Wednesday marked Chick-fil-A Appreciation Day. Across the United States, conservatives gathered in chicken restaurants to show support for the company after its president, Dan Cathy, came out against gay marriage. Democratic mayors in Chicago and Boston at first threatened to halt expansion of the Chick-fil-A chain to their cities, which turned a question of sexual morality into a debate about freedom of speech. The motto of conservative Christians seems to be, "They'll take my chicken from my cold dead hand..."
Writing as a European, this story combines two of the things we most readily associate with America: Jesus Christ and fast food. It certainly reflects a uniquely American phenomenon. There are religious businesspeople and raging conservatives in other parts of the world, but only the United States enjoys all the elements that could turn a statement of conscience into nationwide movement.
Where else in the world would a) the president of a chicken restaurant chain feel it was within his remit to publicly endorse "the traditional family," b) liberal mayors totally overreact by trying to stop his business' expansion, c) a former presidential candidate declare an "appreciation day" for the restaurant, and d) hundreds of people actually show up to eat there in solidarity?
The whole scenario seems so preposterous as to be contrived, which makes me wonder if it was a brilliant sales gimmick. Yet, we have no reason to doubt the strength of Cathy's faith and, after all, Chick-fil-A isn't the only company with a taste for Christian witness. At 1 pm there were at least 15 cars still in drive-thrus, winding into the adjacent parking lot. Inside, the place was packed. A manager opened the door for me, greeted with a smile. Warmth and class.
The much bigger McDonalds adjacent to the other side, had 2-3 in drive-thru. When I circled the block to take pics the CFA was still packin em in. McD’s had one car in drive-thru.

Well look: if there are about 1600 Chick-fil-A franchises in the US, all they would have to average is 650 customers for the entire sales day to hit a collective one-million customer visits for the day.
The Chick-fil-A I visited on Wednesday had hundreds of customers just within the 40 minutes I was there.
It is safe to say several million people voted at Chick-fil-A on Wednesday.
The fact that he actually said this in response to a journalist interviewing him for a regional Baptist newspaper , which is probably only read by Baptists who agree with him anyway, is never mentioned.
They make it sound like he put up a billboard along the freeway.
Another question, of course, is exactly who found that (very innocuous) statement in a small church paper and called in the MSM.

But if we don’t roll back the huge gains Obama has given the homoextremists, it will be for nothing.
I mean, we have to have a plan here. First, an administration that will defend DOMA in court - remember DOMA = Federal Government neutral on the issue, leaving states to decide.
Second, rolling back the “I’m a Queer in Uniform” policy. The policy needs to be “WE DON’T CARE TO KNOW WHAT ANY OF YOU ARE, SHUT THE HELL UP ABOUT YOUR SEXUAL PREFERENCE.”
Third, need to frame the argument to the reasons people ought to be opposed to it - unnatural, physically unhealthy and high-risk, mentally unhealthy, demoralizing, biblically sinful behavior.
Fourth, if necessary, if the states continue with legal entaglements, a federal constitutional amendment in support of traditional marriage (one man, one woman).
Fifth, a committment to have the administration’s top legal teams ready to defend the constitutional amendment at the lower courts, and Supreme Court.
Fixed it.
I tell you, that would work out much better for him than hurt him. There needs to be someone in the RNC who can see these rare golden opportunities and take advantage of them.
Not only should he go there and buy some, he should grab an apron and get behind the counter for awhile and do a few orders.

If we get a 2010 turnout it’s Romney by 3 to 5 percent. Gallup has Obama’s approval rating in Ohio at 44%. That is a sure loser. Romney will win Ohio, Florida and the election.

The Chick Fil A I was at yesterday had at least 200 people inside, everybit of that waiting just to get in, and cars in the drive through, were wrapped around the building, up the side street, onto the major road and about a half mile back. Police were having to direct traffic just to get in to the CFA

Yes! We are motivated even more than in the year 2000 and 2010. These polls cannot be correct putting obama 10 points ahead of Romney. I do not know a single person who will vote obama. Obamas’ chickens came home to roost on Wednesday and will again on election day.

I am having lunch at CFA and using their free wifi right now. The place is packed and no sign of any Brown Sticks playing tonsil hockey.

Meanwhile, the citizens of the US have been handling Chick Fil A on domestic soil very capably by themselves.

What's up, this has been in the news for a coupla weeks now. The GOP candidate has had more than enough time to show his support for CFA.
It has somehow escaped his attention.
What makes you think he even wants the CFA vote? We've heard his recent pro homo adoption statements but where is his pro CFA statement?

I whole heartedly support Sam Cathey and Chick-fil-A, because I argree with the morality he is expressing.
However, that same “morality” will keep me from supporting Mitt Romney because he has a background of being pro-abortion, pro-homosexuality...etc. I’m voting third party and hoping that many conservative Christians will do the same.
I want the GOPe and RINOs like Romney to know they will NEVER get my vote....give me a REAL conservative to vote for, or forget about getting my support. I don’t care that the “primaries” are over...I don’t stop fighting a phoney because he “wins”(stole actually) the primary...with the aid of the GOPe. You cannot effectively fight one evil (Obama), with another evil (Romney). The “pragmatic” view that “Romney is the lesser of two evils” will just keep promoting “evil.” Evil has many times had an (R) behind its name.

We went to Chick-fil-A on Wednesday to kill two birds with one stone. Three, actually, in many cases:Guess what! I’ll be back, Lord willing. Maybe Chick-fil-A will just expand in place, without so much as a “by your leave” to Democrat mayors thinking to arbitrarily and capriciously withhold permits . . .
- To contribute money to the Chick-fil-A business in order to assure the business was not harmed by lawless public “officials."
- Bonus: to get free (since I wanted to give them the money anyway) food, and fellowship with likeminded people, and
- To learn from that food what I might want to order in the future. I liked the grilled chicken wrap. And I was treated with noticeable courtesy, in that my order was initially treated as “eat in,” whereas I had no other thought than takeout since I was buying for my wife and she hadn’t been able to come. And after that, I needed an extra hand to carry drinks and two big bags of food. So an “associate,” or whatever they call her, promptly noted my dilemma and volunteered to help me carry the food to the car. And did so quite graciously as I had to search the unfamiliar lot for my vehicle. Busy as every associate was.
