In defense of Clint Eastwood: He was weird, but fantastic
Yahoo ^

Go ahead. Vet my day. A fistful of incoherence. High slurs rambler. Every which way and loose.

Clint Eastwood, the 82-year-old movie star and director, inspired what seemed like enthusiasm inside the Republican National Convention's Tampa Bay Times Forum—and disbelief outside it and on Twitter.

I enjoyed it very much. Clint had problems with the teleprompter. I am willing to bet that many of you would fail... when you reach the age of 82... boarding a plane and flying coast to coast... and addressing America impromptu without having a few uh and ahhs come out. He stuttered less than that kenyan usurping connoisseur of man gravy named obama. Clint was magnificent. You have the right to your opinions... and I have the right to mine.

He was...

...honest
...understandable
...making good points
...dishing out some good one-liners
...delivering an effective case that we need to rid ourselves of Obama
...worth having in prime time for the American cause

“No...That was painful to watch...”

‘No, I thought he was great.’

At age 85, YOU will be pushing up daisies :P

BUT by that time will he have aquired at least a modicum of maturation and or appreciation...? and or do we care..bwahahahaaah?

What Clint did was brilliant stage craft, only someone from his guild could do that. It was loaded with Metaphors, The Invisible POTUS, the Shrinking POTUS, and his responses the Angry one we know he can be. But I also diminished him, i.e. he was "gone" as in a past tense. That is huge, so many of us have put Obama behind us, we are just waiting until November to make it Official.

And I bet it got so under Obama's skin we get another "you didn't build that"

Tangent to this it was a giant up-yours to PC and the Dominant Media particularly the talking heads MC'ing the event. I have heard some reactions, but I bet even today they are livid...

I think it was a little harder to grasp what was going on at first while watching it on tv. The audience got it right away. Think of his routine this way.... Empty chair, empty suit.

You know exactly why that is. romney may win and he may become president but his popularity is in the ditch... even amongst supporters. Clint is a beloved character actor that cared enough to show up and rip jug ears a new one.

Bender, you are delightfully twisted, and I never read your stuff, but I do now you make me laugh. Dude you need some audio visual equipment and your own Beck-ish web based TV Channel. Keep it up!

I turned the television on just after he began his conversation with the empty chair and thought "what the heck is this; seems pretty weird for a national political convention - funny but weird." Frankly, I was also a bit concerned that ole Dirty Harry might have lost a bullet or two from his chamber.

I have since seen it again and had a different reaction. Just from a comedic acting perspective, I think Clint was brilliant. It was like he was channeling his inner Jimmy Stewart. If it true that he was ad libbing or otherwise doing it without script, he was beyond brilliant. I will be very happy if I can do a routine like that when I am 82. Some of the commentators who were most upset about it (can you hear me Wolf Blitzer) need to find a sense of humor.

Besides what could be more appropriate to symbolize our empty suit of a President than an empty chair?

Loved it. He minimized and ridiculed obama and you know from lib reactions it was a home run.

I thought Clint’s performance last night was “high art”. And, if (as they say) ridicule is the greatest political weapon then his “interview” with Obama was an atom bomb.

My mom who lives with me, is 89.

You have to get used to older people who take their time in what they say and think about what it means.

Young people are in such a hurry, they don’t comprehend a generation that grew up with the idea that:

“A fool speaks because he thinks he has to, a wise man speakd when he has something to say”

With Clint, I don’t know how much in his delivery was calculated (in the way typical to older people) or how much of it was style.... and the fact is, Clint always had a sober, sparse and measured style.

I think it has always been his distinctive charm... (I really don’t like loud, giggly men who blather on like women).

They say women are attracted to men like their dad.... well, my dad was a strong, quiet and very masculine gentleman.

I guess that’s why I appreciate Clint! Just my humble opinion.

Man, he seemed old. However, he was a regular guy that conveyed the frustration that a lot of people have in a down to earth way. Unconventional but excellent, particularly to the non-political junkies. Moreover, since the libs on MSNBC and the liberal blogosphere are foaming at the mouth about it, it had to have been effective to them as well! Suprisingly excellent last day of the convention.

Eastwood is Warner Bros. He made some clear points echoing our thoughts of this is our country; not theirs.
