Exclusive: Janet Porter joins pro-life leaders as they stand with Rep. Todd Akin
Want to know why the Republican Party is in such trouble? I believe it comes down to one word: courage.
When Democrats misspeak, we make them vice president. When Republicans misspeak, Republicans are the first in line to throw them under the bus.
When Rep. Todd Akin stood for protecting all innocent human life in a recent interview, he used a word with more than one meaning. He used the word legitimate before the word rape to mean real, forcible, a tragic event that really took place. Anyone who doesnt think false claims of rape can be made should check with Norma McCorvey, the Roe of Roe v. Wade. The infamous abortion case, based on her false rape claim, has resulted in the deaths of 55 million innocent human lives.
But because legitimate could also modify the word rape, some in the Republican Party are practically writing Willie Horton ads about it, pretending that the congressman is pro-rape and wants to let rapists out on furlough. This interpretation of the congressmans words doesnt resemble reality, and everyone knows it.
If Republicans love their country, they will quit using fiction to shoot their own and focus on the real enemies of life: Democrats Claire McCaskill and Barack Obama, who stand for legally sucking the brains out of half-born babies in a procedure called partial-birth abortion.
In America, we shouldnt kill people for the crimes of their father. And in politics, we shouldnt kill statesmen for a badly worded sound bite.
Thankfully, there are men and women of courage who stand with Rep. Akin, beginning with the founder of National and International Right to Life, Dr. Jack Willke, who said:
Congressman Todd Akin remains a strong and courageous

A time for choosing.
Stand with a man who said something stupid but means very well or stand with someone who supports abortion.
IBT ‘run in circles scream & shout’ crowd.
He lost the election with his stupid comment. If he really cared about anything but himself he would have withdrawn and made way for available candidate.
Make that a VIABLE candidate.
No - a REAL test of courage would be whether the Party is willing to dump Romney and replace him with a real conservative.

Akin poisoned his chances... he’s not going to win. If he has a modicum of love for America, he’ll override his own ego and step aside.
But he won’t. He’s enjoying the attention too much.
“Stand with a man who said something stupid but means very well or stand with someone who supports abortion.”
How about his replacement that isnt a moron?
I don't see why it has to be either or. There are plenty of other Missouri Republicans who are pro-life, replace Akin with one of them. That way we get someone who is both pro-life AND not stupid.
The endless measure of conservative stupidity just astounds me.
The only way Obama is going to be defeated in November is if Jesus comes down here and defeats him Himself, because the only pepople republicans can defeat is themselves.
If you want to replace Romney with a real conservative, champ, then replace him with Akin.
Oh wait...
Alas, I read his statement over and over and without the screaming from the press and (moderate) republicans I just can't see why there is such ado because of it.
The guy has a VERY impressive voting record as a conservative.
Legitimate rape means something different to the Demobrat Party (formerly the traditional, patriotic Democratic Party) -- and the convention will feature women Bill Clinton raped..
examples of legitimate rape..
apparently legitimate in the sense of "being in accordance with established or accepted patterns and standards" of the Demobrat Party (formerly the traditional, patriotic Democratic Party), the MSM, universities, Hollywood, NGOs, U.N., civil rights industry, much of the ruling class, the "nonpartisan" radio and TV, transnationals, and all the Right People.
Also to show religion compassion and understanding the convention will feature Islamist "temporary marriages" that are also in accordance with established or accepted patterns and standards of the aforementioned pukes.

Todd Akin has fallen behind Sen. Claire McCaskill by double digits in the Missouri Senate race, according to a Rasmussen automated phone poll released Thursday.
The survey taken Wednesday shows McCaskill leading Akin, 48 percent to 38 percent, among 500 likely Missouri voters. Nine percent preferred another candidate, and 5 percent were undecided.
And THAT, my FRiend, is the *real* test of courage. Will conservatives and Republicans ever get serious about running the MSM blockade and start bringing this message to the people - airing the Democrats' dirty laundry - even if it means the MSM attacks them as "mean-spirited" etc.?
Well, put!
The words “legitimate rape” are not the problem( as has been pointed out, that can easily be clarified as “forcible”), it’s the rest of the quote that is the problem:
If its a legitimate rape, the female body has ways to try to shut that whole thing down.”
That is a direct quote. It’s a dumb statement; in the same league as “the world is flat”; “the Sun revolves around the Earth”; “I believe in the Easter Bunny” dumb.
If the Republican party did that though, they could get my vote in November, instead of Virgil Goode.
Romney is costing the Republicans more than Akin is.
So, ah, you think Romney is the opnly guy who could defeat Obama?
Doesn’t seem to be doing such a hot job of it so far.
Now lets take a trip to Realville. Akin will lose. Rasmussen (the most accurate poll) has him down 10 pts. Screw courage, I want the GOP to take the Senate.
Nope.
They don't have the guts.
I mean, is there any identifiable group we should care less about, than women who support abortion?
They're more disordered than the homos.
No HE lost the election by making a stupid, ignorant comment. Of course the press and the Rats were going to take full advantage of it. He should have pulled the plug before the deadline the selfish turd. A coupe more winners like this and the election will be handed to the left.
No Akin was trying to minimize the implication of his pure Pro-Life position that women should be forced to carry children conceived from rape. He was saying women who are raped do not conceive because their body has a magical property to prevent conception. Therefore, women who claimed they were raped and want to abort a child are lying.
You mean the Easter Bunny is NOT real?? wow... day, ruined...
He had no business mentioning the “theory” that the bodies of women being forcibly raped put up natural barriers against getting pregnant. That was an eternally stupid thing to bring up. Later, he said he checked with professional sources and now admits that what he said is medically, scientifically untrue.
He then apologized for saying it.
When he was asked about abortion in cases of rape, all he needed to say was, I believe a baby is a living human being and it doesn’t make sense in my beliefs to abort the baby who is alive and who is innocent.
To absurdly start an argument over the “theory” that a woman who is forcibly raped is unlikely to get pregnant, and in the process of bringing that up, actually use the words “legitimate rape”, is so beyond the pale it’s beyond the belief he “went there”.
Even HE admits that now.
He just doesn’t want to suffer the consequences of leaving the race.
Most women can see something wrong with his remarks.
Or as Paul Ryan says, “rape is rape”.
Akin is too ignorant to be a senator.
He toast. His seat is gone. Still looking to see if we may have lost the White House in Missouri as well.
It seems to me, from what I understand from doctors, thats really rare, Mr. Akin said of pregnancies from rape. If its a legitimate rape, the female body has ways to try to shut that whole thing down. But lets assume that maybe that didnt work or something: I think there should be some punishment, but the punishment ought to be of the rapist, and not attacking the child.
Politically imprudent, absolutely. But lets not overstate it.
Exactly. Akin can cost us a Senate race (not even a seat, just a pickup), Romney is going to cost us the Presidency, and any coattail effects to boot.
Let's face it - if the GOP was fielding a decent conservative candidate, we'd be crushing Obama right now. I'm not even asking for some kind of hard-right Constitution Party-style candidate, just a reasonable mainstream movement conservative who understands the need to balance and stand on all three legs of fusion conservatism. Such a candidate wouldn't have the base troubles Romney has, and wouldn't have to try to run on the now-fervent-but-inevitably-will-play-itself-out "Anybody but Obama" energy. People naturally are much more interested in being in it for the long haul when they have someone that they can genuinely vote FOR, rather than just supporting to vote AGAINST the other guy. That's all Romney has. He is fracturing the GOP and the conservative movement in general, because people know he's a phony. A lot of people support him only tepidly because he's not Obama, but this doesn't translate into massive grassroots action of the sort traditionally needed to really make the ground game effective. Sure, Romney is a great organiser, but he's going to need more than just a cadre of loyal supporters to win the ground game nationwide. He needs the base. And a lot of them, while perhaps voting for him, aren't really inclined to put a lot of effort into his campaign.
End result - Obama is probably going to get re-elected, and the fault lies with Romney and his supporters.
IT HAS TO STOP.

Just because the 'Rats have no standards doesn't mean we have to accept stupidity.
bump
So he said something stupid and immediately backtracked
which politician hasn’t?
Are we really going to allow the MSM and leftists in both parties choose our candidates this way?
“Inaccurate” or “wrong”? Sure.
“highly offensive”? Not so sure I see it.
But there is a real Robin Hood, who want to take from the rich and give to the poor government.
We wonder why Boehner never stands to fight the great battles that must be won to save our republic.
Answer: Because too many pitiful surrender monkeys typified by comments at this forum run for cover from the little battles, like defending and supporting the conservative Akin.
NOT THIS TIME! Akin will be hammered in November. Lack of courage did not cause Akin’s poll numbers to plummet. It was his own words, which can’t be fixed or explained. Porter is wrong. Bob
If Akin loses the Senate seat and or if Romney loses Missouri and the general election, it will be the fault of Akin. We will no longer be able to blame the RINOs by saying "see we told you so". Thanks to Akin, blaming the GOP Establishment went out the window.
But now the table has turned. Akin is hurting the conservative movement.

That's it in a nutshell. (Or should I say Akin-shell?)
