The Department of Homeland Security has ordered masses of riot gear equipment to prepare for potential significant domestic riots at the Republican National Convention, Democratic National Convention and next year’s presidential inauguration.
The DHS submitted a rushed solicitation to the Federal Business Opportunities site on Wednesday, which is a portal for Federal government procurement requisitions over $25,000. The request gave the potential suppliers only one day to submit their proposals and a 15-day delivery requirement to Alexandria, Virginia.
As the brief explains, “the objective of this effort is to procure riot gear to prepare for the 2012 Democratic and Republican National Conventions, the 2013 Presidential Inauguration and other future similar activities.”
The total amount ordered is about 150 sets of riot helmets, thigh and groin protectors, hard-shell shin guards and other riot gear.

By law the government is supposed to publish an offer, collect bids, and elect a winner. But they aren't even pretending to play by the book anymore. Obviously the one-day submission period works only if someone in the industry knows about the order beforehand, has papers ready for submission, and has the gear in stock (otherwise 15-day performance period is impossible.) This offer is aimed at a specific company, and the publication is just a formality.
I know that, but i was under the impression that DHS was some kind of bureacratic organization that oversaw and coordinated FBI, Border patrol, TSA etc. Is a DHS agent some entirely other animal with arrest powers??

The Federal Protective Service is responsible for security at federal installations and property. If your town or area has a federal courthouse or office building then it has FPS to act as security guards.
We all should expect by now that there will be plenty of protesters in both Tampa and Charlotte. When the protesters figure out the convention sites are locked down they will move on to other symbols of the government. Only when they are stopped from damaging those do they get around to breaking all the windows at Starbucks and setting Nike Town on fire.
My only question is, since these conventions were announced a while ago, why did it take so long to order gear?
So what are the chances the DHS drums up fake emergencies in key districts/cities and countless don’t get to vote? As far as I’m concerned, people can riot all they want if Obama loses. They’re lunatics anyway and jail suits them. However, if Obama wins re-election..the first to do so despite such a horrific economic performance...then I’d highly suspect fraud and people should be up in arms.

The Federal Border agents have been issued replacment “ squirt guns” in place of the “bean-bag” guns and are now armed with tequila juice and lime. You can almost sense that the Obama administration is preparing to create some national public issue that will provoke and outrage the citizenry so much that we will not stand for it. Then they can impose military rule to "keep order" and hold power just as Hitler and Stalin did.
I hope I am wrong but I have lived long enough and dealt directly with oppressors like the East German Stasi and Russian KGB. This experience and history are the basis for why I believe Obama intends to not leave office no matter what the vote is....he is prepared to use the courts, homeland security, armed forces, national guard and other military, the federal agencies,and the states to hold power.
Do not overlook the millions of bullets the DHS has ordered in the coming months. THAT is the sign that we must prepare for government violence against the American people.
