Americus Reed, a marketing professor at University of Pennsylvania's Wharton School who studies brand loyalty, says Cathy underestimated what might happen once his comments to a niche religious publication and a syndicated radio show spread to a wider audience.
"I think this is part of the wake-up call for companies to understand that social media makes these decisions very, very risky," Reed said, "because it's much easier now for these messages to get out to consumers and consumers to virtually organize."

They will continue to grow and add customers because they have a good product at a reasonable price and they have the best customer service not only in the industry (fast food) but maybe for any industry. There is not one full service high end restaurant I have EVER been to that compares to the consistent friendly customer service of CFA.
Liberal fools like this make me wish for another civil war: Them on one side, people who understand the importance of the biblical worldview to the survival of America on the other. It would be bloodless, because liberals are self-obsessed and would just run away, to France or somewhere else that’s “enlightened”.

Marketing is when you listen to HuffPo, Maddow, Matthews et al and "sell" their twisted logic to your students, who just need another couple of credits to pass the course.
I plan on going there today. Get grilled chicken and coleslaw with ice tea.
Cut all money to NPR and PBS.
Loved my chicken biscuit this morning.
And anti-Christian bilge such as this is a wake-up call to Christians to elect more TEA Party/small government candidates who will pull taxpayer funding from this ungodly waste of our hard-earned money.
Conservatives should not fund NPR or PBS Leftists. It’s like paying for the bullets they are shooting at us.
Wow, a two-fer....Black and Homosexual. UP gets extra points for that on their Affirmative Action Hires list.
“One irony I see is if they were encouraged to pair off and adopt or have children through surrogacy their “buying power” would drop in line with heterosexual couples who make those choices.”
Having children does not decrease one’s buying power.
Kids only cause people to spend more money.
My 46 year old daughter started her first job with Chick-fil-a at age 16. She worked her way up to assistant manager and earned one of their $1500 college scholarships.
Ironically, she is now legally married to her female partner in D.C.
I have no idea what they are doing for dinner, but hubby is picking CFA up on his way home from work tonight, before he goes to band rehearsal at church.
They're concentrated in overpaid professions in arts, fashion, media, and entertainment. And they don't have children.
It is a wakeup call to the perverted homosexuals. It is finally proving to America and the world, how homosexuality is nothing more than a racist hate group.
Factor in the disproportinate presence of gays in ultra high-dollar industries (like entertainment/Hollywood) and an average of $133,000 a year across 6million people isn’t all that unreasonable.
Facts be darned, continue the narrative.
Children do not decrease your spending power.
Children do not decrease your spending power.
Children do not decrease your spending power.
Clearly, an Affirmative Action hire.
Went to Chick-fil-a this morning for breakfast, just got back. The place was packed with three police cars in parking lot. Went in to eat and there were two flamers with a poster sign screaming,ENJOY YOUR BISCUITS OF HATE!....
One of them walked up and asked in a loud voice if I support this homophobic business and their chicken of hate.... I started to laugh... And I mean laughed out loud laugh... And then the people in the restaurant started to laugh... Everyone was laughing so hard we were crying... This made the two flamers even more mad.....And they left... Biscuits of hate... That just tickled my funny bone...
I never new a chicken biscuit good be so good, I picked up 6 for the family and myself this morning. A truly heavenly experience!
You can bet it's coming, though. Most esp. if Obamalamadingdong is recrowned, I predict we'll start seeing dozens of complaints. The left will be infuriated by their failure at cowing CFA into PC compliance, and even madder at the public for siding with them. Next step will be to drag them into a bunch of expensive, phony legal battles.
Me too. Just got back; used the trip to drive through a few neighborhoods I've done business in but not recently.
Good for you, I'm not a vegetarian but I respect you and your tolerance for non-vegetarians and for defending the 1st amendment.
Some vegetarians are very militant fascists, just like the smoke nazis.
They have diet lemonade? Dang, I’ve been ignoring the lemonade because my sugar’s up. Won’t any more!!
Can’t do sugar myself, so the diet lemonade is important. Its really good.
Do you eat cole slaw? If so, CFA has some of the best in the world, in my opinion.
Also, their lemonade is awesome.
“Don’t just sit there pickin’
when you could lickin’ chicken...”
It’s turned relatively positive for the the company.
They never said they were against gays but rather, they are for marriage between a man and a woman.
I feel the same way.
Too bad you didn't get a video LOL I'm imagining Truman Capote in a snit...
Went in to eat and there were two flamers with a poster sign screaming,ENJOY YOUR BISCUITS OF HATE!....
Isn’t it strange that those who revel in hate, abuse and intolerance consistantly project those traits on others?
When I first read that I thought you meant they left biscuits of hate... from their butts.
Keep dreaming.
LOL
Inserting reason into these threads is never welcome.
Repeat after me:
JC Penny was at the top of it’s game until it featured ads with same sex couples, then it fell to the bottom.
Chick-Fil-A’s politically driven surge in business is forever. Being neutral is bad business.
You may have to practice for a while before you can say either with a straight face, but trust me, it’s the party line.
I agree!
Backwoods-engineer,
I do eat coleslaw and tried it the other day at CFA and I absolutely agree with you! Their side salad is a decent salad too, has some cheese, tomatoes and various greens and cabbage.
Loved my meal and thanks for the suggestion!

Thanks Dallas! I’m a vegetarian only because I’m one of those weird people that cannot stand the taste of meat. I actually cook it for my husband and when our kids lived at home for them too.
My parents would make me eat it nightly since everyone else in our family was. This was in the 60’s and 70’s when if you didn’t clean your plate your parents were sure you were going to die of malnutrition!
True, but they influence were the spending power is directed. Parents devote more purchasing power to the needs of the nuclear family than gays do, whereas gays spend much more time and money on their pet causes and left-wing advocacy than typical nuclear family is able to, hence the disproportionate power & influence of gays.
Nice pun! One assumes his family lived near Americus, Georgia.
While your "Affirmative Action points" thing would be true, do you actually know that he is homosexual, or are you making an assumption based on the earrings?
I’ll be a little more impressed with this marketing Professor when he pays a little more attention to the bottom line before drawing conclusions. That is, after all, what a marketeer is paid to do. BTT.
You’re not alone. When I went on Monday the gentleman behind me explained the the young man taking his order that the reason he was here was because of the recent brouhaha and that although he himself was a vegetarian, he came anyways to show his support. The young man taking his order helped him out by showing him a vegetarian alternative.
