Here is the sentence that sent this convention over the edge. The platform calls for a government that, quote, "gives everyone willing to work hard the chance to make the most of their God-given potential." That's what it was all about.

It wasn't even devotion to God. It wasn't even acknowledging God or asking God for blessing. It was simply an acknowledgement that potential is God-given! And that sent this convention into a tizzy, and there is no speech that can recover from the pictures and the sounds of that convention when they tried to get God back in.

Didn’t Reagen give a great speech in 1992 for George H Bush? That seem not to help.

He couldn't overcome the damage Pat Buchanan's speech did (and I agreed with a lot of what Buchanan said, but it was a disaster for the GOP in terms of the impact on the election).

Okay, so Obama’s best chance at winning reelection hinge on a guy who was president 12 years ago? Obama has absolutely nothing he can call an accomplishment. Most people are on to the the Detroit bailout and Obama care. This clown makes Carter look like George Washington. They're so screwed.

I think just the opposite, this speech may well have lost the election for them. Further, I think that may have been Bill Clintons intent. By upstaging Obama he only heightened the delegates regret that he (Clinton) is not able to run, and that Obama has been a deeply disappointing second-choice.

Backhanding Obama, while starting the process of returning the leadership of the Democrat party to the Clintons (which he sees as rightfully “theirs” anyway) - that was the intent of Clintons masterful performance last night.

I think that the only ones who watched that pile of sheite are already Obama voting slave drones. There is no way that my eyes could focus or function watching that crap. I would have brain hemorrhage.

The democrats think Obama’s chances for victory depend upon ‘Toon’s ability to lie with authority. ‘Cause that was always his skill set.

“Okay, so Obama’s best chance at winning reelection hinge on a guy who was president 12 years ago?”

The media has worked overtime to improve BJ Clinton’s image over the years, mostly by ignoring some cold hard facts:

1) He settled a sexual harassment lawsuit for $890K (for exposing himself to Paula Jones - who was NOT one of his girlfriends); Monica Lewinsky was subpeonaed as part of THAT lawsuit (so it wasn’t about a private matter as his defenders claimed).

1a) He was disbarred for five years for lying under oath - unusual at the least for a sitting president.

1b) He (and his slut) will always be remembered for his actions in the Oval Office, long after his “prosperity” myth is debunked; if the economy was half of what it was (and is) touted as, Al Gore would have demolished Bush.

2) He took office with control of both houses of Congress, and left 8 years later with Congress and the White House in the hands of Republicans. From a political standpoint, this is the most enduring legacy of his; he has barely spoken to Al Gore since.

Like everyone else I work with the homely divorcees who still gush over BJ Clinton, but the fact is that they are small in number (and were voting for Obama anyway).

Can you elaborate on that? I didn’t watch it (like I could stomach it...). And Rush certainly feels same as you. But I’d still like some details....just what was it about the speech that turned off real America?

I remember when Mario Cuomo's keynote speech at the 1984 'Rat convention was known as "The Speech".

I also remember how B.J. Clinton first gained national notoriety for his embarrassingly long-winded speech to nominate Dukakis in 1988. I don't think his speeches have improved much. They're still too long and all about him.

I can elaborate a bit...remember in 1980, The Swimmer bitterly opposed Jimmy Carter for the nomination.....Kennedy’s speech was the highlight of the convention, it was probably Kennedy’s best speech ever...But, he never mentioned Jimmy Carter by name....and most people came out realizing that the wrong guy was nominated. A lot of people think that speech went a long way towards dooming Carter, as the rift between the two was made quite clear during the convention.....Carter and Kennedy truly despised each other all the way to Ted’s passing.

On the same night the DNC featured a speaker (Fluke) emphasising how bad the RNC was for woman she was followed by a speaker (Slick Willy) that is a serial sexual offender.

Secular atheist governments have had such a great track record over the past hundred years as a model for creating peace, general prosperity and social harmony.

Just ask the Russians, Chinese, Koreans, Cubans, Cambodians, and every other country in the world where it has been tried.

But that serial sexual offender "kept abortion legal". For that, he gets a lot more than "one free grope".
