Obama Campaign Sues to Restrict Military Voting
Breitbart ^ | 8/2/12 | Mike Flynn

Posted on 08/02/2012 7:04:07 PM PDT by Nachum

President Barack Obama, along with many Democrats, likes to say that, while they may disagree with the GOP on many issues related to national security, they absolutely share their admiration and dedication to members of our armed forces. Obama, in particular, enjoys being seen visiting troops and having photos taken with members of our military. So, why is his campaign and the Democrat party suing to restrict their ability to vote in the upcoming election?

On July 17th, the Obama for America Campaign, the Democratic National Committee and the Ohio Democratic Party filed suit in OH to strike down part of that state's law governing voting by members of the military. Their suit said that part of the law is "arbitrary" with "no discernible rational basis."

Currently, Ohio allows the public to vote early in-person up until the Friday before the election. Members of the military are given three extra days to do so. While the Democrats may see this as "arbitrary" and having "no discernible rational basis," I think it is entirely reasonable given the demands on servicemen and women's time and their obligations to their sworn duty.

The National Defense Committee reports:

[f]or each of the last three years, the Department of Defense’s Federal Voting Assistance Program has reported to the President and the Congress that the number one reason for military voter disenfranchisement is inadequate time to successfully vote.

I think its unconscionable that we as a nation wouldn't make it as easy as possible for members of the military to vote. They arguably have more right to vote than the rest of us, since it is their service and sacrifice that ensures we have the right to vote in the first place.

Given the Democrats’ desperation for more votes, their move against military voting is not surprising.

Okay. Let me see if I've got this straight. The Krazy Kenyan and his toadie Eric the Holder are suing the hell out of the states to make sure illegal alien invaders are allowed to vote but don't want members of our military voting.

Anyone who votes for these pigs is not an American.

I wonder if the Obama gang would oppose giving the black community an extra three days.

I hope Repubs fight tooth and nail and prevent this. It’s getting so I feel as though I’m going insane from reading the news.

If dems knock out chunks of the military vote - then vote the dead in Chicago - and the illegals in Texas - is it REALLY America voting for Obama?

Forty-four percent of the military voted for Obama last time around, a mere ten points less than those who voted for McCain.

Thanks for the ping, JJ! I was separated from active duty status (Honorable, Of Course) 30Aug1971. Now, forty-one years later, I hear Duty call once again. Duty calls once again, and once again, I answer: Mitchell, TJ, HM/2, USN - B21-33-20 - reporting for duty as ordered!

This is my Country, and I mean to have it back!

Restrict Military Voting? Not in this lifetime, Obama!

God Bless the United States of America!

I suspect...if you go back over fifty years....you’d find that barely half of all military votes ended up being counted throughout the US. In some counties, it might be a 100-percent count, but the majority are probably not going to show any positive statistics over the whole time period.

The military has gone to various extremes...ensuring military cargo planes were prepared to bring mail directly back to the US and given to a major distribution center. They’ve appointed base officers to distribute registration forms, stamp them official and act as an agent of the US government. They’ve even looked at this idea of a computer software situation where you could vote online and it’d be delivered to each state via an acceptable method.

I believe...if we can’t reach some conclusion where a GI can believe or trust in his vote being counted....then we ought not tax GI’s either at the state level or the national level. It’s that simple.
