Chris Matthews: Tea Party Reminds Me Of Confederates In Civil War
RCP Video ^ | 8-2-2012

MSNBC's Chris Matthews implies the Tea Party is racist.

Chris Matthews: I think a lot of it is ethnic to it and I'm not trashing people as racist or anything, but I think a lot of it is ethnic. Meaning, they don't like the changing demographic of the United States. So every time --

Max Pappas, FreedomWorks: Yeah, especially Hispanics like Ted Cruz.

Matthews: No, no. He's a Cuban-American and that's always been a little different situation.

Pappas: Or Marco Rubio? Allen West?

Matthews: Every time a speech is written by a Tea Partier, they're not sufficiently happy with saying, 'we're going to cut spending.' They've got to say we're going to do something with the border. By the way, the border doesn't cross Cuba by the way, it's always Mexico.

Pappas: That's not a Tea Party position.

Matthews: Well why watch Cruz that statement?

Pappas: He's in Texas, they have a big border.

Matthews: All the time, you hear border, border, border.

Pappas: What brings the whole Tea Party together across the country is at the center of American politics. It's not extreme. It's let's only spend what we bring in. It's fiscal policy.

Matthews: You're saying Tea Partiers don't have an attitude about immigration?

Pappas: No.

Matthews: They don't?

Pappas: No. There is not a consistent Tea Party position on immigration.

Matthews: What do you mean there's not a consistent position? How come when you meet them, they talk about the 'cause'? It sounds like the Confederate Army still fighting the Civil War when you talk to them.

I don't think Chris Matthews has any idea what a real Tea party movement is and has been. But it is Far right, anything he doesn't agree is far right.

Meaning, they don't like the changing demographic of the United States

You mean the concerted effort since 1965 to replace the population, culture and ethnic makeup of the US?

Matthews is trying to create an image that doesn’t exist.

Btw: The Tea Party always reminds me of the Americans in the Revolutionary War. Fighting tyranny like Matthews supports.

Why isn’t Chris Matthews blogging in his undershorts in his grandmother’s basement? Who thinks you can make money broadcasting the random misfiring of neuron synapses in this individual’s cranium?

When has he ever had an insight?

When has he ever said anything clever?

When has he ever not sounded like a snotty half witted sophomore?

I suppose his fellow traveling sophomoric boomers think the dude is, like, righteous.

Suits me. The more he’s blind-sided on Election Night, the sweeter the victory will be.

I’m glad he brought this up. Had wondered if there was a north verses south aspect to the Chick fill A standoff with mayors in the north condemning a successful business from the south. Was that part of the problem?

That’s funny, the American Democratic Party reminds me of the Russian Bolshevik’s in 1917.

I can’t listen to that f*.

I try to, when videos are posted here in FR, but I just can’t do it.

It’s not exaggeration, or hyperbole, when he speaks I really do feel a sickness rising in my stomach and I have to turn it off.

He is one of the most hideous individuals who has ever lived. A complete and total waste of oxygen.

Same here. I also can’t listen to Ed Shultz. I can listen to Rachel Maddow. She’s very smart and not hysterical. Don’t agree with her often but do respect her opinion.

I also can’t listen to Obama. I honestly can feel my blood pressure rise any time he speaks. I yell “liar” and change the channel. LOL

I believe the Tea Party movement (and I include myself as a de facto member) does have a position on immigration, even if it is not “official”.

The position is that immigrants who come here legally and comply with the law as they work toward citizenship are welcomed with open arms.

Liberals have done a very proficient job of blurring the line between legal and illegal immigration and tarring anyone who is against the latter as a racist or xenophobe.
