Rush Limbaugh: Jim....What's His name, Free Republic Got Banned at CompuServe And...
Rush Limbaugh
July 24, 2012
Rush is talking about the early internet and mentions Jim Robinson and Free Republic.
Free Republic Rules!
My Dad DID call me by the dog’s name once. I don’t look like a “Patches”!!
It was a great recount of how the Internet was created, not legislated or decreed by Fiat. Loved it and love FR! I donate monthly, don’t you?
Yeah, we can forgive Rush for a senior moment. He’s darn near as old as me. And I think it was that Jim Thompson guy.
Taking the flip side of this... Rush and Jim are on first name terms.
din’t bother listening to him or others except those like Levin.
When the likes of Hannity gets the balls to mention conservative social issues and esecially how the homo agenda and the homostapo are acting and doing then Ill tune back in but until then I won’t hold my breath.
Hannity the biggest joke and fraud on the FOX channel
Given how Rush has handled Obama’s eligibility. He deserves it. I will never trust him again. He is despicable. He abandoned his listeners and the nation.
This thread was pulled.
Hit a sensitive nerve there. Did I?
I listened to parts of that segment. Rush’s correct percentage just dropped a bit. How got all kinds of things wrong in that segment. His knowledge of computer history is terrible.
LOL! I knew that was coming. Well played!
But Hey! Let's give a big ol' bump to the FReepathon, shall we?
FR needs your support to survive these bad times and to continue the fight!! [FReepathon thread XVI]

Well...He certainly isn't a patriot.
By the way...How much time did he give to Arapio’s press conference ( since I don't listen to Rush any more,)?
( Just wondering)
I was never banned from Prodigy. Just thought the internet would give us a broader audience, so started Free Republic. I continued posting on both for another six months or so until I decided to drop my Prodigy membership. The “banned from Prodigy” rumor was started later at one of the first anti-freeper sites. They just knew that if they told the world the “truth” about FR, it would be gone by Feb 8, 1999 (even named the date). And that was many, many years ago.
I completely agree. It includes nearly all of them ( including Rush).
WEENIES!
That kook fringe compuserve ISP cost me my first FR identity when they gave my email address away to one of their buddies.
I wonder if it was my FR activities that inspired them?
FU compuserve.
I don't know. Who cares?
Ignorance is forgivable.
Rush scanns FR almost every night.
.
What a stawman!
No one who is concerned about Obama’s eligibility has even remotely suggested that Rush ***ONLY** talk about Obama’s eligibility.
How is it possible to have a rational discussion with a strawman of your invention?
There’s little quite like showing your enemies to be complete blithering idiots.
Rush’s chief call screener was a FR regular 10-12 years ago, but had to give it up because he got so many frivolous pings.
.

I have 5 kids and sometimes would go through all 5 names if I was mad enough....somewhere within those 5 names was the one I was looking for...:O)
>> “Was that on purpose ?” <<
.
I think he tried to link himself and it didn’t work the way he thought it would.
The next day, in the third hour, Snerdley was apparently pestering him about the Arpaio/Zullo conference. He said something like, "What? Arpaio? The Arpaio conference? ... hee hee hee hee... No, I'm gonna just wait and let that... fester for a little bit... hee hee hee hee...."
He knew the MSM was waiting with bated breath to get his response.
If you want to hear speculation on the response to Arpaio, go to The Ulsterman Report. Word there is that Arpaio has hit on something that was not brought up in the presser that's got the White Hut on edge. The rumor is that MCSO is holding something back.
“I listened to parts of that segment. Rushs correct percentage just dropped a bit. How got all kinds of things wrong in that segment. His knowledge of computer history is terrible.”
_________
I listened to the show, and was not going to say anything, but I thought the same thing...that he had quite a bit wrong, but I don’t know enough to correct him. A Cliff’s Notes Primer would be appreciated.
Who cares?
^^^^^^^
Patriots care. Rush must not be one of them.
Well...There is always hope.
Personally, I was a faithful listener of Rush. Hopefully, he will redeem himself. Since 2008 he hasn't, though. Rush's redemption is like waiting for Godot.
Could You elaborate on what the “MCSO” is? without getting hung up on the daffynition of “IS” is??
Thanks so much Jim for the thorough reply. Once again, you've busted another untruth with the facts. You've been doing that year after year after year and I'm sure that you and Free Republic will long continue as a beacon for Conservatism.
Suffice it to say that what remains of Prodigy is relegated to a mere curiosity but Free Republic remains dominant, the 800-pound gorilla for news and informed opinion.
You are absolutely right! I had to fight right up to the CEO
of a major Corporation to purchase one of the early Toshiba Laptops in 81-82 for $6000.00! I got it, but pi**ED of the IT VICE PRESIDENT royally! Then the flood gates opened wide!
MCSO (Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office)
Likely Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office.
He was at the first Freeper Ball in 2001.

Thank you very much, BIGLOOK!!
I had been a regular poster on Prodigy’s news boards for a few years starting in the early ‘90s. Did a little surfing on the Internet during that time, but nothing serious. John had been encouraging me to get involved on the internet for several years, but that was before the modern browser was introduced. The browser made it possible for non-computer geeks to use the net. Our company purchased a fledgling Internet Service Provider in ‘95, so I got a chance to learn the internet business from the inside out. I finally decided to get serious about a conservative news site a few months prior to Clinton’s re-election campaign and so launched FR on Sept 23, 1996. By the way, John had been running his own BBS from his bedroom on a Commodore (toy computer) since he was 14. That was in ‘88. He later upgraded to a Mac and finally to PC. It’s in the blood.
Thank you so much! I feel like a real Duufus asking that question after seeing your answer, but thanks again and I support Sheriff Arpaio and the MCSO 1 Trillion Percent!
We have a foreign born Total Fraud and a Radical MUSLIM TERRORIST occupying the White House, the OVAL OFFICE, and using AIR FORCE ONE in the most demeaning way possible flying his skinny, perverted body all over every darn day!
No wonder that his handlers shipped his Gay Lover, Reggie Love off to the Wharton School to get him out of the way before Campaign 2012!
Great pic! Those were the days.
out of all those on TV Hannity for me is the biggest fraud out there.
He’s never mentioned conservative social issues and once said he has no problem with hwo marries who.
Seems him hanging out with his elitist liberal pals has got to him plus his boring tiresome story of how he was a hard worker from nothing, yea his whole two weeks of doing yards as a teen, ARF\I now nevr listen or watch him and refuse to give him a number on his viewer ratings
I had forgotten Jim Thompson's name too.
Great shout out from Rush.
5.56mm
By the way, someday we’ll look back on these days as the “good old days” (should we live long enough).
Careful, next thing you know, you'll want to eat someone's face.
;-\
Woo hoo!! Thanks!!
So, “Bo Snerdly” is wearing the hat.
I heard it too. I wasn't paying close attention and alerted like a bird-dog when I heard ....FReepers are gonna kill me. It was affectionate... kind of like my wife talks about some of my minute and rare missgivings.
And I would not be surprised at all if Rush and others lurked here. I was surprised several years ago, not long after joining FR when a well known politician confided to me that he visited FR to see what the conservative temperature on certain things. In his words, "FR is a good barometer on certain conservative issues."
Jim Thompson.
WOW! God bless your little young John, huh? (And of course John, the man today). Teenage computer genius, all from a toy Commodore! Ya never know.
Nice picture
Wonderful picture.
Yup. He was introduced to computers as a toddler. Sat him on my knee and taught him the alphabet on a tele-typewriter in the ‘70s. Now, if I could only get him to reset the clock on FR.
