By who? Why?

Sea levels are higher today than they were 15,000 years ago. You can bet the folks who lost their homes as the glaciers melted weren't laughing.

They will assume that you are a creationist. INHO, however, the term is still useful. Because much more human history is unknown than known. A few years ago, a massive temple was unearthed in southern Turkey. It has been dated at about ten thousand years, and is Stonehenge on a massive scale. As there are only tens of thousands of archeologists, no way will be ever know what the “real” past was like.
