DALLAS - Dallas County's top official has declared a public health emergency, saying the spread of the West Nile virus has become epidemic. Dallas County Judge Clay Jenkins announced the declaration in a statement issued Thursday night. Jenkins says county officials are doing all they can to fight the spread of the virus but need the public to do their part. Dallas County health officials have reported 162 West Nile virus cases and nine West Nile deaths so far this year. Mosquitoes pick up the virus from birds they bite and then spread it to people.

It is true: I was never influenced by peer pressure. Am immune to it. God-given ability to think on my own. Zero tendency to follow current fads and foolish proclivities.
What a strange post about yourself, it doesn’t fit anywhere on this thread.
Well, thanks for sharing anyway I suppose, I hope we don’t learn a lot more about your personal inner life and challenges.
I look at her damn book as the beginning of the environmental wacko movement.
The MSM beat the drum like crazy on it at the time.
Their first and most deadly success worldwide.
You’ve pretty much admitted to us by implication you’ve been through a lot of embarrassing experiences that would best be left unsaid.
Just reread your post #35 about jumping out of second floor windows of structures under constuction and riding dirt bikes on the street (still do).
Interesting that you see yourself and your parents in a different light than the rest of us.
Just sayin’.
Rachael Carson done took it away. She also killed 30 million Africans in the process of doing so. She should be on the same list as Hitler, Stalin, Pol Pot, and Mao.
LOL, no, I haven’t, but again you show yourself scarred by your childhood for thinking so.
Look, we know more about you than we want to, you seem angry at everyone for having played with the fog trucks in their youth while you didn’t even know they were doing it, that stung you, and you have been lashing out since, we also learned that you wouldn’t have played with the trucks even if you had known, we also learned that if you had been the kind of boy to try such a thing, that your mother would have forbade you.
How about just enjoying that you learned something about the 50s and 60s, and skipping all the baggage and condemnation, and anger.
I suppose I can see your point but there is a line between doing something exciting and doing something truly dangerous or stupid. No broken bones in the family yet although I am growing concerned for my mom who is 96 and has taken a few falls lately. I am convinced her guardian angel has swooped in and prevented an injury at the last moment.
I believe that number of dead Africans is closer to 100 million.
A person I used to work with in the pest control industry told me that DDT was still being manufactured in Venezuela. If true, how ironic is it that the best, most effective pesticide for mosquitoes ever invented is free to be used in Hugo Chavez’s socialist state, but not in the United States!
I am starting to get the idea you are a failed psychoanalyst.
Many (mosquitoes) are resistant or would quickly become resistant again.
Used to do that here in New Jersey too. The America I grew up in as a kid has vanished.
I think you introduced a creepy, element to this thread, and brought in a troubled weirdness that people noticed as you assaulted them, their normal childhoods and their mostly dead, normal parents.
Your point was to convince us that you are different from us, that you had a different childhood from us, and that your parents were different from ours, most of us are willing to tell you that we are well convinced.
I am sorry to hear about your Mom. I dealt with elderly parents and know how nerve racking it can be. All you can do is pray.
The line between exciting and truly dangerous or stupid is subjective. I think we all did all three as kids and had our parents known, they probably would have turned gray. We had a lot of freedom to do some really crazy stuff.
And it seems we are all still here. We all had some powerful guardian angels. And still do.
You are the personification of projected anger. Lighten up.
LOL, it took a long time, but I think you have decided to let it go and get with a less personal theme on this thread.
I’m in Houston. I have 4 of the “mild” symptoms you listed. My wife is convinced I have it. But from what I’ve read and seen on TV all you can do is wait it out. If anyone has any info that’s there more than you can do, I’d appreciate a post. It’s a bitch being sleepy all the time.
I’m no expert regarding WNV. Wish ya the best of luck.
Apparently I was just exhausted. I feel fine today.
