Rupert Everett has spoken out against gay parents and said he “can’t think of anything worse” than two men bringing up a child together.
The star of the 1998 film Shakespeare in Love blazed a trail for gay actors when he came out as homosexual 20 years ago.
However, he has been criticised by gay rights groups after giving an interview in which he decried same-sex couples who have children.
The 53-year-old told the Sunday Times Magazine that his mother Sara had met his boyfriend but “still wishes I had a wife and kids.”
“She thinks children need a father and a mother and I agree with her,” he said. “I can’t think of anything worse than being brought up by two gay dads.

Of course you’re correct. Try telling that to the Rainbow machine. I am sure this actor will be forced to apologize profusely for having let the truth out in a weak moment.

I have always found British gay men (all of whom I know from theatre) have more common sense than their American counterparts. You can actually have a conversation with one of them without wanting to throw up.
With the exception of Ian McKellen, of course.

I had a friend who is a Psychology Prof at a University. Total PC Leftist. I asked her if she thought a mother and a father brought entirely different aspects of life to their children. She said ‘of course’. I then asked her why she thought she, or anyone else, thought they had the right to sentence any child to an upbringing without the influence of a MOTHER and a FATHER. She was speechless but didn’t back down from her PC approach. We are no longer friends.
I can see why. Good for you. No, they have no answer on that one, but as with your friend, they all stick to the gay parenting rights, and that is why they tried (unsuccesfully) to debunk the Regnerus study which said children of gay parents do not fare as well as those raised by their biological mothers and fathers.
There's no such thing as gay homosexuals either. They are mentally sick, self loathing and full of hate.
Right, they wanted to get Regnerus formally investigated and charged with ethics violations (they were not successful, thanks to Univ of TX’s high standards).
Stevie Wonder recently got blasted for daring to say that some “questioning” men may not actually be homosexuals.

I regulate him to the label of "genre actor" because I've only seen him playing Magneto and Gandalf. The only "straight" role (har har) I've seen him play was James Whale, creator of the "Frankenstein" movie, so still geeky/genre-y, and, come to think of it, also gay, so he wasn't really acting so much.
Yup! I agree old Rupert is sensible with this issue. However, even an imbecile may occasionally strike a sensible moment.
I remember in 2008 Rupert joined the viscious anti-GWB crowd and said some very nasty things about him.
Still, I’ll give him cheers for being willing to state the obvious - children do need a father and a mother.
