Elizabeth Warren: People Think I'm Capitalism's Savior

Elizabeth Warren: People Think I'm Capitalism's Savior Michael Warren July 30, 2012 1:32 PM

Massachusetts Democrat Elizabeth Warren says Wall Street types tell her she could be the "savior of capitalism" if she wins her race for U.S. Senate. Here's what Warren recently told a reporter, National Journal reports:

“Every now and again, I meet with someone who’s been very successful on Wall Street, who says, ‘I want to support your campaign because I believe you will save capitalism. I believe in capitalism, and I understand there have to be rules. And they have to be consistently enforced.’ That’s what I think is at stake in this election.”

That’s a hefty assignment, the salvation of capitalism, but Democratic strategists, while cringing at the grandiosity of the statement, say she articulates her vision for the assignment as well as any candidate.

Warren, who is running against Republican incumbent Scott Brown, has said she "created much of the intellectual foundation" for the anti-capitalist Occupy Wall Street movement. And a video of Warren telling supporters that "nobody in this country...got rich on their own" went viral with liberals last year and may have inspired President Obama's comments earlier this month that business owners "didn't build" their businesses.

Dear EW,

Just because your husbands and children said so, that don’t make it “People Think” you are the capitalism’s savior.

The classic “claim the ground of your enemy” tactic. Shall we take her comments in, or out of context?

what are her polling numbers?

Another poll on the Massachusetts Senate race, released this afternoon, puts Senator Scott brown and Democratic challenger Elizabeth Warren in a dead heat, with Warren holding a 40-38 lead.

http://www.boston.com/politicalintelligence/2012/07/24/warren-brown-neck-and-neck-new-poll/CG48OdWMCuOfLasrMyZNrO/story.html

But Warren continues to far outpace Brown in the race to raise cash. Warren raised $8.6 million in the last quarter, for a total of more than $15 million in the first half of this year, compared to $8.4 million for Brown. The Harvard law professor has raised more than $24 million since launching her campaign last year, easily the most of any Senate or House candidate in the nation.

I’m way down here in Texas. I don’t know who Joke3 is (I’m guessing one of the Kennedys? Joe, jr?) Is she from Oklahoma? (I try to ignore her. I guess I probably shouldn’t)
All I know about this silly (w)itch is that, back when the Dodd Frank stuff was being hammered out (or is that hammered *on*?), the left was howling about what a financial genius she is. This was before (I think. Maybe I was just clueless back then) she came out (of the closet, as a commie) with her whole collectivist spiel that 0 is parroting now. I do know the whole “you didn’t build that” was hers, verbatim. Good grief. Massachusetts won’t really elect her, do you think?
