President Obama has added his voice to the push for limits on Americans' gun use in the wake the massacre last week at a movie theater in Colorado.

Obama, speaking Wednesday evening to the National Urban League, affirmed his belief in Americans' right to own guns, but he singled out assault rifles as better suited for soldiers than civilians.

"I believe the Second Amendment guarantees an individual the right to bear arms," Obama said. "But I also believe that a lot of gun owners would agree that AK-47s belong in the hands of soldiers, not on the streets of our cities."

I don’t trust Romney any more than Obama on this issue. I do trust a Republican House and (hopefully) Senate to hold the line on 2A rights however. Not sure I trust the SCOTUS on the matter of another AWB either.

Right - when they talk about gun control, it’s controlling those they can, decent Americans. They know they can’t disarm the street gangs because they don’t care about law. They can only prevent law abiding citizens from protecting themselves from those gangs, and the government.

The “minute men” were the civilian militia or armed citizen military. Makes no sense if the very government that is to be subservient to the people should be better armed than the people the government is to serve and represent.

Liberal socialist believe that the second amendment only provides a right to hunting rifles. While we arm terrorist in Libya to over throw their corrupt government, Americans are to be left with single shot rifles and slingshots only after acquiring a permit (permission) from their government and next the UN!
