The Rasmussen Reports daily Presidential Tracking Poll for Friday shows Mitt Romney attracting 49% of the vote, while President Obama earns support from 44%. Three percent (3%) prefer some other candidate, and four percent (4%) are undecided.

The numbers are similar to the 49% to 43% advantage Romney enjoys on the question of who is trusted more to handle the economy.

"Romney’s five-point advantage is the largest enjoyed by either candidate in just over a month. As with any such change in the race, it remains to be seen whether it marks a lasting shift or is merely statistical noise."

Boy isn’t that the truth. Romney is such a poor candidate that we have to worry about winning an easy election. Stupid GOPe and FREEPERS who support this fraud and cheerleading for Romney is disgusting.

I’m sorry but some of you are so full of crap that it’s entertaining. Yeah, we’d have a 25 point lead with Newt! Not.

Romney is in the lead. Obama sucks. We live in a country where a radical traitor, John Fing Kerry, had a credible showing against a then popular war time president in GWB.

A 5 point lead at this point is great and again, Thank God for it.

He sure is not the candidate we would have wanted but although it is easy to find fault with him personally it is equally difficult to find fault (so far) with the campaign he is running.

I have followed politics for about 40 years and his response team, ads production not to mention fund rsising is as good as any I’ve seen.

Obama’s “You didn’t build that” was the tipping point.

If this keeps up (and I hope it does), I can't imagine how ugly the Obama campaign is going to get.

Romney has been surprisingly good in responding quickly to negative attacks and has handled the campaign well, (except the unforced error about the Olympics) but I don't think we've seen anything yet! Get the popcorn!

BTW, Rasmussen has the best pooling data. Some of the garbage polls to make Obama look good are finally getting called out. Earlier in the week (WSJ/ NBCS?) was so lopsided in its sampling, even Chuck Todd, the political correspondent for NBC admitted it wasn't a good poll. Then why publish it???

Obama has a MAX popular vote total of 42-43%... and that’s if everything goes perfect for him, and that’s hardly the case.

His “You didn’t build that” and “It Worked” comments have shown unequivacably, that this guys a communist in his core beliefs and unamerican to those who were giving him benefit of doubt.

I am sure there will be some fluctuation up and down as the race goes one, but Obama cannot win this election. Fight like we’re losing, but the electorate made up there minds on this guy a long time ago, he just never got the memo. That and his attempts to attack his opponent just show how out of touch he is, they harm him more than Romney because they show exactly who he is and what he believes, and its not things the overwhelming majority of americans believe.

Obama I think honestly will be lucky to get 40% on election day.

This is nice! I'd imagine this is about where you start to see the lemming effect.

You're probably right. But the good part is, from what I've seen so far, Romney is not going to sit back and grovel as did John ""We have nothing to fear from an Obama presidency" McCain.

Yes, coupled with the Catholic and Christian vote being energized by the attacks on Chick-fil-A, the Boy Scouts, the radical disregard for people of faith in Obamacare, and what he's doing to the military.

Until the Catholics and Christians see what Romney did in MA, this might work.

Obama has spent $100 million this year and managed to get his job approval numbers up from low 40s to high 40s. He can’t sustain anything above 50 and hasn’t been able to do so for three years. Not a good sign. Economy will get worse, not better, as we approach the election. Not a good sign. Obama is now being openly criticized by the Left. Not a good sign. He has come off his tight script and is making gaffes. Not a good sign.

Watch the trends, not the numbers of the day. Romney is trending up and Obama is trending down. The election will be close, but there is reason to be somewhat optimistic.

I believe you are right. These dog days of summer usually favor democrats as most Republicans are on vacation until Labor day. But results matter, and when Obama had his own “malaise” moment it just amplified the bad economy he is responsible for.
