Obviously this as been going on for a long time — BG Smith’s “wife” left the Army way back in 1986 and “said she left the Army because of the strains of maintaining a secret lesbian relationship.”
Congrats to her! Its good to see a person rise to their ultimate potential by being promoted amongst her peers.
Its NOT so great for her to rub America’s nose in her sexual orientation, which should be PRIVATE in all manners of speaking AND action! IMO.
Douglas MacArthur’s head exploded just reading the headline.
Okay, so this GENERAL lied through the early part of her career, as before Clinton’s “Don’t tell ...” policy, recruits were most certainly asked.
Doesn’t sound like the makings of a general to me.
If she’s “openly gay”, then there are videos available of her performances, right?
What, females in the military who are LESBIANS?
I’m shocked, SHOCKED!
“I tremble for my country when I reflect that God is just; that his justice cannot sleep forever.” ~ Thomas Jefferson
There is nothing to congratulate.
She is an exhibit of PC promotion over qualifications. She has no place in the military. She lied AND she compromised national security by allowing her lie to leave her exposed to being blackmailed.
She is just another sick sex fetishist that compromised the military same as those in abugrab had their little sex fetish cult.
The types of leaders Obama’s military needs to fight wars against the American people.
They should all stay in the closet & stop broadcasting what they do in their bedrooms.
Why do homosexuals use the terms “husband” and “wife”??? Aren’t we supposed to be liberal, and not “hetero-normative” about these issues??????
This type of weakness in the standing US Army will just serve to make the New Confederate Army’s job that much easier in CWII scenario.
There’s NO army in the world we can’t lick now!
Being called on the carpet will take on new meaning with that General.
If somebody would have told me that this was possible when I enlisted in the 80’s, I would have laughed in their face.
I hate what these people (those pushing the homosexual agenda) are doing to our military. These people will not be happy until they render our military one big, gay, combat-ineffective organization.
Our military is being ruined right before our very eyes.
I see what you did there, MP!
My question is will Mitt Romney do anything to stop the spread of Homosexualism in the military?
I’m pretty sure the answer is no. IF he won’t, then how is he an improvement on Obama? We still have to now “tolerate” open homosexuality in military....even with Romney.
Thanks, I needed that ;)

The good General is a liar.
She entered the military in 1976 (West Point)...before ‘Don’t Ask/Don’t Tell’....which means the Army ‘Asked’. She obviously said ‘no, I’m not gay’.
In this era, she would have also been asked about gay sexual encounters, in order to get her security clearance....and lied on that paperwork.
The article says she left the Army in 1986...’because of the strains of maintaining a secret lesbian relationship’...in other words, she was violating UCMJ on a daily basis.
I know we’re supposed to be tolerant and holding hands, now; but, should she really be rewarded for her lack of integrity?
50 years ago she would have been the “old maid” aunt who worked as a librarian and had “special” friends. Now these weirdos are generals.
The cockroaches crawling out of their holes into the light!
What exactly is this General in charge of, besides this new political “gay office” in the Pentagon?
Maybe it isn't a choice after all...
Prosecute those who covered up for her for 3 decades.
The uS has never been a “Christian country.” It was not like ancient Isreal which had an express convenant with the Creator. But we rose to a unique position in all of human history due in large part to implementation of the Christian ethics and values on which democracy and freedom depend. Those who understand that, also understand that the liberals have won, and this country now has a pagan worldview. As such, it is toast.
Or we call them “Lesbians by default” since no man would ever want anything to do with them.
No one lasts that long and gets promoted without others knowing. They contributed to a long-pervasive culture of corruption and cover-up. Leave her as a General and prosecute those who lied on her behalf for 3 decades.
Don't ask, don't tell was still in effect last march. Fire her.
these people are effing sick
Regardless of the view of conservative economics libertarians, this mess has been and is more reason for the decline of America than the blight and danger of progressive economics.
It is up to congress, they controll the code of military law.
Contol congress and you control the issue.
We need a supermajority to pass the federal marriage amendment. (prefereably one like NC)
Well, the as the country continues on its ever-more rapid pace of economic, social and cultural decay, so goes the military along with it. It had at least been one of the last holdouts. First time in my life, but I’m now finding it difficult to hold any respect/support whatsoever for the whole institution, or any member who remains in it.
It’s NOT so great for our service men to be following the lead of someone who’s lifestyle is in open rebellion of God’s rules.
First because our service men need devine protection and second because at least in her choice of sexual orientation she is a horrible role model.
“at the womens memorial at Arlington National Cemetery”
What a pervision of that hallow ground.
Orwellian double-speak from the High Priesthood of American Liberal Journalism. Repeat the lie enough to make people think its an accuracy.
I don't think women should be generals and I certainly don;t approve of homosexuals in the military.
Her security clearance should be revoked and she should be prosecuted for falsifying government documents and promptly dishonorably discharged from the military with some prison time.
Certainly at least one other woman in the case was.
Sabrina Harman ("On her first night at the prison, Specialist Sabrina Harman, a twenty-six-year-old M.P. from Virginia, wrote a letter home to the woman she called her wife")
Yet according to wiki, Janis Karpenski married a man.
Have to wonder how much the Abu scandal may have been generated by fifth columnists just like the wikileaker faggot who stole 25,000 documents because he hated the military's opposition to homosexuals openly serving in the ranks.
There was at least one turncoat in the British military who posed for photos urinating on a man and then circulating them to press as "evidence" of "torture" of "prisoners in Iraq".
"But why would they throw away their career to do such a thing?" Ask the Islamists in the ranks like Sgt. Akbar who lobbed a grenade in an officers' tent, killing/injuring a dozen officers. Ask Nadil Hasan who gunned down several dozen people at Ft. Hood.
She’ll be the first of many homosexuals fast tracked into leadership rules. Quotas and “past wrongs” you see...
Does she wear a sign?
A military establishment which makes achieving social objectives, instead of military victories, its purpose, loses wars.
That's what the social liberals are going for. Distrust of news reports (media), academia, science, the military, the church, the institution of marriage, banking... The collapse of society as we know it.
It is sad to watch our military decay.
