Time for "Democrats for Romney"
New York Post ^ | August 17, 2012 | JERRY DELLA FEMINA

Almost all of my friends are Democrats; all of them voted for Barack Obama in 2008. Ask them these days, as I have, if they plan to vote for Obama this November, and they’ll give you an “Oh shucks” sad smile, look down, look back up with guilty eyes and say “I’m disappointed.” I’m talking about a good number of intelligent, caring, middle-class Democrats who are a soft nudge away from casting their vote for Romney. All they need to know is that they’re not alone.

In 1980, Carter treated Reagan as a ridiculous figure who, among other things, was ignorant of details of nuclear-weapons policy. Reagan cheerfully promised economic growth and asked Democrats, “Are you better off than you were four years ago?” In the end, Reagan proved that good-natured conservatism could win by huge margins. But a lot of credit for the win must go to “Democrats for Reagan.”

Here’s an example of a commercial that would win Democratic votes for Mitt Romney: A man, about 40, is sitting in his living room with his wife and kids seated next to him. He looks into the camera and says: “I’ve voted Democratic all my life. In 2008 I voted for Barack Obama. It was a vote I am proud of. I wanted to be part of the generation that voted a black man into the presidency of the United States. It was the right vote for the right reason. But, sadly, it was for the wrong man. “I don’t think this country can survive four more years of Barack Obama as president. I know my family can’t. I lost my job two years ago, and I fear I’m going to lose my house. “Mitt Romney has the business experience to bring back our economy. He has my vote.”

This is just a very diplomatic way of telling these race card Democrats that their party served up a real turkey in the purported name of atoning for America’s racial sins. Three years ago I was saying that 90% of the black people in the phone book would be able to do a better job in the White House than this very special Barack Obama who was raised up to be a puppet of a gaggle of socialist special interests.

So what do these democrats think about abortion, gay marriage, illegal immigration, global warming etc?

What does it profit a man if he treats a prodigal like the older brother?

Or perhaps - he who is without sin cast the first stone.

Sheesh - if someone starts to see the light - but doesn't see it all at a speed that is acceptable to YOU - we should take away the light. Am I reading you correctly?

You epitomize - "first, remove the log from you own eye..."

Glad to see that Jerry “ From Those Wonderful Folks Who Gave You Pearl Harbor” Della Famina is still kicking.

You two narcissistic guys, with your martyr complexes, have convinced yourselves that you are the only two in America standing for righteousness, justice, truth and the American way. Must be a lonely world you two live in.

I can guarantee you it's a lot more than two. You mentioned earlier that. I don’t know who the owner of this board is voting for or not voting for, I can tell you one thing, it won't be Romney.

Well now, that's at least 4 of us in that "lonely world" you mentioned. There must be a couple of others around here somewhere.

“We are losing our country to godless socialism and what does the GOP do? Run an abortionist/homosexualist statist whose socialist RomneyCare program was the blueprint and impetus for ObamaCare! Screw that!! I’ll vote for the GOP’s candidate for the presidency when they run a CONSERVATIVE!! Otherwise, to hell with them!! The GOP is fast cementing their place as part of the problem! Wake up America!!”

No I will not vote for an abortionist for president. Period. It’s no secret. I’ve been posting that I will not vote for Rudy/Romney abortionist for many years.

Welcome to Free Republic, America’s exclusive site for God, Family, Country, Life & Liberty conservatives!

Romney does not qualify on any count!

Jim Robinson.

Well, if New York liberals are backing away from Zippy, it means something very significant: He’s toast in the New South.

I have no idea how anyone could vote for Obama. There was too much known. Did these folks seriously think he was going to be a pro-American strong defense figure?

The guy was clearly an enemy of the state.

The best defense for an idiot that voted for him, is to now be quiet and hope folks never find out.

Thank God I will never have that on my conscience.

Most disgusting is the attempt to lie Romney into being Reagan.

Reagan didn't cower from social issues the way Romney does and those issues brought huge numbers of socially conservative democrats to the GOP. They wee people who had largely voted for Kennedy on his socially conservative stances. They voted for Carter in part due to the Nixon fiasco and because Carter portrayed himself as a southern conservative then proved himself to be a marxist.

When Reagan came along he was a new kind of politician who spoke to the American people as equals. (A russian friend attributes that to the fall of the Berlin wall and collapse of the soviet union.) He told his story about the democrat party leaving him behind and didn't try to pretend it was some great earth shaking epiphany.

Romney is more akin to Bill Clinton. A political opportunist and scavenger who feels entitled to be president and doesn't really care what the American people want. The "man" couldn't even win Michigan in the primary without the party changing the rules the night after the vote.

The most pathetic thing is that Romney went on the attack for Santorum's "dirty tricks" of appealing to democrats on conservative issues. Meanwhile Romney was appealing to Detroit democrats on the most liberal issues he could find. My democrat sister said that Romney people came to her house 4 different times to tell her that Mitt defends her reproductive rights and won't leave the elderly and poor to die in the streets like that extremist Catholic Rick Santorum.

Rush: Romney is winning like a liberal

Its going to be a real treat watching the cattle when Mitt takes his turn to the hard left after the convention.

Well, Gray and pistolpacker, THIS pistol-shootin' conservative started a tally a few months ago, thinking at first that those of us like Jim Robinson, Gray, cripplecreek, and me who perceive how destructive, counterproductive, and dangerous a Romney presidency would be would number about 60 FReepers, a sad little minority, but I wanted to know how little.

I was amazed and heartened: that list is now nine shy of 300 FReepers, exceeding my expecations nearly five-fold, and considering that I haven't updated it for several weeks, odds are that the REAL number is closer to 400. Still, a minority, but hardly the paltry few you imagine.
