emocratic incumbent Bill Nelson still leads Republican Connie Mack in Florida's hotly contested U.S. Senate race.
A new Rasmussen Reports telephone survey of Likely Voters in the Sunshine State finds Nelson with 47% support to Macks 40%. Five percent (5%) prefer some other candidate, while eight percent (8%) are undecided. (To see survey question wording, click here.)
The latest findings show no change from mid-August. Florida remains Leans Democrat in the Rasmussen Reports Senate Balance of Power rankings. Nelson was first elected to the Senate in 2006 to fill the seat vacated by Macks father.
President Obama has now moved slightly ahead in the presidential race in Florida despite the presence of the Republican National Convention in Tampa late last month. But Florida remains a Toss-Up in the Rasmussen Reports Electoral College Projections.
Nelson is viewed favorably by 51% of Florida voters and unfavorably by 38%. This includes 21% with a Very Favorable opinion and 20% with a Very Unfavorable one.
For Mack, favorables are 40% and unfavorables 48%, including 17% with a Very Favorable view of him and 24% with a Very Unfavorable one. This marks little change for either man from a month ago.

Why is Mack viewed so unfavorably?
Me too, last poll I saw had Mack leading.
It's generally viewed here, by even the libs at the TampaBayTimes, that if Nelson is to win..he will have to run several points AHEAD of Obama...which will eb very hard to do.
Are the commies going to take FL?
Sounds like the popular “astronaut” will pull Obama to victory in FL, and with that the certain reelection. Republican primary voters will be held ultimately accountable for making such a weak nomination.
Last week, Mack was leading in this race. I guess the commie ‘RATS propaganda is starting to work. That and soaring gas prices, a crummy economy and Americans getting their asses kicked in the Middle East by the Muzzie Bros. The Entitled sure do vote funny.
That was 2000.
1 month and a half to go

Smear campaign. Bar fights, road rage, no shows.. etc...
When does the early voting start? Especially for our troops
y’all can bash poll all you want but lets be honest the polls for republicans and Romney look a little bleak at this point.
Seriously, are people effing nuts in this country?!!
It is near a crime against a once free people that elected Senators serve for six years. The smarmy demagogue Nelson is the poster child.
Mack is a rino I will happily vote in November. Here in NW FL, I have not seen or heard a single advert for him. He is invisible.
yes
Pretty unintelligent at any rate. Shows what can be accomplished by making so many dependent on government redistribution from the makers to the takers.
UGH!!!! Horrible news. The ads Nelson is running really make Mack look bad.
To the combative go the spoils. There is no fight in the republicans....
When a republican does show fight like Sarah or Backman their own party devowers them...
Counting on republicans to preserve liberty is a fools errand....
A month or so ago, there was a poll that had Mack up by about 7 points, I believe. Many were skeptical and looks like they had good reason to be.
If we’re screwed in FL, Obama wins. Once again the MSM and a lackluster Romney campaign appear to give us a repeat of 2008. But ultimately, we now have a tribal electorate who vote their tribe. The Rats have figured out a way to appeal to each tribe.
That’s because all the political ads are down here in the I-10 corridor. When I lived in Tallahassee there were no ads. Not here in the Tampa bay area.
This really sucks. Nelson is ripe for defeat. Obamugabe is not popular....
Roger that. Good. I can’t see NW FL voting for rats in any significant numbers. Obama is despised.
Does anyone remember where Rubio was at this stage of the game?
I
thought not.
I seem to recall Rubio was ahead from start to finish.
They are nuts and if Obama wins, may every single one of his a$$wipe voters get what they deserve
The number of The Entitled has soared since the “messiah” rose to the throne. I sure hope this condition isn’t permanent. Increasing the numbers of the Entitled is the only way communism can succeed.
We are not screwed in Florida. There are lots of Republicans that vote in Florida that do not have Florida numbers. I know lots of them.
Re: “Are the commies going to take FL?”
The Commies have already taken south Florida.
More than half the population comes from New York, New Jersey, or Latin America.
You are right, Hero. I remember that too. Thank you for reminding us.
Central Florida here and I haven’t seen one ad for Mack. Republican party must not be spending for the Senate race in Florida.
I agree. in 2010, our people fought hard and made their case. That's why we have a large number of brilliant, bold new leaders in DC (Rubio, West, Toomey, Lee, Johnson, and dozens of others). This time it seems like everyone from top to bottom is running with no purpose. In Florida, I see nothing from Mack or Romney that is inspiring to get behind. I don't get it, other than that the consultants took over and watered everything down.

Please. Stop being so negative. You have been drinking the polling Kool-aide. I will you ask you this question, do you think these turn out models of +10 Dems are accurate?
I learned last night at the Dodger game that you can never give up. I left the game a little early after Dodger bats had been quiet for several innings. Then listening on the car radio, the Dodgers came back to win with 2 outs in the 9th.
Unfortunately we all have to live with his policies.
He was the darling of the GOP-e though! They picked him,not the Conservatives. They thought this guy’s name recognition would give them clout.
Don’t see the establishment coming down here and campaigning for him either. Nelson’s ads are everywhere which tells me he has the money.
The Gop-e has not helped Karen Harrigan’s campaign against DWS either. I don’t hear anything about that race. Harrigan is a great candidate and they should be pouring money into Florida for these races as they will help Romney as well.
Sounds like some great vetting down there by FL GOP voters. /s
“They thought this guys name recognition would give them clout.”
Never pick a Politicians kid for elective office if at all possible too many have an entitlement attitude. I know there are good ones but sometimes it’s best to err on the side of caution in anything that can effect your life in drastic ways.
Mack represented my district in southwest Florida when I lived there. He owned a condo in my condo complex but did not reside there. Instead he lived in the heavily Democratic Palm Beach County with the beautiful people. Mack also divorced his wife to marry a fellow member of Congress, Mary Bono, widow of sSonny Bono. Mack is a playboy and opportunist, not a serious conservative or servant of the people. He is a willing puppet of the GOP elite and will do as he is told if he can get elected.
FL GOP senate primary was a game of Survivor..everyone kept dropping out..we had two or three pretty solid, conservtaive candidates, but they couldn’t get any traction
Between, this MO. and OH numbers, the Senate is all but out of reach at this time. Things can turn around but the 3 candidates in these races are incredibly weak.
By that, I take it you mean your money. /s
Cornelius McGillicuddy is no Marco Rubio.
We are making progress, they were using plus 13/18 in some polls
Did Mack fot for Obamacare? No? Well he's good enough for me this time around.
I’m flying to fl to vote. so are amny others
I’m flying to fl to vote. so are amny others
These all should be victories ....
Voters are affirming the worst legislation in 20 years - Obamacare.
shameful.
Just amazing what a difference 2 years makes. It seems whatever party has a big election, get lazy and pays the price the next time around.
Local TV is full of nasty attack ads against Mack. They seem to be having an effect.
