220 lb. Queens NY Phys Ed Teacher Beaten Up by Six-Year-Old 1st Grader ... Teacher Plans to Sue City

Queens teacher suing city claiming he was beaten up by a first-grader

‘Tiny terror,’ 6, unleashes wrath at school

A hulking Queens gym teacher and former college football player claims a pupil fractured his ankle, injured his knee and forced him to go to a shrink for stress — even though the kid was only 50 pounds and in first grade.

Burly, 220-pound PS 330 teacher John Webster, 27, said a 4-foot-2 Rodrigo Carpio, 6, also kicked and pinched the Elmhurst school’s principal, a security officer and another teacher during a rampage in April.

“It’s sort of like an angel-devil sort of thing,” said the 5-foot-10 Webster, who recently filed a notice of his intent to sue the city and says he must now wear braces on his right ankle and knee.

“[Rodrigo] looks like an angel, but then, all of a sudden, that halo turns into horns. It’s been a nightmare. It’s embarrassing. It’s humiliating.”

But Rodrigo’s dad, Jorge Carpio, 44, scoffed: “The lawsuit is totally absurd. How could my little boy do so much damage? My poor son.”

The boy’s mom added, “This is a terrible thing to say [about] a child.”

“To every mother, their child is an angel,” said Josefa Marcia da Silva, 33, of her son, now 4-foot-3 and 64 pounds. “I know that he has problems, but he doesn’t deserve to be called such names.”

But Webster’s claims are backed up by an April 26 school “occurrence report” filed by the principal that says Rodrigo “was physically aggressive” and karate-kicked Webster in the knee and ankle that day.

Webster was accompanying Rodrigo and other students to the cafeteria for lunch when the boy started horseplaying, the teacher told The Post.

Speaking as a teacher - and a veteran who does have some knowledge as to how to defend himself - I just want people to consider that in many cases, in many places, teachers are unable to effectively defend themselves because if they hurt a child - even slightly - it’s the end of their career. I’ve seen a number of colleagues hurt by small children because they have been required to accept and absorb repeated attacks without doing anything effective to restrain or prevent the attacks.

In related news Webster also bought a lottery ticket. He didn’t have to consult with a lawyer for that, and will only have to split the winnings with the government.

However, if this teacher had so much as giving this kid a bearhug, to restrain him, the teacher would have been up on charges of abuse.

So, I do actually give some credence to the story.

And if he had defended himself against the little psycho he’d be in jail.

If the guy even scratched the child while trying to protect himself, he would have been at risk of losing his job.

Any kid that does something like this should be taken out of regular classes and put in an alternative school with the rest of the delinquents, before he hurts someone else.

She could have "accidentally" tripped and fallen on the little angel.

That was the first thought to come to my mind when I read the headline. The teacher obviously didn't want to go to prison.

I know a former New York school teacher. The nanny state has created such a horrible education system, that kids can be monstrous without consequences.

In the olden days had a child even though about misbehaving like this, the teacher would have picked him up by the scruff of his neck and swatted him on the bottom. Then he would have gotten paddled when he got home. Now they are sent to alternative school where they learn to be even bigger brats.

NYC teachers and school aides are told that even if a child comes at them with a weapon, they are supposed to back away and let the Police handle it. The teachers and aides are told that they will be brought up on charges and if the teacher or aide is sued by the parent, the city will not back them up. Some of these kids are really messed up. Quite a few of the parents are druggies and welfare types who know how to game the system.

According to the article, the kid was known to be a problem. The parents are claiming he couldn’t do something like that, but admit that he is on medication to control it.

Forget the teacher’s ego, this kid is a disaster waiting to happen. He should be kicked out of school for assaulting a teacher (actually two of them, according to the article).

When someone thinks it is serious enough to call the cops (although the cops did nothing), its time to deal with the problem, decisively.
