Amazon founder donates $2.5 million to same-sex ‘marriage’ campaign

OLYMPIA, Washington, July 31, 2012 (LifeSiteNews.com) - The fight for traditional marriage in Washington state is heating up with the announcement that billionaire Jeff Bezos, the founder of Amazon.com, and his wife, MacKenzie, have pledged $2.5 million to homosexual lobbyists. The donation comes after opponents of the state’s new gay “marriage” law stopped the legislation in its tracks by collecting and filing over 240,000 signatures in support of a referendum on the November ballot.

The contribution makes the Amazon couple the largest financial backer of homosexual “rights” in the state, according to the NY Times, far outstripping the $100k donation by Bill Gates and Steven A. Ballmer of Microsoft.

Gov. Christine Gregoire of Washington State, a Democrat, signed the homosexual “marriage” bill into law in February, making Washington the seventh U.S. state to redefine marriage, in addition to the District of Columbia.

The bill was expected to take effect in June, however, Preserve Marriage Washington gathered and filed 247,331 signatures supporting a referendum, far more than the required 120,577.

Joseph Backholm, Chairman of Preserve Marriage Washington, said the large numbers that supported the referendum initiative show that public opinion is on the side of traditional marriage.

“Despite attempts by some to skew what we really think, support for preserving marriage remains strong across our great state,” Backholm said, adding that the homosexualist agenda “is not about equality or fairness; same-sex couples already have the same legal rights as married couples. Our opponents’ goals are to make marriage genderless, to de-emphasize the unique roles of mothers and fathers, and to completely remake the institution of marriage.”

Backholm pointed out that every time the question of same-sex “marriage” has been brought before voters, the people have voted to protect traditional marriage.

“Thirty-two States have voted in favour of traditional marriage; 0 States have voted in favour of “gay marriage,” Backholm observed.

“For thousands of years, marriage between one man and one woman has proven to be the cornerstone of our society. Thirty-two other states have already voted to preserve marriage—November 6 is our opportunity to do the same.”

I did very close to $5000 purchases from Amazon last year. I just cancelled all my subscriptions to products and e-mailed them. I told them to check how much I had been ordering , and then to watch closely how much I order in the future. Damn Bezos and his left wing cronies. Actions have consequences.

How do you get rich running a company that has never (unless recently?) had a profit?

Us conservatives we dont push for tyrranical bans on businesses who promote sexual corruptions. We just don’t send them our business. That way when they tank they have themselves to blame and no one stopped them from choosing to fail on their own.

You need to study business my friend, LOL.

In general there is zero correlation between company performance and executive compensation.

A local bricks and mortar store owned and operated by a Christian neighbor. And, yes, for a few percentage points more!

TarGay,

Gay C Penny,

Homo Depot,

Now Amazon, pretty soon I won't have anywhere to shop.

Just imagine all the money I'll save by not having to buy stuff I don't really need from retailers that cater to less than 2% of the population.

In the new bizzaro world of business, the companies doing the worst seem to often pay the best.

Each incoming “savior” has to be recruited and paid top dollar.

Yahoo is a great example - 4 CEOs and 2 interim CEOs in 5 years.

I choose what businesses to use the old fashioned way. Highest quality, most reliable service for the best price. Hands down. Anyone who would support inferior businesses because the organization says that they share politics is working against market forces and promoting inferiority. I let the libs do crap like that.

Too bad. It was so easy to do business with them.

“Odd” that lobbyists are such a bad thing in politics except when they are pushing for homosexuality in the public arena.

The Lavender Mafia marches on.

This sounds like a “community organizer” shakedown. I’ll bet a substantial amount of that money ends up in Democrat campaign coffers.

I’ve been perusing Buy.com since Amazon came out with this.

So far, I’ve been able to find everything cheaper, and with the same free shipping on orders over $25.
