>> It’s hard to remember that far back, but there was a time when this woman was funny.

I remember her from way back. I never thought she was funny. It was obvious even then that her nasty snark was just a means of covering up her low self esteem.

One of her big deals was putting down her husband. Some of the other comedians used to make jokes about their spouse, but it was generally tongue in cheek. I remember thinking hers was more bitter. I still thought her schtick was funny.

If I saw it again today, I might see it differently. You do raise a valid point, something I probably didn’t tune into at the time.

My favorite was Rodney Dangerfield. Shecky Green had a similar vent if I remember accurately. It was all about self-deprecation. Generally, I think most people can identify with that on some level.

Dangerfield once remarked that he was very ugly as teenager. How ugly? “I had acne so bad that one time I fell asleep in the library for the blind, and woke up with six kids trying to read my face.”

She hasn’t been funny since 1992. As for anything worthy to say? I could probably get just as much valuable information or common sense from some street guy standing out in Detroit.
