EXCLUSIVE: Movie massacre suspect sent chilling notebook to psychiatrist before attack

AURORA, Colo. – James Holmes, the accused gunman in last Friday's midnight movie massacre in Colorado, mailed a notebook "full of details about how he was going to kill people" to a University of Colorado psychiatrist before the attack, but the parcel sat unopened in a mailroom for as long as a week before its discovery Monday, a law enforcement source told FoxNews.com.

I thought I heard the order went Shotgun, rifle... which jammed, then pistol.

can anyone tell me if there’s even an AR-variant made by S&W under the M&P product name?

Yes, they make several AR variants under the M&P name. Decent rifles. A good friend lost his in a tragic boating accident ...

So it’s entirely likely that because of his overzealous want to pack as many rounds into a magazine as possible, he actually stopped his spree short. If that’s the case, he walked out of the theater after he emptied the shotgun, the pistol, and couldn’t fire the rifle any longer.

I guess we can thank God that he was a Liberal idiot who had no desire to actually learn how to fire or maintain that rifle.

I wonder if anything sent to the psychiatrist would be inadmissible in court if Holmes was a patient?

He can waive the privilege, if he believes the psych's testimony will help his case.

It's very obvious from this angle that AR is using a standard magazine and NOT a drum.

That is because the drum mag is on the floor inside. He changed the mag but the AR was still jammed. Didn't practice clearing drills.

How long can hypnosis last??? We know that CIA had a woman programmed during MKUltra to kill one night before they had her actually pull the trigger by simply pointing a finger at her.

It’s been alleged in The Franklin Cover Up that subjects were turned into schizophrenics in order to manipulate them.

The obstacle here is the parents. It is hard for me to imagine parents allowing it to happen.

I get your point, but in America, he is still innocent until proven guilty.

Then, by that reasoning, he should be let go and be given back his weapons. Why hold him? He's innocent until blah, blah. Shouldn't we wait for a court hearing to determine if he's guilty and then take his weapons? Are they holding an innocent man? Why?

The whole thing is legal crap. That's why unborn babies are 'fetuses' and homosexuals are "gay" and etc., etc., ad nauseum.

I say he's a guilty ba$tard. Maybe the courts will later disagree, but I cannot fathom why an "innocent" man is being incarcerated.

That doesn't make sense. Did he carry the rifle with him until he exited the theater? The rifle was outside the door he used to escape but there were no pistols found in the area. Shotgun first makes sense, as it has a lower mag cap and he wasn't using a Saiga or other detachable magazine semi-auto.

The rifle was outside the door. I have to believe he couldn't clear the rifle jam, turned around to escape, and dropped it when he got outside the door.

I don’t know....do DARPA and INTEL agencies check with their lawyers first? Of course, they would act on the intelligence (BTW, DARPA is an advanced projects/concepts entity...they aren’t really at the front line of the day-to-day intelligence battle.)

And, I don’t care what the law says in this instance, even if the psychiatrist is ethically bound by some arcane law. Morality and common decency should prevail - if in fact aware, authorities should be notified....

Actually, all this is just hypothetical conjecture anyway. No one has proven it was opened, and as another Freeper here suggested, it is summer and not all professors would be expected to open their mail post haste. So let’s just go with that until shown otherwise

A fully-loaded drum mag (100 rd) is going to weigh somewhere north of 50 lb.

Ummm...

I can’t see or understand how or why he would fire the shotgun, discard it,...

Because the tube mag is clumsy to reload?

The recoil from one-armed shooting would be enough to break someone’s wrist.

Ummm...

I’m at a loss as to how that’s even remotely practical. A fully-loaded drum mag (100 rd) is going to weigh somewhere north of 50 lb.

?? Where do you get that it's going to weigh 50 lbs? This 90-round .223 drum mag weighs under 4 lbs loaded.

I can’t see or understand how or why he would fire the shotgun, discard it, then switch between the rifle and the pistol. The recoil from one-armed shooting would be enough to break someone’s wrist.

Recoil from which? The AR-15 has minimal recoil. The shotgun has more recoil, but a physically-fit man can shoot one one-handed without pain.

The notebook was sent to the Professor with more than enough time for there to be repercussions.

More than enough time to shut him down.

So the question is why did he send it so far in advance.

I'm having a bit of "disconnect" with the article from Fox:

Exhibit A: Inside the package was a notebook full of details about how he was going to kill people,” the source told FoxNews.com. “There were drawings of what he was going to do in it -- drawings and illustrations of the massacre."

Among the images shown in the spiral-bound notebook’s pages were gun-wielding stick figures blowing away other stick figures.

Exhibit B: Agent Dave Joly, of the FBI’s Denver Division, declined to comment on the matter, citing a gag order issued Monday by Arapahoe County District Judge William Sylvester. Arapahoe County District Attorney Carol Chambers' office and Aurora police also could not comment due to the gag order.

Soomeone appears to be in contempt. Was this info allowed deliberately?

It’s possible the notebook evidence was planted.

Remember the claim by Mcveigh that a chip was implanted in him.
I searched around to see if anyone ever tried to disprove or prove his claim - really didn’t find anything.

Call me cynical. After all, this is the same university that made Ward Churchill a professor of 'ethnic' studies.

I don’t know to tell you the truth. The guy was/is a nutball supreme evidenced by his actions. My guess is that his orals didn’t go well at the end of the year critique of his graduate work. I don’t know what kind of drugs/pills he may have been taking, nor do I know whether or not he is just crazy crazy or driven that way because of stress, uncertainty, etc..

One thing sticks in my mind - his mother when called telling whoever was on the line “you have the right person.” (or words to that effect). This tells me the parents were aware of what a nutcase this son might be.

The whole blood trail in front of his car intrigues me. If he came in THAT exit door,,wouldn’t people be exiting out the otherside or the main hall down the back of the theater? I thought I read police found him in his car. Is it possible he was sitting in his car while bloody people were walking past him? Why would they walk past this heavily armed person who just tried to kill them? That part doesn’t make sense

I’ve fired an AK-47 with a 100 rd drum mag, and it clocked in easily over 40 lb. Then again, that’s a much larger round than the .223 and the drum itself was made with stamped steel as opposed to aluminum.

You ever fired a 12 ga. shotgun with a pistol grip with one hand? I have. I left the range with an imprint of the heat shield on my forehead, a broken nose, and a sprained wrist. That was after firing just one sabot shell. I didn’t drop the shotgun, so it might be possible, but it’s far from practical.

Again, going back to practicality. Regardless of weight, which I admit I may have overestimated, it cannot be practical to commit this sort of atrocity with the armament as described by the MSM.

Thank you!!!! I love FR but sometimes the need to try and find conspiracies or blame for something like the CO massacre is irritating.
It’s summer, hardly anyone is around, including most professors.
It’s not unusual for a package that contained nothing but a notebook to sit for a week before being picked up by someone.

The mother is denying that spin. However, I did see a report that someone from the mother’s camp called ABC to find out if there was a tape of the phone call before she went public that the spin by ABC was wrong.

One poster here says Holmes has signs of Asperbergers - which would explain the problem with the orals.

I did read that the orals were not a kick out if you fail type of deal.

I just want to throw this out there so folks aren’t jumping to conclusions...Holmes is a doctoral candidate in Neurosciences. He has text-book and clinical access to exactly what a nutcase acts like in certain situations.

I just caution that we not be deceived by what could be a very intelligent and well informed ACTOR looking to get off on a “nutcase” defense.

Gaffer, his mother is all over the place saying reports of that comment are being twisted. She says she was woke up at 4 or 5:30 in the morning, asked if she had heard about the shootings, had her son described to her and confirmed that it “was him” when they described her son...she may have been thinking he was one of the victims at that point. She is being adamant about the fact she wasn’t acknowledging he could be the killer. Just fyi. You know how the press is. She has specifically called out ABC for making it sound different than what it was

Was comparing it to my experience with a fully-loaded AK-47 drum mag made of stamped steel. Larger round, heavier drum material. Hip-firing with one hand/arm was not practical if not impossible.

Also, when I think AR, I think AR10 (.308). This is me, personally. I understand that we’re talking .223, which I’ve admittedly never fired. I prefer larger caliber in rifles.

I'm surprised that no one has focused in on this little tidbit from the story:

According to Fox, “among the images shown in the spiral-bound notebook’s pages were gun-wielding stick figures blowing away other stick figures.”

Seems like an indication to me that someone else was involved in the plot.

The mother has come out and stated that ABC misrepresented what happened in that phone call. According to her attorney, she was awakened at 5:45 AM by a reporter asking her if she was Arlene Holmes and was she the mother of James Holmes of Aurora Colorado. She said, “Yes, you have the right person.” and then she asked why they were calling.

That scenario actually makes more sense and I don’t really think ABC has much credibility at this time. They made it sound like she was told about the massacre and that’s when she make the damning remark but she has denied that and ABC has no audio to back up their version.

The mother claims that statement was made before she was told what had happened and was in response to the question "Is this Arlene Holmes the mother of James Holmes of Aurora CO?"

Besides this is also a Brian Ross production so you know damn well that ABC misrepresented the call.
