I think Ryan is the better choice. Some Freepers think Rubio would lure some Hispanic voters away from the Dem camp, but I think that would work about as well as an Alan West candidacy luring Dem black voters, namely not very well at all.

A Rubio candidacy would mainly attract Hispanic voters by an implicit promise of amnesty, or other favorable treatment of Hispanics, and would turn off the conservative base more than it would help with Hispanics.

Yes...Good points

Rubio also is Cuban...and that does not sell at all in the Mexican-Amer and Puerto Rican communities...not at all.

Rubio supporters like him because they support Illegal Alien Amnesty, plain and simple

Ryan was a good pick

“In the end nobody votes for vice president,” said Gov. Chris Christie. “No matter who Governor Romney picks they’re not voting for him.”

By the same token, no one will vote for Obama because of Vice President Joe Biden, he said.

“No one’s saying ‘I’m not sure about this Obama guy but, boy, I love Biden,’” Christie cracked.

While Christie may secretly be disappointed he wasn’t picked...he may be spot on with this quip.

I believe it is pretty obvious that Obama is different from the democrat presidents of the past. Clinton was/is a sleaze bag, Carter was/is an idiot, Johnson was lying progressive, Kennedy was a whore mongerer, Truman a progressive, Roosevelt a progressive liar, and Wilson was a racist among other things. None of these presidents, however, had an active agenda to destroy the United States like Obama has. They were all misguided, hell they were/are democrats, but none of them were intentionally out to destroy this nation. Obama is an entirely new breed of cat, and he ain’t no pussy cat. His punk-ass needs to be out of office asap. If you would rather crap on the campfire then go ahead, but you are not helping the situation.

You’re the guy running the loser. Don’t be so highminded and selfrighteous about that.

Yup, I am good to go with Ryan. I was deathly afraid he would select Pawlenty, or worse, Portman. The team is now in place. Let’s get behind them. Bozo must go!

I don't like Romney. Herman Cain and Michele Bachman were my choices followed by Rick Santorum. But the reality is that Romney is the only one left in this presidential race that has a chance to beat the punk Obama. If a third party had a chance I would gladly support it. Paul Ryan at least makes it easier for me to stomach Mitt Romney. Obama’s anti-American, activist agenda needs to be stopped. Romney is not a good choice, but Obama is bloody damn evil.

If you get a tax deferred savings account you are being subsidized by the government

Being allowed to keep more of my income is a government subsidy? No wonder you love Obama so much; you sound just like him.

The Cuban-American community is primarily composed of the middle class which fled Cuba rather than live under socialism. Yes, you are correct that they are not a natural Dem constituency.

You still can't get my vote. You picked a loser ~ so he loses.

No, I didn't pick a loser. Nor did most people here. I was for Perry and then Newt. Almost no one on FR wanted Romney. Yet he won. We didn't get our way. Now you can refuse to vote for the nominee or suck it up and vote for him as the only candidate that has any chance of beating Obama. Some dislike Willard so much that they just won't vote for him. I get that. Many felt the same about McCain, even with Palin on the ticket. There is some of that every election cycle. Some people will always sit out or waste their votes on 3rd party candidates.

But saying things like you won't vote for Romney even if Jesus Christ is on the ticket makes you sound like nothing but a butthurt crybaby who didn't get his way rather than a rational, logical person.

No, you are in the wrong on this one....one can state they are 'converted' but the proof is in the pudding so to speak. Just look at the dems, nearly every one claims to be a Christian, but vote like they belong to satan. The dem Bible thumpers that come to my door get short shrift, because I confront them about their supporting criminals for election and genocide of the unborn. They take off like scalded cats.

Words are just words, it is DEEDS that count. Politicians lie all the time, they say what they think people want to hear. Messages are tailored to each audience. Liberal went to progressive i.e. for an example. Right has become wrong, and wrong has become right.

So quit attacking MY Christian beliefs because you are a rombeybot.

Your comment is pointless. My budget would move more quickly toward a Constitutional budget than even Rand Paul’s. That budget wouldn’t be passed; Paul’s won’t be passed; and Ryan’s will not be passed and implemented over 20 years even if it were to pass.

Give it a rest.

Save up your hostility for after November 7th, when you can start rooting for another alternative.

Right now you got Obama, and Romney with his brand new conservative, young, bright VP.

Pick one.

Paul Ryan is an okay choice. I like him much better than a Portman or Pawlenty pick, and would've prefered him at the top of the ticket.

Can he light a fire in people who can't stand Romney?
Enough to make them blind to the things about Romney that will make them ignore the top of the ticket or stay home?
I'm not sure about that.
