UW prof: Welfare state should 'exert control over free market'
Campus Reform ^

A sociology professor at the University of Wisconsin, Madison exclusively assigned students a textbook he authored in which he envisions a “racially just society” in which “the welfare state would rise up to exert control over the free market.”

In his course, American Racial and Ethnic Minorities, Prof. Mustafa Emirbayer assigned, as the sole reading, his book, Racial Domination, Racial Progress, which is available for $68.31 on Amazon.

“The American welfare state – perhaps the skinniest in the developed world – could be fattened up,” he wrote in the book, co-authored with Matthew Desmond. "[T]he skimpy American welfare state – in large part responsible for the millions of citizens living hand-to-mouth today – would expand by generous proportions."

“[T]he Welfare state would rise up to exert control over the free market, making sure to protect vulnerable citizens from its erratic whims,” he continued in the book which is currently ranked #124,659 in sales on Amazon.com.

Any control over the “Free Market” would make the market no longer FREE!

Prof. Mustafa Emirbayer

Yep, a real American, here. No bias against individuality or the rule of law - so long as that law comports with Islam and the perversions of its individual adherents.

Which ain’t news, by the way.

Sounds like a communist if not an islamist. In short, an enemy of America.

Someone paid sixty-nine bucks for a book about this?

You can read the same claptrap being posted to no fewer than fifteen Leftist blogs every day.

The rapidly breeding Muslims have Britain on its knees. They have jumped on the gravy train with gusto and England is broke trying to keep them in houses large enough to accommodate their broods, free food and free medical care.

We need to ship these university vermin from third world countries back to their homelands before they turn us into a third world country.

Without the free market, the welfare state could not even exist. Someone has to feed them.

In a nutshell all it is saying is owners should tighten the whip to attempt to reign in their slaves.

Anytime I see this, “sociology professor”, I discount all writing after it.

I see “food stamp” recipients “buying” large packages of steaks, heavy beef roasts, high dollar cheeses, etc, stuff that I cannot afford, by the basketfull. It occurs to me that they already affect the “free markets”, they keep the prices of premium foodstuffs high.

Nothing pisses me off worse than seeing these people buying stuff with my money that I cannot afford.

Lazy, gluttonous scum.

I disagree with your assertion. You will find many foreigners, Muslims even, who have true appreciation for economic freedom. I would encourage you to view this lecture: http://bit.ly/MHxYE7.

Further, you find outright communists who were born and bred here in the US.

Sociology professor? Is that the lowest life form? I bet this guy is all smiles being parasitically attached to the government through a salary at the school and probably “working about 1/2 of the year. Essentially, he is on welfare...Get a real job, professor, you over-educated nitwit.

This alleged 'professor's" views are entirely consistent with Quigley's Pakistani-Peruvian axis. As such, he is unfit to live in a free society.

Nope. Although one notch lower than "'rat politician", it's one notch higher than "child molester".

It is okay to disagree with me. It’s called individual freedom - something apparently this professor Mustafa doesn’t agree with.

Likewise, we’re not talking about communists; we all know what they are and what they espouse. Something much different than disguising religious-influenced dogma with a supposedly open-minded academic setting.

Lastly, I didn’t visit your URL because is it a “shortened URL” meant to disguise the real URL source....

Start with that inflated collection of rags he calls a book for 68.00! Give it out free with him paying the cost to print the thing.

‘A sociology professor at the University of Wisconsin, Madison exclusively assigned students a textbook he authored in which he envisions a “racially just society” in which “the welfare state would rise up to exert control over the free market.”’

Obviously this character from Moscow on Mendota is a sociology professor and not a professor of history. Lenin, Stalin, Mao, Pol Pot, Uncle Ho, Fidel - all have tried this very same thing, with results well documented by history.

It doesn’t seem to have worked too well for them, as this dunderhead would know if he’d bothered to read a history book or two.

“You will find many foreigners, Muslims even, who have true appreciation for economic freedom.”

They are to be pitied, and not encouraged in their misguided beliefs concerning economic freedom. Possibly paternalistic cultures are the sources of their error. If that’s the case, and if they cannot undo their desire to be bathed in paternalistic social structures, then they should return to the lands they came from, and not demand that we be more like them; because we won’t.
