Romney holds biggest fund-raiser in Iowa history
CNN ^ | August 7 2012 | Dana Davidsen

Posted on 08/08/2012 8:12:14 AM PDT by iowamark

Mitt Romney made Iowa state fund-raising history Tuesday evening by bringing in between $1.8 and $2 million at an event in West Des Moines, a Romney aide confirmed.

"Because of your participation and your presence here tonight, this event, in this room at this time is the largest and most successful presidential fundraiser we have ever had in the history of the state of Iowa," David Oman, Romney's Iowa state chair, told a crowd of supporters.

Romney, whose campaign organization has out-raised President Barack Obama's for the past three months, spoke to roughly 280 top dollar donors at a country club in West Des Moines. Tickets for the event ranged from $2,000 to $50,000...

Romney also talked about his recently unveiled five-step economic recovery plan at the fund-raiser.

In attendance were some of Iowa's top politicos, including Rep. Steve King; Matt Strawn, former Iowa Republican Party chairman; Kyle Krause, owner of Kum & Go convenience store chain; as well as a large contingent of Iowa senators and representatives. Gov. Terry Branstad and Sen. Chuck Grassley, who were both honorary co-chairs of the event, were not in attendance due to schedule conflicts.

Obama will also travel to Iowa next week for a three-day tour, visiting seven cities between Monday and Wednesday.

Iowa launched Obama's presidential bid in 2008 after he won the state's first-in-the-nation caucus. Iowa later handed him a 10-point victory over Republican opponent Sen. John McCain in the general election.

The state is seen as a toss up between incumbent Obama and Romney, each polling at 44% in a NBC News/Marist poll conducted in May.

Not if you’re replacing him with another democrat who will do nothing but consolidate his socialist gains.

Manc, I wasn’t referencing a new gaff by the Pres__nt Resident, but a general reference to all his prior gaffs.

If we weren’t paying attention, we’d never know of them. See them on the tube in real time, or we don’t see them at all.

LOL got it.

If one only watched and rad the media then one would think we'd have the smartest guy ever to have gone into the white house, it's pathetic.

Every time I hear some liberal or Dem dope say he’s smart I always ask how do you know, what grades did he get, have you rad his papers, what business has he ran, what achievements has he done?

Every time that liberal dope never can reply because they don't know why they think he’;s smart besides hearing it or being told that in their liberal circles.

America for sale......sick.

I know Romeny has to do this or else be trounced by 0bama. But the fundraising for Presidential campaign anymore is obscene. These two will blow close to 2 billion combined...al this while Americans are hurting.

"Not if you’re replacing him with another democrat who will do nothing but consolidate his socialist gains."

Amen to that.

I lived in MA during Romney's reign and he will do NOTHING to roll back, reduce or eliminate gov't.

He' just like the Kenyan in "white-face".

The Kenyan must go.

I'm from Massachusetts and I was not too impressed with Governor Romney. Still, I'd take him in a heartbeat over our other governors during my lifetime (especially the current one who is as bad as Obama).

It's the old argument about whether you would rather have a bad case of gout or terminal cancer. Both suck but one is fatal and the other is not.

One thing I'll give Romney and it is that he had to govern in a state where 85-90% of the legislature was Democrat. Not just Democrat but flat-out moonbat Democrat. I mean, we'll talking about a state that habitually elected the likes of Barney Frank and any derelict that had the surname Kennedy or initials of JFK (as in John F'ing Kerry).

So yeah, I'm not happy about the choices but I'm going to vote for Romney and I'm not going to trash him between now and November. Once he's in, I'll be his biggest critic if he doesn't fly right.

Who knows, maybe Romney will pleasantly surprise us if he is elected with a conservative Congress in the majority. The expectations are certainly low enough.

So.....I am just asking and requesting that folks, after Labor Day, make a $3.00-$5.00 contribution to the Romney campaign. Just think a moment. If all the GOP voters that voted in the Texas (800,000 votes) and Missouri (600,000 votes) primaries gave Romney $3.00 each, the Romney campaign would have $4,200,000 in contributions.

Repeat on 9/11 day and Chick-A-Filla day

my wife and I lived during those times too, she is from there and I had to live up there .

We escaped from there as soon as homo marriage was under way.

We moved south to north east FL,. Now we live in a county with over 80,000 Republicans, only 32,000 Dems and only 37,000 non party , LOL
we did our homework and moved here to st Johns county and it was the best move we ever did.

To think we had Sarah, Col Allen West, Demint, Newt, Rick, but no the establishment saw that we had to get Romney, their north east RINO and just wait till he gets that boring old no emotion stuffy white elitist guy

Had one woman at the kids socer game telling all the parents in a loud voice how dumb Perry was etc and that was it for me.

I went over, stood there, and then said can you beleive he said 57 states, and Austrian is a language.
They all looked at me and I said “oh sorry I mean obama, you did know that right?”

They stood there stunned and the libral woman frowned.

“I know you said he was smart so if you could then give me the grades he got in school”

No answer so I said”thought not because he is not smart , only th emedia thinks he is”

To this day the liberal woman will not say a word when I’m about LOL.

I would offer her twenty like you said but she is loaded, you know that kind I;m sure.
Loaded, hubby got lots of money, she wears the pants but she’s thick and is liberal.

Between Obama and Romney it's more like a choice between a bullet to the brain or a bullet to the heart.

Good for you. I think that’s a hoot.

For all his smarts, what did he accomplish in life other than to prove he’s a flim-flam man?

What businesses has he actually run, where you need to turn a profit to keep the doors open? Zip.

He got elected to the Illinois Senate and voted present nearly all the time.

He got elected to the U. S. Senate and did nearly the same thing.

Dumb seems to be the fall back position doesn’t it.

Ford, Reagan, Dole, Bush, and now Romney are supposed to be dumb. How did Romney turn $63 million into billions? And what has Obama done to equal that.

You did the right thing, and I think it’s cool show won’t talk in front of you anymore.

My wife knows some people that think Obama is amazing. What amazes me is that they continue to think so.

Thanks for the report.

Highest IQ ever

HIGHEST IQ EVER:

On Imus in the Morning, the Presidential Historian Michael Beschloss said, “Barack Obama has the highest IQ of any President.”

SOURCE: http://www.theamericanright.com/forums/showthread.php?9985-Highest-IQ-ever

If Obama had gotten acceptance by MENSA - You know he would have bragged about it - except for one little thing -

Barack Hussein Obama (Junior) would have to provide irrefutable documention and numbers to prove it - and MENSA turned down both Bill and Hillary Clinton when they attempted to intimidate MENSA into giving them membership.

(MENSA used to operate out of Brooklyn NY - They are now located in Texas)

-

If the Romney haters on this and on other FR threads were/are so brilliant and competent - Why have they not run for office and given the gift of their wonderfulness to America?

Remember - Free Republic once ran a confidential/anonymous sidebar poll asking who their choice for US President is/was

Over 15% picked Hillary Rodham Clinton

Some of that “Hillary 15%” are on FR threads like this every day -

Some are reading this comment right now.....
