna get taxed ~ hunh unh, hunh, unh.

BTW, there are a lot more multi millionaires than there used to be who ended up not owing any income tax the last four years of the Great Obama Recession ~ you don't imagine they were cheating do you?

Did you pay your federal personal income tax in full and on time? Did you file for an extension to file? Did you ever round deductions up and earnings down? Did you know there are machines that can analyze your filing and detect your state of anxiety?

'bama has already got his battle bots on the job doing class warfare and you haven't got a chance. I'd review that quarterly filing quickly ~

The one that makes me want to throw a brick at the tv is that obnoxious, annoying, pompous, arrogant woman Jehmu or something. I think her last name is Green. She is sooooo rude.

That is a lower percentage of non-voters than I believed it to be. I thought that less than 50% of eligible voters actually voted. Perhaps that is from times long passed.

The Massachusetts RINO will win in a landslide whether you vote or not. The GOP doesn't need conservatives this time around, Obama has been THAT bad. So Romney will win and the fiscal collapse will happen almost immediately after and he will then be blamed by the liberals...Wash, rinse, repeat.

No question about it. Please inform me of my other options (breathlessly waiting).

That's why i stuffed the numbers in there for presidential versus mid-term elections. Since we only vote for 1/3 of the senate at a whack, you get a big fall off on mid-terms just due to the lack of senators.

it's a variable number.

the 47 % hasn't got much to do with voting, or even with paying taxes.

Think about why people file a federal income tax return ~ it's because they have income! There are plenty of other taxes out there to nail them.

But the number in 2010 was actually just 42% ~ or 58 million, That means there are about 130 million people who file federal income tax returns ~ and they do that because they have earned or other income that is required to be reported.

This is for a tax that was supposed to affect maybe 100,000 people when it was created.

I personally think it's a failed federal program that should be abolished.

The fact we harrass low income earners with the filing requirements ~ and the penalties for not filing ~ probably means we are encouraging people to vote we'd be better off not having vote!

I despise Colmes, but want him to stay around for O’Reilly to use as a punching bag. I don’t think Colmes is smart enough to realize O’Reilly has a great time verbally slapping him around and is the only reason he survives on FOX.

You have no other options, the majority is overwhelmingly against you. The best thing you can do is realize your position in reality and prepare for onset of the financial Armageddon that is nigh. Be well and keep your powder dry.

In Texas we begin in person early voting Monday, Oct. 22. Statewide there are about 40% of the electorate that use in person early voting.

Interesting NC story on early voting today and numbers from 2008.

I used to encourage some of my friends to vote. Especially after hearing them complain bitterly about taxes and gun control and regulations and then finding out that they didn't vote. Over the years I have heard them defend liberal politicians and demonize Republicans so I no longer say anything about voting. I consider them too stupid to make rational decisions and hope they still don't bother to vote.

My friends who are conservative don't need to be encouraged. Like me they vote no matter what and always have.
