Seventeen people including two women have been beheaded in a Taliban-controlled area of southern Afghanistan for taking part in a music festival.
The slaughter took place yesterday in a village in the Musa Qala district of Helmand Province in southern Afghanistan - an area said to be completely under the control of insurgents.
According to a local tribal chief the people had gathered for a celebration and were playing music and dancing and the insurgents wanted to stop the event.

Murdered for having a little fun. More of the usual from the Taliban.
Somebody needs to give these villagers some weaponry and a bit of training.
At least sidearms, rifles, and bayonets.
Apparently they are defenseless.
Why is there a “Taliban controlled area” in afghanistan? That shouldn’t exist by now.
By the terrorists Obama released the other day?
Another “Talking Heads” concert. Time for “Burning Down the House”. Who sponsored Afghanistan’s Sharia Constitution ?
Well beheading everyone there will definitely do that.
It isn't. Al Qaida was, and they've been pretty much eliminated. Now we're sitting there having those we're supposed to be turning the security over to turn their guns on our troops. It's not worth it. This massacre is a tragedy but I really don't see where it's our job to solve the Taliban problem.
The debate over Journey's new singer being preferred over Steve Perry continues? Everyone's a critic, including these neanderthals...
I hear ya.
It would be difficult for “taliban” types to do that here in the States. There are enough armed “villagers” to make it almost impossible.
Enough US blood and money has been spent on Afghanistan. Bring our troops home, let the Afghanis deal with their own problems. They should have the full understanding that we will return with even more firepower if the likes of Al Queda take root in their country, again.
Bush set this whole en devour up for failure with his nation building schemes, and obama has only made it worse, with his weak wristed handling of it once he took command I use the term “took command” extremely loosely.
You can’t save a country that don’t want to be saved.
The Taliban sheltered and hosted Al-Qaeda, taunting the U.S. after the 9/11 attacks, a clear act of War. The Afghan people have proven incapable of appreciating or defending their freedom, they deserve the Taliban. The appropriate response is to put them on notice that the next bit of trouble out of their hell hole, they will be reading by oil lamps and drinking out of hand pumped wells for two generations and tilling their fields with mules. They will travel by ox cart on dirt roads and cross rivers by ferry, because every bridge, every railroad, every petrol facility in Afghanistan will be destroyed.
The locals know the men doing the beheading. Why aren’t they secretly eliminating the taliban one by one, night after night, house after house. The Taliban would be sh**less if they knew everytime they show their face, they are a target.
Afghanistan should be black glass.
How the hell does the Taliban still have control over any area of Afghanistan?
Surprised they didn’t report it as an “accident” like they did the most recent killing of two US service members by an Afghan...
Big Media doesn’t want to muddy up their god Hussein giving Taliban Gitmo prisoners back to the Taliban.
Amen, we are wasting too many valuable lives for these “people”...
The proper response is to get the hell out and let them fester in their own sewer.
But note that afghanis don't get cowed down. This will be the start of a blood-feud between that village/area and the Talibs...
who is the "them"? The Talibs or the locals?
they will be reading by oil lamps and drinking out of hand pumped wells for two generations and tilling their fields with mules. -- they already do that. Life post the 80's support we gave to the Muhajiheedeen (remember Rambo II?) has been that way
They will travel by ox cart on dirt roads and cross rivers by ferry, because every bridge, every railroad, every petrol facility in Afghanistan will be destroyed. -- already happened. The reason the Talibs have the money, guns and ability is because they were created by and are being supported by Pakistan -- at times given American weapons..
Because a purely airwar cannot keep a large, mountainous country under complete control — especially when the Talibs can just run to pakistan anytim they are threatened...
then the Saudis started to accumulate a lot of money (US dollars from us mainly) and they exported their brand of Wahabbi islam to the rest of the world.
They created the latest helllholes of Afgha, Pak, etc. etc.
if you look at the picture of Kabul university from the 70s
it doesn't resemble modern Afghanistan at all.
Until the Mujahideen (remember: WE sponsored them) won, women never wore burkhas -- even in the villages they wore scarfs etc. and even that was unheard of in Kabul and Damascus and Cairo
Then the Mujahideen won with our money and weapons and life in Afgh has been a hell
Face facts, the US has been played for a sucker by the Saudis -- we provide the weapons and the Saudis provide the "training" to jihadis to spread Wahabbi islam
And we're doing the same thing in Syria now...
I don’t see a problem here that couldn’t be solved with napalm, and maybe a few neutron warheads in some scattered areas.
The original problem started with this ‘nation building’ thing. After Al-Quada was vanquished, the next move should have been to set-up the ANNEXATION program, establishing Afghanistan as US territory (just like we should have down for at least Southern Iraq. Next, round up all non-pats and let them choose:
Exile to Pakistan or stay (but ALL of Afghanistan will become a U.S. weapons testing ground - thus making their decision much easier.
Oh, and any fragging of U.S. troops or civilians will result in the neutralization of a exiled village (without warning).
But that was back in the days where men were men, the women were proud of it, and no one asked too many questions about what our fighting forces were doing overseas. After ten years, we should have real-estate brokers there selling ski-resorts with beautiful mountain views; not troops getting killed as soon as they had a native a weapon.
This ain’t no party, this ain’t no disco... that’s for sure.
I still go with nuking the cities, smashing the infrastructure, and sowing anthrax to finish ‘em.
Al Qaeda has been eliminated? You need to tell that to the people of Yemen, Iraq, Syria, Libya and yes Afghanistan.
The Taliban is NOT related to Afghan culture. The Taliban is a product of the Pakistani Maddrassas. Thousands upon thousands of young children were left orphans throughout the years of war there. The males were taken to Pakistan and put in the Madrassas and taught this ideology. It is all about power and domination, there is nothing religious about it. For all who think that Afghanistan is just a bunch of rocks, there are trillions of dollars in rare minerals in those rocks.
The people of Afghanistan are beat down. The current generation know nothing of peace, they’ve never experienced it in their entire lives. It is as foreign to them as living a life of beheadings is to us.
I am not making excuses for them, but not every Afghani is on board the Taliban. Northern Afghanistan is not as oppressed as Southern, which is predominately Pashtun. My son had to work with the ANA while over there. He said one third was Taliban, one third wanted a check and one third wanted their country back. If we WANTED we could have won this war years ago. However, you can’t play both sides in war. And that is why we have been there so long. Think, we did not try to compromise with the Japanese or the Germans. It was AFTER they surrendered that we sat down with them.
Saudia was the only hold-oout. And then it got money to finance global jihad.
And the WILL TO FIGHT!?
So should we invade those places too?
I don't care what the Taliban is a product of. I care that all too many of our men and women are being killed, not infrequently by the people we are supposed to be training and helping, and for what? We're not going to change Afghanistan. We're not going to turn them into a functioning democracy, or even haul them into the 18th century. It isn't worth it. We're pouring billions of dollars and hundreds of lives down an endless rathole. Get out and let the place degenerate into anarchy - again. And if anyone wants to come in and grab that trillions you claim are there then more power too them. They have to conquor the place first, and nobody has been successful at that in recorded history.
Hollywood.....oh Hollywood.......paging Hollywood.....maybe you can go over there and make two movies called HEADLESS DIRTY DANCING.....Hollywood, what a bunch of idiots.....
And these are the people the libs and fags want to coalition with because of their common red-hot hatred of Christians.
hey, nancy pelosi; THIS is what a war on women looks like, you pathetic excuse for a human being.
Now I see why the Taliban weren’t invited to this year’s Burning Man.
Both countries also had a different mindset. Once their leaders said the war was over that was it, no more fighting.
Not sure which post you’re responding to.
I’ll be the first to say we’ve were played by suckers, though I lay the blame on our leaders rather than the Muslims (who were already the devil we know).
Excellent and accurate. A friend was with the ARG and State made messes and the military was left to clean up. You cannot work with the Taliban. You can only kill them.
Wonder what they’d have done to anyone listening to Pussy Riot
