Joianne Fraschilla is a lesbian mom in New Jersey whose son has been eager to visit the petting zoo at the WhiteBriar Bed & Breakfast they pass by regularly.
This week, they noticed a sign outside the B&B promoting tomorrows Chick-fil-A Appreciation Day organized by Mike Huckabee, as well as the message One man, one woman, one God.
Fraschilla wrote on the B&Bs Facebook wall that she would not be bringing her son there because she was disappointed a local business was anti-equality. She received the following response, presumably from WhiteBriar co-owner Carole Lokan-Moore:
"Isnt it wonderful Joanne Fraschilla, that you and your son can enjoy the animals here because I have a traditional marriage with a husband who works with me 90 hours a week to take care of these animals, and the summer camp .were 66-68 years old .there were no gays or queers in our time ..if two old ladies chose to live together..so be it, let them deal with God when they get there but to have the face sucking thrown in my face of two gay lesbians who are totally destroying the normal balance in a childs life as you claim your son where is the role model that your son needs to know how to act like a man? or will he only see the one sided selfishness of a single parent and end up an out cast in society by being gay himself because he didnt have a father as a role model. Ill pray for you .remember what the bible says: Lay down with dogs, get up with fleas ..guess thats why God invented aids
THIS LOCAL BUSINESS WILL BE ONE MAN ONE WOMAN ONE GOD MAKES MARRIAGE .AND PROUD TO DO SO .YOU SHOULD BE SO LUCKY TO OWN YOUR OWN BUSINESS."
Fraschilla has started a Change.org petition calling on WhiteBriar to apologize for the indefensible comment.
Its worth noting that Lokan-Moore ran for the New Jersey Senate, but lost in the GOP primary having garnered only 416 votes.
Many conservatives have asked why it matters what Chick-fil-A president Dan Cathy personally believes, and the very easy answer is that words hurt...
Posting this because I notice some issues:
1. The "rant" of the B&B owner actually makes some good points which go unanswered of course. True, this is not the era in which one should state these things openly, but she does make valid points.
2. Had the "lesbian Mom" simply respected the B& B's right to display the "Chick-Fil-A Appreciation Day" sign, as well as the right to define marriage traditionally and to exercise religious liberty, all would be well.
There are B and Bs which do not mind gays in the least.
But they gays do seem to PICK these fights, after which they....
3. run off and start a petition DEMANDING APOLOGIES on Change.Org :
" Whitebriar Bed and Breakfast, Green Cafe, Farm and Camp: Apologize for their discriminatory public statement":
http://www.change.org/petitions/whitebriar-bed-and-breakfast-green-cafe-farm-and-camp-apologize-for-their-discriminatory-public-statement
Awesome. Patronize that B&B! Excellent answer. We are all tired of that marginal, extreme element of society ramming their Godless practices down our throats. Enough already.
I love the apology demand.
Look at the age of the owners and their current stance.
I’m 58 and am already getting that “I’ve got nothing to lose” mindset. It’s pretty clear it’s gonna be a cold day in hell before these people come back with anything resembling an apology.
I suspect they would be willing to lose their business over this. They probably figure they could use the free time.
Yeah I feel sorry for this couple. Late 60s, all that hard work, and now they have this mess to contend with. All because of a Chick-Fil-A sign. I posted this because I thought they could use some support.
That was not very “Christian” of the owner to thank God for AIDS. It’s crap like that which makes all Christians look like fools.
Is this woman a Westboro Baptist supporter as well? Does she picket the funerals of American Soldiers? She sure seems like she would be up for it.
Let’s just hope they can afford to quit, and that they don’t get a lawsuit on top of it. The les should just have left well enough alone. But see they are militant now, gone is the live-and-let-live aura of their former years.
The thing that this lesbian mother doesn’t understand is that there are plenty of people that will support these B&B owners against someone trying to ruin their business.
We went to Chick-Fil-A last night and were behind a couple explaining to the manager that they’d never tried the restaurant before but due to the owner’s stance and the resulting firestorm from the LGBT community, made a special trip to try it.
After we were served, we sat by someone that was discussing his choice of Chick-Fil-A in much the same terms. He was explaining to his son that while they couldn’t go there on 8/1, they were there now supporting the restaurant the best they could.
I wonder if maybe the tide is slowly turning in this country and conservatives, church-goers and people with plain ole good American values are finally fed up? I sincerely hope so!
Funny how that works. I'm 61. No reason not to go 'all in' when the Day comes.
Wow! I thought all B&B’s were owned by gays. How refreshing!
I put a comment on a glbt site covering this: http://www.goodasyou.org/good_as_you/2012/07/whitebriar-bed-breakfast-in-edgewater-nj-god-invented-aids-to-punish-gays-there-were-no-queers-in-our-time.html
It felt so...naughty. :-)
Ha, good job! :-)
I’m with you on the AIDS comment. But the rest seemed pretty good.
It also may have been her lashing out in anger. People say and type things they regret later when they are angry and even Christians get angry.
Today was my first Chik Fil A sandwich. It was really good. You got to love an establishment that pisses off all the right people.
Oh, the Chicken Deluxe, side of waffle fries, and an ice cold Dr. Pepper.
Yum.
It looks to me like the lesbian cast the first stone and then ran to her activist friends when confronted with simple free speech that she did ask for.
It’s high time that somebody tells these folks that there are a dramatic differences between tolerance, acceptance and submission. Stating a differing opinion and not taking action against someone is tolerance. Acceptance is acting with support of a position. That has not yet been legislated. But, submission is the involuntary support of a position that the intolerant activists demand of the tolerant.
Some of you won’t like this but here goes anyway, stupid comment by a supposed “Christian” especially the part about aids. If it costs her her business then I don’t really care. Should not have made that comment.
Sometimes I wonder why the ones who call themselves “Christian” always seem the least Christian like.
And it goes downhill from there.
All conservatives should speak out the same way. If the child’s mother was so secure in who she was it would not matter what and elderly couple owning a Bed and Breakfast think or do. She opened that door up by publicly addressing the two.
Words can hurt. Gays and their lifestyles are interfering with the lives of all of us. They expect to beat us down with law and deny us any rights. They want to show porno in schools to show our children how to fist each other, have sex with the same gender and safe sex with the beasts of the earth. This is not an exaggeration. There are public schools that show these films and teach this trash.
And then they turn around and call us evil for disagreeing and saying no. They want us to embrace evil and forget that a better life can be created and lived. They will never know real happiness, but we can. We have the right to limit what our children are exposed to and who we wish to associate with.
Now, off my high horse.
The GLAAD crowd pushes, just so they can provoke a reaction that they can then use to sue, or otherwise get the target into trouble. A simple "You have your viewpoint, I have mine, have a nice day" should have ended it.
Wow she gave that lesbian a tongue lashing//!!//
Where in that statement does she "thank God" as you put it for AIDs? At worst, she is guilty of trying to put a human finger on the will of God (bad enough in itself).
Unlike the Westboro Baptists people, she is responding to an unwarranted attack on her morals and freedom of speech. While cringe worthy, at a certain level, her statement is a far cry from the BS you just spouted off about her.
By your logic, one can only deduce that you've already signed the change.org petition.
Be sure to stop by the Chick-Fil-A Freepathon thread.

FR gets a couple bucks for every favorite menu item posted.
She didn’t thank God for aids. She remarked that perhaps the reason it came a out was due to His displeasure with homosexuality. I doubt this woman is a Westboro supporter.
Please point out where she thanked God for AIDS.
At any rate, she was angry. Have you ever said anything out of anger that may not have come out exactly the way you wanted it to?
BTW, Christians are allowed to get angry and yet they’re still Christians. Try to be perfect and you’ll fail.
For the most part, she said it well and I agree with her.
I just looked at FB. These people are being hammered by the Leftists. It’s a massive flashmob of hate. Homos and Obamabots (redundant, I know) are spamming their wall with every name under the sun.
At 50, my FReeper lady and I are right with you.
Call us racist? Don't give a damn...see boy who cried "wolf".
Homophobic? Back in the closet, creep.
Anti Mooselimb? Love religious tolerance, but they don't seem to practice it.
Anti-illegal? You bet we are.
Working class American? Thanks for what you do, now learn how to vote.
No more backing down from any of this PC crap. We no longer care about your "cause", and probably never did.
While Lokan-Mooore does address some important issues in a reasoned way, the comment about AIDS wasn’t a smart move.
Don’t overplay your hand.
God has instructed us how to live our lives. He did so in part so we could avoid disease. I don’t believe he created AIDS to take out homosexuals.
The part about ‘in your face’ homosexuality was a great point that is seldom made. Enter the AIDS comment and nobody will ever hear the great point that is seldom made.
The tide is turning because many of us have realized, with the choice of Romney, that we no longer have anyone to support our views. If we want to keep them, we have to stand up for them. Neither Party will do so.
Still, pulling a quote from Ben Franklin and attributing it to the Bible, as well as the AIDs reference do nothing to help the cause. They will be treated as ignorant and hateful. A kind response could have educated much better.
Proverbs 15:1 A soft answer turneth away wrath: but grievous words stir up anger
and the men likewise gave up natural relations with women and were consumed with passion for one another, men committing shameless acts with men and receiving in themselves the due penalty for their error
I agree. She did a disservice to herself with the AIDS remark. I thought her point about the selfishness of a single Mom who provides no father-role model for a growing boy was an EXCELLENT point, and yes, a shame her AIDS comment will be what is going to wind her in a mess, poor woman...
I like the verse. I think you made a good point with it.
And that militance will increasingly be met with angry outbursts like this one. Unfortunately the ill-considered outburst will probably be classified as a "hate crime." The Gaystapo had the political foresight to criminalize thought.
In a lighter vein do you know what they call lesbians with long fingers?
Well hung.
Ridicule is the best weapon, as Alinsky counseled his Marxist followers. Works both ways though.
I’m envious. No Chik Fil A franchises around here (’here’ being the inland PNW), sad to say. Love to try one, even though it’s not exactly on the diet. But what the hey.
Didn’t have a chance to bring my lunch today. Guess I’ll go and have a Costco hot turkey and smoked provolone sammich. That and a drink comes to $5.91. Hard to beat.
I wonder where the Bible quote came from?
I guess they didn’t get the word that they didn’t build it.
Maybe the B & B owner should change the sign to “Intolerant Gay Stormtrooper Thought Police not welcomed.”
From the onslaught of AIDS in the 1980’s, many believed it was a “judgment from God” on this lifestyle. It may not be PC to say this in your purview, but I have no problem with her statement. Being a Christian does not mean you cannot point out the obvious. The way she said it was “mean-spirited” but oh well, when you start a fight, be prepared to take the flak.
ha, watch the double-entendres! ;-)
What is the animals were gay - her son wouldn’t know anything about animals.
I must have missed something here, Where did she thank God for Aids? I read she said “guess thats why God invented aids”, There is a big difference in the two meanings.
I’m not gay or lesbian, but that response made me uncomfortable. That said, these two people might have coexisted peacefully had the media and politicians not existed. Think about it. This woman wanted to visit a petting zoo (I take her at her word, though it’s suspicious that she never did before posting the facebook taunt) with a boy. Had she arrived at the zoo with the boy or the boy and another woman and acted as modest people do in public, they would have patronized the zoo and gone home without incident.
The merchants both happily operated businesses for years most likely serving homosexuals without incident.
One day a newspaper asks a provocative question. The honest answer causes news outlets to swarm on the story and political opportunists to slither to press conferences to take advantage.
Some boycott, others patronize — not because they desire the services of the businesses but because they want to make a political point.
Polite people get angry and anger other polite people.
Honest to God, the answer to all of this is to turn off the TV and put down the paper. Vote your heart but discuss issues politely. You are going to engage in discussions with people who will not be influenced — disengage.
Two lesbians in a canoe? Fur traders!
I’ll let God be in judgement of that. But you seem to know what’s in God’s mind.
>>>>That was not very Christian of the owner to thank God for AIDS. Its crap like that which makes all Christians look like fools
That is how many senior citizens, 65 years and older, talk. They were raised in the era before political correctness, and they say unfashionable things about gays, blacks, immigrants, etc.
How old are you? Have you ever volunteered to work with senior citizens? You need to do so, in order to realize how elderly folk talk.
Did you watch the 1970s TV show, “All in the Family”, starring Carroll O’Conner as Archie Bunker?
You don’t know Romans 1 very well.
Verses 18-32 start out with “the wrath of God is revealed from heaven as...”
And I really love people who try to claim that we can’t know what God thinks of anything... that’s the very reason He gave His Word.
I suppose the only verse that matters to you is the half of a verse “do not judge”?
ha, good one NEMDF ;-)
Misguided, depraved, vindictive, self-destructive, hedonistic, self-centered lives hurt others as well.
