The fallout appears to linger in the Missouri Senate race, with incumbent Democrat Claire McCaskill still holding a six-point lead over Republican challenger Todd Akin. But the race is tightening.

Todd Akin would be leading if Karl Rove and the establishment Republicans had simply acknowledged he could have sued better wording and then continued to support him. Instead they cut all support and spent two weeks attacking Akin, the candidate the people of Missouri just selected by primary vote. Todd Akin has not said as many stupid and harmful things to the conservative cause as Mitt Romney. He is not being asked to sep aside. So, those still attacking him get over it and support Akin. Same thing I am being told about supporting the liberal, timid Romney, who keeps insisting Obama is a nice person.
A big assist from McCaskill and the Dems.
So if we have a Marxist republican running we should support them if they poll higher than a conservative? Oh wait, we are already doing that.
If he did that then his polls would not be accurate or objective or believable. So then why should we trust them???
One of the funniest things I've ever seen is that both rabid Lefists and brain-addled "Conservatives" attribute to Karl Rove awesome powers of mind control over millions of people.
There actually aren't that many people who know who he is, much less those whose every political belief hinges on his every word.
This is almost as stupid as blaming Karl Rove for Christine O'Donnell getting annihilated in the Delaware Senate race. Grow up.

From what I understand the Tea Party did not support Akin, either.
He’s one of the best Conservatives ever elected to Congress from MO. He certainly deserves a helluva lot more respect than the peanut gallery shows him.
How would you or anybody know that since there are so many Tea Party groups and they have no real spokesperson.
BTW Akin organized the Tea Party Caucus in Congress.
The GOP sure doesn’t have any problem supporting pro abortion Scott Brown. (Who didn’t waste any time rushing out to trash Akin)
Instead they’ll say that you have no other choice or the democrat will win.

Well a couple of them did not end up getting nominated - Hoffman though was short changed by the NY party elites as a primary did not decide the nominee and they picked some ultra liberal “Republican” even more liberal than the Dem nominee. Joe Miller - without the NRSC expenditures he wouldn’t have had any campaign at all, Sharron Angle refused NRSC coordination / training though they did spend money independently on her behalf, she raised a great deal of her own money, and Rove’s groups spent a lot of money there - O’Donnell was snubbed but she raised so much money (over $10 million) she did not need party support (but ran horrificly poorly produced ads that looked like they were made with a home movie camera and put together on Windows Movie Maker...leading off with the “I’m not a witch” ad which pretty much ended her campaign right away - no excuse for this as she had the money to hire the best media companies in the business and she did not), Buck got extensive support from the NRSC and Rove’s groups with their own expenditures on his behalf in CO in that race.

I only know what has been alleged here. However, you put your finger on the problem I have been pointing out for some time. Just WHO are real Tea Party spokesmen, leaders?
After the bogus group in NY managed to defeat the Republican running for the House by endorsing a Turd Party candidate (an “ex” Democrat) this issue became major.
That Akin formed the Tea Party Caucus in the House is very bad news for the GOP, Tea Party and the nation. Talk about giving the enemy ammunition.
And there are less now since he has disappeared from Fox News Sunday since issuing his murder joke about Akin. Perhaps his absence from there will make his heart grow fonder for the conservatives that he hates.
Actually, each one of those you listed could/can win. there’s absolutely no reason why they can’t, other than being cut off at the knees by the GOP-E.
Todd Akin - if he had even the typical funding support that the GOP gives to its candidates at this level (i.e. I’m not talking about “special handouts” here), this race would be in the bag.
Joe Miller - could have easily won if Alaska had a “sore loser” law. Unfortunately, the GOP-E largely supported Murkowski behind the scenes when she ran as an independent after losing to Miller in the primary, splitting the vote. If she had not run, we’d be talking about Senator Miller (R-AK) today.
Doug Hoffman - This is the guy who almost took the election away from Dede Scozzafava, and would have, if the she’d have done the right thing and dropped out when she was down to 5% support, and when she finally did, ended up ACTIVELY supporting the Democrat, with the connivance of the GOP-E in that district. Hard to see how he was a reject loser who never could possibly win.
Sharron Angle - could have won as well, if she’d have had more party support.
Ken Buck - could have won, if he’d have had more party support.
J.D. Hayworth - Not really his fault he got redistricted. Also not his fault that he had to try to unseat McCain who, despite being hated by everybody, also brings home the pork to the seniors in his state.
Christine O’Donnell - about the only one on your list who really didn’t have a shot of winning, and that was as much because she was a conservative dunning in *Delaware* as it was due to her being loopy.
In each case, however, the fault for their losses lies largely with the GOP establishment who refused to support them because they were conservatives.
How drunk do you have to get to believe Romney is a “Marxist”? Not that I believe you know what that is but still.
It’s simply impossible for a genuine Pro-Life candidate to win statewide office in Massachusetts, and always will be.
In your world, Romney/Ryan are Marxists? Please pass the Hukkah!
And in your world it then follows that Obama/Biden are not so Marxists as Romney/Ryan? WOW!
Guess what? If we’re stuck with Romney, and we just have to “lump it,” then you’re stuck with Akin, so you just have to “lump it” as well.
So shut up and start supporting the candidate. Not voting for Akin is a vote for McCaskill.
