Swallow Hard and Vote for Todd Akin: Itís Important
Townhall ^ | 10/03/2012 | Kurt Schlichter

Posted on 10/03/2012 10:19:14 AM PDT by SeekAndFind

At the end of the day, I’ll support the conservative who makes a lousy gynecologist over the liberal who makes a lousy senator.

The deadline has passed and Todd Akin has failed to take the advice of pretty much everyone else in the conservative movement and drop out of the Missouri senate race. He’s the candidate going into the election against Claire McCaskill, a liberal Democrat who provided Obama’s winning Obamacare vote and has been there every step of the way in the progressive quest to turn this country into a crony-capitalist, welfare state nightmare.

Easy call. I’ll back the guy who’s confused about where and how babies come from over the socialist enabler.

Do I have problems with Akin? Oh yeah. Sure, his comments were silly, and his decision to remain in the campaign instead of giving up his ballot position to someone without self-inflicted gunshot wounds to the feet was selfish and short-sighted. But on September 25th, the day he stopped being able to drop out, that stopped mattering.

Do I like this situation? Hell no. But I just wrote two articles on why libertarians must suck it up and vote for Mitt Romney if they wish to remain true to the Constitution and the fight for liberty. Hundreds of hemp-loving fiat money opponents decried the idea of supporting the lesser of two evils, but there, as here, the lesser is significantly lesser. We traditional conservatives need to do the same thing – hold our noses and vote for the guy who is most likely to promote conservatism.

Yeah, even if he’s made us want to smack him.

Akin is in this race, and he is not that far behind. McCaskill, the Midwestern Marxist who plays John Birch back home to trick the yokels, had a small lead a couple weeks ago when Rasmussen found her up six. But that was September 11th – the voters of the Show Me state have had another two weeks for Obama to Show Them exactly what he and his minion Condescending Claire will do with another term.

That picture isn’t pretty. If Missouri voters like sucking up to foreign mobs, watching our diplomats murdered with impunity and seeing the economy play “How Low Can You Go?” then McCaskill is their only choice. But I suspect they don’t. Todd Akin isn’t going to get a fellowship working with Stephen Hawking anytime soon, but he’s a reliable vote against the nightmare of another half-decade of liberal rule. He’ll have six years to make amends and redeem himself or get primaried – talk about an incentive to perform. All that time he’ll be a hardcore conservative vote right where we need him.

Another six years of McCaskill Obama-enabling and tax cheating antics is a powerful incentive for Missourians to swallow hard and pull the lever for Akin in the privacy of their voting booths. After all, the real problem with Todd Akin right now is that people don’t want to be seen voting for him. And the idea of supporting him makes me shiver.

It doesn’t matter that in retrospect his comments were hardly so awful as to desire the universal, hyperventilating calumny they were met with – who the hell, except the most psychotic leftist, actually thinks Akin somehow supports rape? Sure, he handed the opposition – the Democrat/Media Complex – a powerful weapon to forge a narrative. But in the end, that one gaffe may not be enough to save McCaskill.

Newt Gingrich is one of the first conservative players to come back to Missouri and work for him. Bit by bit, funders are coming back. Hopefully, the big guns who pulled out after the news will relook and give him some of the cash firepower he needs to close the gap.

But in the end, it’s the Missouri voters who will decide. Missourians won’t be voting for him. They’ll be voting against McCaskill and the toxic liberalism she represents. And putting aside her appalling political ideology and her Marie Antoinette-esque personal conduct, McCaskill isn’t about to make any contributions to the field of particle physics herself.

Here’s the bottom line this November:

If you want Obamacare repealed, you have to support Akin.

If you are against sex selection and partial birth abortion, you have to support Akin.

If you want to continue to keep and bear arms, you have to support Akin.

If you want two to four new Supreme Court judges who believe in the parts of the Constitution that are inconvenient to liberals, and who won’t find hidden new provisions that miraculously support the liberal agenda, you have to support Akin.

There is simply no contest – Missouri can choose the dumb conservative who may just be the deciding vote that saves our country, or they can choose the dumb liberal who is dead set on destroying our country.

In this case, it’s not really a tough call at all. I say go for the dumb conservative.

Actually he has said more then one stupid thing...

trying to find some sympathy here, but nope. none, the dude dug his own grave...

“You find that along with the culture of death go all kinds of other law-breaking: not following good sanitary procedure, giving abortions to women who are not actually pregnant, cheating on taxes, all these kinds of things, misuse of anesthetics so that people die or almost die.”

Abortions to women who are not actually pregnant?? um... ok.

I say go for the dumb conservative.

I'd wager $1000 that Atkin would kill this smart ass in a wide ranging debate on the issues.

Romney/Ryan are going to win Missouri.

I don't see many people pulling the lever for R&R, then crossing over to vote for LearJet McCaskill.

Yep, that’s what I reckon. What is the greater PRIORITY??

But then this reminds me of what happened to Gov. George Allen in Virginia 6 years ago when he was running for the senate.

He was doing quite well until he used the word “Macaca” to describe someone and he lost the elections.

A lot of voters have a screwed up sense of priority, they vote based on whether or not you’re LIKABLE, not whether or not you are COMPETENT.

Abortions to women who are not actually pregnant??

Planned Parenthood tells the young women that she is pregnant when she is not, and then rushes the scared female into getting an abortion on the spot, collecting the fee.

OK, I’m a little lost now.. if she isn’t pregnant and they rush her to get an abortion, WHAT THE HECK ARE THEY DOING TO HER IN THE OPERATING TABLE? Are they cutting her up and then sewing her back up again?

You are more than a little lost... Do you really think they perform some type of major C-section like operation for a first trimester abortion?

Don’t think that is how they do an abortion......

Its probably very easy to fake an abortion and undoubtedly there is no way for the gubmint, who pays, to know any difference.

OK, for the first trimester, here is what they usually do...

Manual Vacuum Aspiration: within 7 weeks after last menstrual period

Dilators (metal rods) are used to stretch the cervical muscle until the opening is wide enough for abortion instruments to pass through the uterus. A hand-held syringe is attached to tubing, which is inserted into the uterus. The fetus is suctioned out.

So, what are they going to suction out? Are they going to perform some trick into making the non-pregnant girl believe that they just suctioned out a non-existing fetus?

Yes. If she is shown anything it is material from another real abortion. Plus do you think, young girls say "She me the parts before I pay."?

He's far from an idiot. I find that most people that make statements like yours can't, with out looking, tell me the true details on Akin's standing on one thing that he holds as principles.

Abortions to women who are not actually pregnant?? um... ok.

Yup. That was revealed in the early '80s. Women were sent into the abortion mill operated by Florendo at 30 South Michigan, Chicago with MALE urine specimens.

The mill stated that the XY pee tested positive for pregnancy, and recommended abortion. Based on that, women who certainly were not pregnant were given an abortion, even though there was nothing there.

the scams these abortionists pull are so degraded and unbelievable and at times complex, that it is really hard to summarize them in a few lines, making guys like Akin who try to do so sound strange.

Yep, and that just his latest.
We have several more weeks to go.

Why does he say all this stuff? It’s not helping him win.

For the record, there probably have been scum abortion providers who have done abortion procedures on non pregnant women just to collect the fee. The problem is, Akin has NOTHING to back up his statement. It’s just his musings. Where is the evidence?

The media is making a big deal about this new flub, but as usual, no mention of it on FR.

Hey, I get it. If it’s not on FR, it’s not happening and no won else is reading about it anywhere else.

I tried to find a link for that and couldn’t find it.

That's largely because I was citing from memory. I was a sidewalk counselor at that mill during the time. I met at least one of the women who went in with the substitute sample. This particular operation was largely covered in a series in the Chicago Sun-Times called "Meet the Abortion Providers" back in 1979 (Florendo was also involved in Medicaid fraud, among other things). Unfortunately, that paper does not do a good job of providing archives on line.

It is rare that an MSM publication does such good work. The "Meet the Abortion Providers" series in '79 was one. The Washington Post's publication of Stephen Mosher's coverage of Red China's One-Child policy was another. An article in Harpers' by Tom Bethell (1983?) sympathetic to Creationism, and focusing on taxonomists who admitted that the discussion was largely political was a third. Such publications are rarer these days.

That’s the problem.

While I am certain what Akin said has happened, there seems to be no record of it. No evidence. The women who this happened to would be none the wiser, it’s a perfect scam.

The only evidence would if some abortion mill worker came forward and said “we did abortions on women who were not pregnant” and her story was corroborated. I can’t find anything of the sort.

So WHY THE HELL does Akin make comments like this that he cannot back up (even if it’s perfectly plausible that they could be true)? Does it help him win?

NO.

A stand by my opinion of this man from the beginning. He is an idiot.

Didn’t really want the graphic detail.........., but how is the party laying on the table supposed to know what they are doing, heck suction sounds in the dentist office probably sound the same.

I’m just saying, its easy to pretend and charge the money and we all know its all about the money.
