Report: Reward for Rushdie's death boosted in Iran

TEHRAN, Iran (AP) -- A semi-official religious foundation in Iran has increased a reward it had offered for the killing of British author Salman Rushdie to $3.3 million from $2.8 million, a newspaper reported, days after protests coursed through the Muslim world over alleged insults to the Prophet Muhammad.

Hardline Jomhoori Eslami daily and other newspapers reported on Sunday that the move appeared to be linked to protests over an amateurish anti-Islam film, which crowds in some 20 countries said drove them to defend their faith - in some cases by attacking American embassies.

Maybe they'll contract the LA County Sheriff's office to do the hit and then claim the cash.

It will be interesting to see what happens with their base if the WH keeps doubling down on this excuse. But I don't see any other recourse for Obama-Hillary because if they stop blaming the film-maker anything else leads to the administration's guilt.

Some of them over at DU today are also starting to remember again that Obama unilaterally started the war in Libya and Egypt. There used to be a lot more of those over there before it got hushed-hushed up.

Ayatollah Hassan Sanei, head of a powerful state foundation providing relief to the poor, said the film would never have been made if the order to execute Rushdie, issued by the late Iranian spiritual leader, Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini, had been carried out.
