Gay rights come to Toy Town [gay rights groups ask publishers to quit Chick-Fil-A partnership]
The Telegraph ^ | 11 Aug 2012 | Jacqui Goddard

Publishers of children's series The Berenstain Bears are facing pressure to make a stand against homophobia in the latest episode of a controversy over the Chick-fil-A fast food chain, and its president's stance on gay marriage.

In the 50 years since they made their literary debut, The Berenstain Bears have taught generations of children valuable lessons about acceptance and the rejection of bigotry.

Now, publishers of the beloved children's series are facing pressure to make a stand against homophobia in the latest episode of a controversy over the Chick-fil-A fast food chain and its president's stance on gay marriage.

Gay rights groups want the bears to pull out of a marketing partnership with Chick-fil-A, which plans to hand out some of their titles as part of a forthcoming children's meal promotion.

Campaigners say that Chick-fil-A's conservative Christian president, Dan Cathy, has exhibited exactly the kind of social intolerance that Papa, Mama, Brother, Sister and Honey Bear educate young readers to avoid, with his public declaration that his 1,000-restauarant chain supported "the biblical definition of the family unit" and that same-sex marriage was "inviting God's judgment on our nation.'

These radicals need to be beaten back on their gay agenda to RUIN everything good and wholesome left in this country.

I went to Chick-Fil-A last night. I just can’t get enough of their food. I always order the chicken club with fries and drink. The lettuce and tomato on the club is ALWAYS fresh...not like some places that the lettuce is wilted and not very good looking. The people are ALWAYS polite.....I love when I ask for something and they say “my pleasure”. What a great place to go. With six of us, we spent another 50 bucks. And guess what, “It was MY pleasure”. To be honest, I am glad that the drama has happened because prior to it, I used to go about once every six months. Since the drama, my family has gone four times.....once before 1 August (end of July) and 3 times since.

All they want is tolerance - tolerance plus veto power over our sermons, our private conversations, our professional actions, our choices on whom to associate with, the toys and comics in our Kids Meals, and other review powers to be specified once they consolidate that initial level of control. How could anyone be hateful enough to oppose tolerance?

That’s great - and I too am glad that the drama continues. It’s good for CFA and good for politics.

I think its actually good that the gays will not drop this - It means more people will feel the need to stand up for Chick-Fil-A and for traditional marriage. It will have an effect on the Nov elections as well.

A Chick Fil A manager laughingly said “who can we get to boycott us next? Our sales have been up every single day since the boycott.”

Of course he didn’t really want to be boycotted but people are still making a statement with their fast food choices;
I know I have.

One thing I was surprised at was the number of blacks participating in support of Chick-Fil-A......I.m not sure Obama will get the numbers with blacks he got the last time.

I noticed most of the British papers were relentlessly PC in their approach to the Chick fil A story. The Mail had about thirty photos, all of which depicted small smatterings of gays close up and very fuzzy pictures of the huge lines behind them. One of their stories didn’t show the crowds until about picture 20.

This might seem a credible story in England, where they didn’t have trouble driving home from work because of the huge lines and police presence directing traffic around ChickfilA. (I noticed that a point of rage on the DU boards - the traffic jams for CFA drove them crazy)

Here, we laugh. Unless the Bears have a radical gay marketing manager, that Wed taught them a big lesson. In fact, I’ll go out on a limb and say the marketing staff of many, many companies did a heads up with that. JC Penneys, whose stock dropped enormously after their two daddies on Fathers Day probably had a fit.

The reporterette for the local FOX news was standing outside somewhere (couldn't tell where since it was a very close up shot of her head) doing the story but claimed she couldn't show the protesters because it was too far for the camera. Say what? Since when can a tv news camera not zoom in from three blocks away? IOW, there was no protest. The only crowds we heard of were those supporting CFA.

Those ignorant of history doomed to repeat it etc.

If you pointed out to the militant gays that they are no different from Nazis or Islamic Fanatics in their tactics they would react with rage and/or disbelief.

As with DADT and subsequent ‘gay pride parades’ in the military (remember when it was patriotic pride?), the original play-for-sympathy has been abandoned in favor of another relentless march by the Thought Police.

sorry for the double post -
this picture for this story certainly looks like the protesters have been hired, to “look” like regular folks....

The Thorne family had lunch at Chick-fil-A yesterday at the Paramus Park Mall. It was delish and Chick-fil-A was clearly the most popular place in the food court.

Hooray for Chick-fil-A!
